Hi Luke, THX a lot for this tutorial ! You did a substantial research ! I have not had any DPF issues on my 2016 Hilux Duty /w 2GD-FTV Engine, Euro6, AdBlue and so on... Regen cycles happen regularly about every 300kms and are finished between approx. 15 -30mins. Outside Temperature and Driving Style also play major roles. BUT as i looked into my 5th injector housing after only 28k kms I was a bit shocked - the injector was barely visible ! I am quite sure that this could lead to DPF Problems if not looked after. I managed to clean the soot out completely in about half an hour. Its a pity Toyota Dealerships, also here in Germany, dont do this on a regular base - for this is the most important part for proper regen temps! Hope someday they develop a part or injector housing that has no potential blockage built in. Thanks again, keep up the good work !
Hi Luke, did it this morning with your video for instructions, went well thanks for you help. Intrigued to see the difference, I don't know how to monitor FB value but the DPF isn't getting hot enough when doing a regeneration on the highway (oddly enough works in town and at idle). I report back on how the difference next regen.
Edward Druitt that’s awesome mate. FB value can be read on a OBD2 dongle if you have the PID for it. Or an actual scantool. It’s best to monitor EGT2 temp.
Good video, but what is between the housing and manifold?? Doesn't appear to be a gasket, so some kind of liquid sealant? RTV? Does it have to be heat resistant, fuel resistant? If you reassemble without some kind of sealant or gasket, there's going to be 'blow by' of exhaust gases, guaranteed.
Great video, did you use any type of sealant when you put it back? Seems to have some sort of liquid sealant when you removed the housing, also, do you have the torque specs for the bolts? Cheers mate.
Hey Luke, when you put the injector housing back prior to tightening any nuts/bolts, was a liquid gasket or high temp sealant required inbetween the injector housing/exhaust face where the housing mounts? It appears that there is a white film/sealant in the pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hi Luke, I been searching internet as got a toyota 1.4 d4d Auris that I brought from auctions, driving it home it conked out and eml came on, it started again with eml staying on, it was only when I put my foot down and the revs got to about 2500 when it went into limp mode, I read the codes with my VW code reader and they came up as p1272 and p1229 , I have read so much stuff that's it confusing me!,, My code reader is not a toyota but it translated to fuel injector for cylinder 5 which led me to find this here, I am not sure where injector 5 is or if it even exists on this car, please could you shed any light on my dilemma, thanks very much
NICE instructions Thank you for the upload...could u PLEASE show the location of the "temperature/pressure sensor" on a toyota Avensis 2.2 d4d 2005...please
KM thank you for feedback. Temp sensors and pressure sensors are located around the DPF. Unfortunately I cannot give you any more info as being in Australia that vehicle was never released here.
Joe I have cleaned the EGR and found it to only lightly covered in soot. I have also removed intake manifold and it was a mess, even though I run a catch can the oil was from turbo mist. Intercooler was clean.
James Lin can’t comment if angle is an issue but yes it does fill up with soot. It causes the diesel to dribble out rather than spray which is harder for it to vaporise before it hits the catalyst.
Hi Hassan, a P0017 is a crank / cam correlation code. This could be from stretched chains among several other issues like a bad earth on a cam sensor. So the 5th injector is not in any way related to your code. Hope this helps Cheers
my hilux is a 2021 and as only done 15.000 miles and is dpfing every 40 miles toyota mechanics clean injecter but nothing else. to me it must be running rich and toyota know about this problem cos in austrailia the had to modifie the soft were and adjust the fuel mixture.
best way to clean the injectors plus the engine for that matter is take it to myth busters and see how much dynamite is required to lift the engine into space then buy a more reliable vehicle with a better engine.
Hassan Mahmood ok all good mate. P0093 is a sudden drop in fuel pressure that is monitored from the high pressure side. The 5th injector runs of the supply pump fuel pressure. So it’s not monitored by a pressure sensor. Unfortunately it’s not your problem. If vehicle runs ok at operating temperature but won’t rev when cold a good place to start would be engine temp sensor.
Hassan Mahmood unlikely as it’s not under really any high pressure at all. Even if it was leaking it’s on the wrong side of high pressure pump to cause the trouble code you have.

Thanks for the video Luke, just did mine. The injector hole was completely blocked. I put the housing in my ultrasonic cleaner and it came out great 👍
Hi I have just cleaned my 2015 hilux injector it was completly blocked Its only done 50000km. So many thanks !

Can this 5th injector cause black smoke at high rpm is it blocked or dirty.
HI luke, why is toping up coolant is so important ?
I case you lost any when you disconnect the coolant lines from the housing!!
I have Toyota Auris D4d 2.0 93kw...and i got P1386..i cleaned the 5th injector...but it still shows up ( Check engine )

hi we have the same engine 1gd but i cannot locate the fifth inector .
Nice video mate! Do you know how to clean the EGR as well?

Nc sharing Lods, for Euro 5/6 Toyota GD engines
Asian version Euro 4 no 5th injectors
What are the signs of fifth injector blockage??? Can I dm or Email you??
how many kilometers did the car go?
Виталий Лопатко 90000kms but even with 20000 km it will have substantial build up
Hey mate can you please show me a photo where exactly the injector is and the angle of it?
James Lin can’t put a pic up for some reason.
It’s towards the front drivers side of the engine.
I see, I heard the angle is a bit weird and causing it to be blocked is it true?
James Lin can’t comment if angle is an issue but yes it does fill up with soot.
It causes the diesel to dribble out rather than spray which is harder for it to vaporise before it hits the catalyst.
I see thanks, can you please send me the photo via email? it's james@lin.net.nz cheers.
very good my brother
How to clean toyota diesel engine 1gd injectors repairing

Could it be because of this
Sorry this was the wrong code the car cuts and doesn’t Rev over 1000 rpm when it’s cold but once it’s warmed up its perfect
best way to clean the injectors plus the engine for that matter is take it to myth busters and see how much dynamite is required to lift the engine into space then buy a more reliable vehicle with a better engine.
Please do not clean an injector tip with anything other than solvent and/or ultra sonic bath. No poking at it with anything
Fault code: large fuel leak detected

It happens to me and im shock to find out it was just a loose fuel cap..
