      Boys with the right family connections, always joined British ships as junior officers.
      The book “Mutiny On The Bounty” was based on the experiences of Peter Heywood. He was 15 when William Bligh took him onboard the Bounty. He didn’t have a rank but was treated as a junior officer on the Bounty.
      He wanted to join Bligh in the launch but there wasn’t room for him.

    Anyone remember the Cartoon Network show 'Mike, Lu, and Ogg' about a girl from New York who becomes an exchange student on an island?
    And all the natives have British accents and European names and adopt a few British customs despite still being stereotypically 'native'?
    And the reason they're like that is because the original inhabitants were Brits and Pirates who crashed landed there?
    And all the inhabitants are related to each other?
    Yeah, it seems the real life inspiration for that is a LOOOOT darker, huh?

    “And the criminals who founded it…and the criminals who live there today.”
    Fixed that for you, since I think somewhere around a third to half of the men on the island are convicted sex criminals. Apparently sex crimes against children were and presumably still is a custom there.

    The first I heard of Bounty mutineer descendants was actually because of Norfolk Island which until around 2015, was an External Territory of Australia, had its own immigration, legislative and judicial system. But bankruptcy (again) meant the Australian commonwealth government revoked its special status despite protests from the locals and it's currently run as a local government with state based services provided first by NSW, then Qld since 2022.

    Children require special entry clearance from NZ because of a "child welfare charter". Even still they say they encourage families with children to settle there, although the school closed in 2023 according to Wikipedia.

  • @Derek032789
    @Derek032789 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    If I had to guess, that settlement won't exist in 50 years. They're not replacing themselves. They'll eventually die out.

      They have been saying that about Pitcairn for centuries now. Pitcairn’s population was even once cleared for Norfolk Island, but some of the Pitcairners returned. Good thing too. After those islanders returned, a French ship was spotted headed for Pitcairn to plant the French flag and claim the island. But when they saw the island inhabited, they turned around and left.
      I’ve read elsewhere that Pitcairn receives many applications from perspective immigrants. But few are actually accepted. Can’t figure that one out. I don’t think many on the island are young enough to have kids.
      If what you say comes true, it’ll be a crying shame.

    Its just so wild to think of just bringing 11 women you just met on a ship with you for sex. How does that conversation happen? Is this just passport bro ing 300 years ago?

    • @SteveZee-r8i
      @SteveZee-r8i 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The story is a lot worse than that. It’s an example of yet another crime committed by Fletcher Christian.
      One night they were having a party onboard Bounty. In the middle of the party, Fletcher ordered the anchor line to be cut and to start sailing out to sea. The next day, Fletcher ordered as many Tahitian men into a small, decrepit boat to head back to Tahiti. Then Bounty permanently left.
      In a nutshell, Fletcher Christian kidnapped those poor girls (one was a baby that eventually married Fletcher’s son). But they weren’t sex slaves. Fletcher was married to one of them and absolutely no one touched his girl. Even after he died, she only raised their three children; Thursday October, Charles and Mary.

      Pitcairn belongs to a group of islands. The only island names I remember are Henderson Island and Ducie Island.
      These islands are more atoll-like islands and really can’t support life. Little or no water.
      I think one of these islands is mentioned in the tribe story of “Moby Dick”. After Exeter was sunk by a whale, the survivors reached one of those islands. But they exhausted all the island’s fresh water real fast and had to leave.

    • @SteveZee-r8i

      Correct.
      The Englishmen were married to the Tahitian girls. After their husbands were murdered, at least two of the Tahitian men were killed by the widows.
