I absolutely fucking LOVE that not even 2 minutes into the video; they throw out “sometimes like a bukkake, you’ve gotta take it on the chin” 😅😂😂 for fucks sake lmao
Makes it feel like this is an old video that they just haven't released. Jules used to make jokes like that all the time, but he stooped around 2020. That, and the old music
Oregon Trail, I dont remember anyone in my class that got to the end of the trail. Some just settled down in the first spot they could, most died (1 comically at turn 2), and the smart ones replayed it as much as we could. It just felt like that whole year the teachers were out to “kill” us in whatever project we were put on, they had such smiles when Oregon Trail was up. Basically, its a get your wagon and head West. Then you run out of food, or animals attack, or natives, or bandits, or nature tries to kill you. And the decisions you made in earlier turns could come back and just kill you. Did I miss anything ?
I think it’s because quitters are the easiest to catch and automate a system of punishment. Grieving/Cheating seems like it would need some sort of review to determine if punishment is needed.
I remember in Zoo Tycoon if you used cheats to get cash your fences would start to crumble and you’d have to replace them to ensure your animals didn’t escape and/or kill your guests. It was a pretty interesting way to deter cheating in the game.
Dont know if anyone mentioned this already, the Wolverine game you spoke about. You took damage every time you used his claws because the claws cut through his skin every time and the game designated that it was during a time when Wolvie’s healing factor was not functioning because of location or suppression (I cant remember which it was). You gave me flashbacks, those are all of the details I remember from the game. It was fun to play although some time ago and I know I dont have the game or the system anymore. That was way back when games came w/these quasi books that you had to read, call manuals; instruction manuals if memory hasnt been messed up by that flashback. Yeah there was an explanation in the manual about it.
For the one where games that punish you for taking a break, if you have a bounty on Assassins Creed Odyssey, a mercenary can still approach and kill you
1:52:00 the crackdown series is amazing and needs more games with more stuff, crackdowns is an actual sandbogame without the ability to create, those games are fantastic fun
I’m still dying for stalker 2 heart of Chernobyl to come out, I will get it on console and pc, pc for the fact it will run way better on a pc plus mods, but on console I will probably play more just through pick up and playability as makes pc gaming to I’m consuming at times
rly enjoying seeing this video...just reached the part where halo infinite is mentioned...rly loved the game. indeed it had some flaws at launch, but it was fun....understandable why it is considered punishable, but now it rly deserved a 2nd chance...a lot of content, game modes and stuff were launched, and it is amazing
46:04 The exploration for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order didn't bother me at all, and the holomap was not, at all, difficult to understand. It was new to me, for sure, but I'd made sense of the holomap navigation rather very quickly, and the lack of a fast travel feature had been explained in some other TH-cam video...the creators of the game had players to be able to enjoy the scenery and the details stuff instead of just warping straight back to the ship and just leaving. From my understanding...they just wanted their work to be admired, and I can understand that. Additionally...I saw the respawning enemies after every save as a bonus...just more xp for me to get another skill point so I can get stronger faster...which I also quickly discovered I could also exploit to unlock all my available skills before I moved on to the next area or mission. I can't say how Fallen Order was for others, but I know that, for me, nothing seemed wrong, and the holomap navigation wasn't really even confusing, and I still occasionally play the game even to today, despite having already gotten everything a long while ago
The correct code for Gradius 3 involved using the shoulder buttons instead of the left and right arrows, but you could only use it as many times as you had completed stages (in addition to the first stage).
Sylvan man, I appreciate your defense of "Make Em Say Uhh". Y'all really are the homies though because maaaannn....anybody who brings up 2Dopeboyz and Lupe this much man, y'all cool with me.
Not a concern for me since my internet connection is 111kbps down and 2kbps up at best and disconnects at minimum 4 times in 10 minutes. So i never touch online or multiplayer anything...problem solved
all these longer videos from whatculture recently are just a collection of previously released content edited together, at first I thought they were doing a big group video but some of the lists within these longer videos have repeat entries lol
I’ve been wishing for the last 10 years we could get another Mass Effect, Fallout 3/New Vegas & KOTOR 2. And we got Andromeda, Fallout 4 & Force Unleashed/Fallen Order.. It’s sad. We want those great rpg story’s back.
The person who created the Evil Cars in Saints Row 2 must have seen the film Maximum Overdrive too many times. My 25 year old daughter still can't use an electric carving knife after watching it.
What did I click on without reading the full title of the video i only read games that punish you. I am in it for the whole thing 2 hours and 35 mintues left lol
Mgs5 is unfinished, people have fished out that the last mission would have been called lord of the flies or something relating to that where snake has to go try and capture Eli who is running a crew of child soldiers. It looked like it would have been a good ending to the story they were telling.
Resident evil 4 - Luis. How many people here rage quit because you lost at that point in the game, because he stepped in front of you and then blamed you for shooting him? Over and over.
I can remember the VP2, and yes, it got me destroyed personally and it took me a long time before realizing that it was because of the codebreaker device I used. Damn
If you think Borderlands is too easy I challenge you to level as much as you can and take on the 4 Legendary Dragons and the end of Borderlands 2's DLC "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep". Even at max level I had to have help to kill all 4.
Where did you hear this about Gradius 3 and the Konami code? I played Gradius 3 for the snes and the code gives you many awesome powers. I used it, especially, in one of the end levels (mostly) because, if you died in that level(s), you started off with nothing. And, having nothing in those levels made them nigh impossible to beat. I should know because I loved that game.
There absolutely is a universe where Mass Effect 3's ending didn't disappoint the fans, and that's a universe where they just actually did the work it would take to create twelve+ endings that all depended on the choices players made throughout the series. Effort and money was the only thing between them and a great ending to the trilogy. They knew it was the last game so they fucked over the player to save money, that's objectively what happened. Maximize profits on the players you're about to lose anyways.
Yeah trying to make the character who brutally murdered the one we played and bonded with for an entire game in a reverse fridging was definitely not a good story move ngl
With the consistent rise in cheaters, any quitter penalty is too much. Stop restricting the amount of engagement your game gets because of 1 bad match. Let it go and continue on.
I feel like, aside from some humorous implementations like the one found in The Witcher, punishing players for "cheating" in their single player games is bad game design. The player bought the game, the player should be able to do with it entirely as they please. It's not too surprising that, for the most part, devs that tried punishing players in these games released and continue to release pretty mediocre games.
League of Legends also throughs you back into a quit or DC'd game. (I think it is awesome when games so this) 😂 Valhalla had me so OP because i did all the sidequests and DLC before beating it, just like my game in Cyberpunk 2077/Phantom Liberty!!
I've ended up beating the oggdo bogdo on my first go through accidentally falling through the holes and surprise hitting him on my first playthrough of the planet, granted it takes a stupid amount of dodging but it can be done, with the falling through the holes (I did it when I first played through the game after platinum it on ps and noticed a button prompt over it; on Xbox I just went ham on it)
If you really want to see a game that punishes you for everything you should play the new stock trading simulator "Diversity Hire". Pro Tip: Never long...
lol for p5r I think it’s worth dating multiple people because that scene that plays is absolutely hilarious and always worth seeing joker get his ass beat 😂
atleast the old games only punishing someone for doing something. unlike newer games that punishing someone only for buying and try to playing it with random crashes, bugs and more.
I'd disagree on Assassin's creed 3 the true game that punished players for caring was the very first rpg one Odyssey such a massive shift for the franchise definitely was not a good choice (even trying to backtrack somewhat has only given Ubisoft a modicum of fan trust back)
I absolutely fucking LOVE that not even 2 minutes into the video; they throw out “sometimes like a bukkake, you’ve gotta take it on the chin” 😅😂😂 for fucks sake lmao
I made a comment about it💀😭 it was at 1:03 and reverse sweeped me🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just watched it now, how can they get away with it? 😂
Yeah, I was like WTF 😅 what kind of videos he watches...
1:03 ....... 💀😭😭😭 I did not expect you to come out with that LOL
Same here... Wtf
😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂

Nor did the person taking it on the chin...
Can't tell you guys how happy i was to hear some of the old music from this channel. I miss the old opening sounds. Plus the ones you used here.
I missed the part where that's my problem.
You Britts don’t understand the struggle of the Oregon Trail.. if it weren’t for that exact game your entire country would have no idea. 🥺
What??

I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm just going to say two that instantly come to mind: Pathologic 2 and Fear & Hunger.
The most surprising thing in this video is Scott hasn't seen Batman Beyond
best batman series
"Sometimes, like a bukaki, you have to take it on the chin". Jules Gill, wordsmith of a generation
Surely there's a better way to phrase "increase your ring capacity"?! 🤣🤣🤣
My god that bukaki joke was good
For the one where games that punish you for taking a break, if you have a bounty on Assassins Creed Odyssey, a mercenary can still approach and kill you
You left out Ryuji's text message it was the icing on top lol
I just worked (heard) the meaning of your 'One per list'...mentioning your Mom...lol.

we all just gonna ignore the Bukakke bit in the beginning? ok cool
That was the best part
I like the idea of Kratos being overpowered. Truly makes me feel like a god running through and crushing everything
You do get punished if you snipe the End on the dock. A piece of his wheelchair hits you. Kojima does think of everything.
I beat OG Skies of Arcadia on the DREAMCAST back in the day!

Konami Code DOSE give lives in Gradius III but it has to be done at the Title screen NOT in the middle of the game.
I know a guy in Eve who had to make a spreadsheet to manage all his other spreadsheets.
I can see rage quit sucking, but then again, some people do need to stop for other reasons. And it sucks to be punished for that.
