Houston has an incredible arts, museum and theater scene. People most often speak about oil , but it is an incredible city for stem professionals like engineering , medicine , aeronautics and space. It’s also great for logistics as well. It’s start up tech echo system goes under the radar as well. It definitely wins in the area of cultural and ethnic diversity especially if you are an Afro descended person from any continent.
Houston also the most water problems, hurricanes , flood issues , traffic issues(2nd behind Austin) , crime , longest commutes . It’s about the worst city out of the big 4 to live in

I have lived in all of the ones u mentioned my shortest stay was dallas area which wasnt for me i currently live in conroe which i love but overall my favorite was san antonio
I lived in San Antonio for a year and ATX for 10 years. My family resides in the Houston area now. ATX has the best parks and music scene in my opinion (still exploring Houston).
San Antonian born and raised . Love all the cities but SA is a big city , small town feel , unlike H and D SA is hill country not flate and most affordable . Beautiful scenery lot to do , not as exciting as Austin but SA is to me , the best to live . We have the mega mansions like the other cities and gorgeous historical districts but obtainable great living . Love my Texas !
I'm praying the "Wemby effect" results in big companies moving to San Antonio - and offering more white-collar jobs, not just call center/medical/customer service.
I'm looking to move from Florida. I think I'll go with Dallas. I work remote, but my parent company is in Richardson. I was really going to go with Houston, but I'm hearing way too much negativity about Houston. The news is crazy there too!
@@jayforerunner965bro literally has never been to SA 🤣😂 No mention of the huge military presence, family culture, and claims its the smallest of the metroplexes 💀
San Antonio is bigger than Austin. Idk what he’s talking about. I had argument with my cousin in law, who’s from Minneapolis, about it. He lives in Fort Worth with my 1st cousin.
Austin feels more like a proper city and has a higher density, so to many looking at it Austin "looks" biggest than San Antonio. San Antonio metro has about 300K more people, but Austin is on track to beat it in a decade or so.
The largest METRO area is the DFW Metroplex followed by the Houston Metro Area. The largest individual CITIES by population in order from most to least are Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, and Fort Worth. You may have confused people when you mentioned San Antonio has the smallest metro area. It does, but the city itself is the Second largest in Texas.
Actually SA metro is larger than Austin, for the moment as Austin catching up fast and may overtake it in 10-15 years. However, both cities will probably be considered one single megapolis as it almost has 5 million between the two and likely to double in population in the next 30-40 years. Also it has the best freeway system and easy to get from one place to another (not so Austin- worst freeway of any of the large metros) and will get even better with expansion of loop 1604 in the north and NW of the city.
@@ogdnaemoc I only went off the video creator's statement about SA having the smallest metro area. I never researched it because I live in DFW Metro Area, and I knew we have the biggest metro area. You make a good point because I read somewhere that economists are predicting that years from now the Austin and SA Metro areas will merge in to one big metro area. It may overtake the DFW Metro area when that happens.
That's what I like about being in Houston Houston people don't feel the need to have to talk bad or down on the other Texas cities because we know Houston is great unlike other cities talk down on Houston to make them feel great about their City it is all Texas man awesome job on your video
Houston has the best food option, especially if you like Asian and Vietnamese food. Plus, if you blessed enough to have a federal job in Houston, the GS pay is higher then DC! San Antonio is waaaay to expensive for what the city has to offer (from houses, apt to bars). Only entertainment/dining options are the Rim or Downtown. Everything is just dead in between. You either have million dollar homes in Alamo heights area or Dominion, or run down neighborhoods. The airport is small, which may be good, but most of your flights connects through Houston or Dallas. Only nice thing I like about SA is the pretty hill country, but that’s like 25 miles north.

4:20 "San Antonio is the smallest out of these four metro plexes." I am wondering where you found data for that, since everywhere I look Austin is listed as the smallest, both in city/metro population and in size. However, they might even be growing together within the next years so maybe it doesn´t matter so much. Anyway, great video and thanks for the content!
Houston is fast paced life, San Antonio used to be cheap and fun now it’s just fun to visit every now and then, Austin if you can afford to live there is beautiful lots of hippies now though, Dallas is the best like many mentioned above living the DFW has more perks than anything the airport the options of smaller cities to live in and still being close enough to drive to the other places mentioned
I think you're wrong. Many locals visit the Alamo and the Riverwalk daily. It's 15 miles long . The Riverwalk is a heart of our city. Also you left out Pearl and Southtown.
Living in Texas you’ll know that none of these places are the same so there is really no comparison. Visit all four and then choose which is best to your liking. They all offer similar things but also very different things.
I live in Houston but I could live all 4 TX cities. It’s extremely close cause I like all four. But if I’m gonna rank them it would be: Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio.
I thought San Antonio is bigger thzn Austin. Wait until you really explore San Antonio . We have a lot of hills and beautiful country side. There is a lot of music and places to go. I dont know what part of San Antonio you went but its big my friend.
Job wise, I would add that DFW has a considerable aeronautical and defense based industry. Houston also has a thriving Biomedical industry as a result of the medical center. In addition the Houston area has a tremendously impactful for port facility which further stimulates jobs.
My wife & and I are looking forward to visiting S.A & Houston in the summertime. We've been to Dallas twice & once to Austin. We both like Dallas a lot.
I don't do cities. Houston's traffic isn't quite as horrific as it once was but is still too big, Austin was always weird but has added insane to the convo, Dallas is struggling not to follow in some respects (but lots of varying suburbs to look at). I would probably choose San Antonio because many of the suburbs are still decent and the food might be the best of those. If you throw Ft. Worth into the mix, they might be in play. I'm pretty sure you made this video for people that are the opposite of me though. Peace, Love!!

@@ThomasBrenton-pk8gg lmao. Galveston is already accounted for in the Greater Houston metro area by the Census. Greater Houston has 7.5 million residents. DFW has 8.1 million.
One thing to keep in mind with the Houston area is (not speaking from personal experience, just what my common sense tells me), you might want to live in the northern suburbs just for the fact that, when there's a hurricane (think Rita, Ike), if you're north of the city, you can generally "get out of dodge" sooner and faster and evacuate to Austin or Dallas (or anywhere else). Also avoid the southern areas of Houston, especially southeast portions of Houston (e.g., Pasadena), as they really smell from all the pollution from oil refineries, plastics plants, and the like.
@ebinrock naw doesn't matter been on tha Northside my whole life. U get tha same damage and power outage. Power was just out a week with hurricane berly
There's a lot of bad stuff about Houston. The weather is miserable, the crime is scary, the sprawl is annoying, the hurricanes and flooding can be damaging, the traffic is crazy and drivers are even crazier, and outta all the big cities in Texas, Houston is definitely the most rude. HOWEVER, there's so many cool things about Houston (such as the food and the culture) that make it worth it by a long shot. Houston just has such an awesome fun vibe to it that makes it worth living here.
Houston has the most air polluted city out of them all. Dallas has a crazy driving area. Austin is crazy especially after dark. San Antonio is pretty in the outlining areas. I live in the middle of TX. If you want to have a beautiful place to live out of these choose San Antonio out lining areas. If you want the hill country choose San Saba.

San Antonio feels ALWAYS like Home. The rest are just places to visit, like too fancy and expensive, loud, and dangerous 😳... nice to visit NEVER TO LIVE.
You know, it's funny how they are always trying to make San Antonio look like it's the worst place to live but yet people keep coming to San Antonio in droves. It's like no matter how hard someone tries to make San Antonio look bad anyone who's smart enough can figure out that whoever is claiming that San Antonio isn't the best place to live figures out that these people that are claiming that San Antonio is not the place to live at are all racist, and that's why they don't want you to live in San Antonio. But people are smarter than that nowadays thanks to the internet.

Very informative video. I am from New York City and I am strongly considering Texas or Nevada for moving. My question is which city in Texas would you recommend for someone who is in their 40's and is single and lived most of his life in New York City? I guess I would be curious to learn which city in Texas is most similar to New York City if possible? I do drive but at the same time I would be interested in a city which has a mix of driving and local transportation where there is a decent amount of trains or buses for commute to work. Thanks for the great video most appreciated.
The trendy place to live is Austin. Houston is more diverse (Mexican Black Italian Vietnamese etc..) Dallas i dont really know. San Antonio is great low crime (even though lately its starting to look like Houston on the news) The job market in S.A.? I moved here in the 90s and honestly the pay is not good. If you have no skills its not good. The major influence is Mexican American but there are also Italian American (im both on each of my parents side) There are Irish and British. Others as well. The music scene here? Depends on what your in to.
@@stevelira52524 Thanks Stevlra, I just came back from Texas and there were thing's I liked about it and things I didn't. But then again what can you really tell in 1 week? My favorite was San Antonio (shocking) because of the food and the stores and the local communities there had a uniqueness. Austin was cool, I enjoyed Austin a lot, it had a New York vibe but different. Down side was the prices felt too much like New York. Houston was OK, once you traveled far away from the Airport. Things around the Airport area leaves you with a feeling of "I shouldn't be around here". But down town Houston was not to bad I enjoyed the city there. I guess from what you mentioned in terms of employment that is the only thing which concerns me the most. But want to weigh my options out. Is the weather live tampa? here it gets HOT and HUMID....also I hear lots scattered crime towns in houston. Please fill me in :)
I can’t stand the humidity. I grew up in the panhandle, and currently bounce back and forth from the RGV to the panhandle. Out of all these cities, I love Austin, but I prefer the DFW. Great food, great weather…. Good job opportunities. And the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks….. come on now. lol I love that city.
San Antonio is my favorite city. But I could live in any of these cities honestly. Austin would probably be my last pick but I’m just trying to get out of Washington and back to Texas haha
If you are looking for a family, san antonio, if you got out of a family or dont want to settle AUSTIN is the place...Dallas and Houstons night life cannot compare....There is a reason sxsw and ACL our world wide events...So yes price did go up but so did the fun....Not to mention the comedy seen boom here in Austin....
It is must be very advance science in Dallas because of dustless which may be trivia but not smalling at a size of big city and no dusty is very important... My brother told me before but i had not really understanding until higher education in physics and theology
So many people are moving to the RGV and it’s cheaper than all these places but there’s nothing to do here. We have the BEST AUTHENTIC Mexican food in all of America.
I grew up in Austin and although snow is rare, ice happens more often during the winter. Be prepared, since the city really has no equipment to deal with it, other than sand on highways.

It may overtake the DFW Metro area when that happens.

I agree, Dallas is the most cleanest Personally like Dallas most, Houston, San Antonio and then Austin
And they have the worst drivers. I’m saying this as someone from Dallas

I live in Houston but I could live all 4 TX cities. It’s extremely close cause I like all four. But if I’m gonna rank them it would be: Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio.
Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio for me. But I live in Houston lol

Job wise, I would add that DFW has a considerable aeronautical and defense based industry. Houston also has a thriving Biomedical industry as a result of the medical center. In addition the Houston area has a tremendously impactful for port facility which further stimulates jobs.
This is the best explanation of moving to Texas I’ve come across nice work!

Is south east Houston majority black area?
No. I grew up in the southeast area its majority Hispanic. It’s currently going through a gentrification though.
