If a person can't afford to live in an area, then they shouldn't be in that area. There are plenty of area's where a poorer person can live.

Yeah... our freeways are great, but our drivers, not so much! Better than CA where I'm from though 😂

@Living in Phoenix - TrevTalks California freeways are great just over populated and pretty decent drivers as well. These freeways only take you a few places here and not so good drivers. So many wrong way drivers it us ridiculous. Plus there are more fatal wrecks in residential areas that I could never imagined unfortunately 😐

Thank you for this, very helpful. I'm looking to relocate to Phoenix (preferably the outskirts from downtown, so Mesa, Gilbert or similar towns), and will be looking for a single bedroom apartment - how many months in advance should i start looking, or have to have a place reserved by? Is there an average time period for this, for these areas? Apologies if these are silly questions, as i'm relocating from the UK, so not familiar with the US renting rules/practices etc. I will also drop you an email to work with you on this, and would like to use your services to assist my move, many thanks :)

I would say 1 month in advance. You could look earlier to see what complexes you like, but usually 1 month out is when you would want to apply because they want people in there ASAP sometimes if you call 2-3 months early, they have people that have given their notice and you can get in, but that is more rare

Very Expensive !!! I'm only here for the weather! They charge the price of 4 houses for an apt. unless you are a very smart shopper ! East coast is way cheaper ! Less then $300 to rent a house !

@hausberline2752 Unless you're talking about Buffalo or Pittsburgh the east coast is expensive New York, Boston, Washington DC are way more expensive than Arizona.

Idk about Arizona since I only lived there for about 7 months with my family after moving to US. Here are my cost of living in New York City
I don't own a car so no car cost thanks to the great transit system of NYC. Still I expect to pay around $350 on transportation
      * I live in a newly renovated small basement with 2 bedrooms and I pay $1400 for that. Utilities depends. Some NYC basements don't charge you for utilities because they don't have permission to rent so basically they do it silently but if there's utilities expect to pay around $200 max
*600-700 on monthly groceries (2 person family)
We make 3500ish a month and that kinda lets us live decently.
