My favorite line of the movie:
"Remember when we were gonna get your teeth fixed? But instead we spent the money on Francis's Toupee!"
    Then the comeback of:
    "I DON'T WEAR A HAIRPIECE!!!"

One of the movies that defined being an 1980's kid, and as being an 80's kid i can proudly say that we are and will allways be a goonie, the last free generation

Nah, I'm also an 80's kid, but 90's kids were free too. Even up through the mid 2000's things were pretty good. Things didn't really start going south until the woke takeover that started in the early-mid 2010's.

I was 9 years old when the Goonies hit theaters and it's still one of my most cherished memories: My mother took me and my cousins to the movies and afterwards we went to Pizza Hut for a sitdown dinner... Such a great day.

Wow! I was five in 85’ and I watched it few years later on British television on a Sunday afternoon at Christmas and it blew me away. I wished I was a goonie like the rest of us did as seeing outsiders be together and confident and then heroic hit me deeply. I love that you saw it in the theatre and that thousands of miles apart we had that same experience. Art really is a different kind of connection for human beings man❤️

  • @silversoozookee2839
    @silversoozookee2839 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Being born and raised in Oregon,
& Watching the Goonies when it came out (& almost once a year since 😁)
That movie definitely embodied the grey rainy youth of everyone I knew,
Imaginations sharp and active, full of wild fanciful daydreaming.
The characters of Goonies and the storyline was so precisely accurate to the adventure of the woods, the coast, the ramshackle buildings throughout Oregon - kids everywhere could immediately connect with and identify the same type of experience,
In enjoying the wild nomadic fantasy on the screen.
Even to this day I live as a "Goonie"
Climbing trees when nobody is watching, so I can see if a pirate ship is on the horizon,
Caves in eastern Oregon and hiking trails in silver falls,
Running the Hobbit trails on the coast,
Swimming at millpond or slipping down the rock slides,
All perfect time warps back to my childhood -
    Goonies never say die 😊

I happily quote Mama Frittelli by saying: "This is a real treat."
I never knew this exisited. Seeing the Sloth makeup process was so cool. Now, what really struck me as new was hearing the late, great, Lupe Ontivoros speaking WITHOUT her accent. I never knew that about her. My god. She had me convinced my entire laugh that her accent was real. Bravo señora.
Richard Donner and quite a bunch of the supporting cast have passed on since this doc was made. I say there should never be a sequel and for damn sure, NO REMAKE / RE-IMAGINING. Leave Goonies alone and respect the legacy that Donner and company left for us.

Thank you for this upload Ron! I was in Astoria for 2 weeks during the making of The Goonies. Reason I was there was at the time, the US Navy had an ammunition offload facility there--bullets, large projectiles, small missiles, etc.. During that 2 weeks of stay, it rained alot--my kind of weather, loved it. I was lucky to witness and watch 2 week's worth of Speilberg shooting the scenes. I loved the movie before it was released! Kinda a funny thing--Speilberg lived in this piece of crap GMC motorhome on site. It can be seen in the movie, camera shot is from upstairs and shooting down to the lot.

They say this movie was made with love, and that's why it's such a classic success...but I think it's beyond that. I think it's right timing in the 80's golden era movie industry as well as pop culture. That's what made movies like "The Goonies" and sit-coms "The Wonder Years" into such an icon. The 80's to early 90's was the nostalgic wonder years for most of us.

if i was to pick at least one film from my childhood, that i absolutely loved watching in the cinema, and that i still hold fond memories of it in my heart, it would be 100% the goonies, and i don`t know what it was about growing up during the 80`s, but by god we had some brilliant films to watch: the goonies, back to the future, weird science, risky business, ferris buellers day off, pretty in pink, some kind of wonderful, the empire strikes back, and return of the jedi, ghostbusters, raiders of the lost ark, and the temple of doom, et, harry and the hendersons, short circuit, space camp, the last star fighter, transformers the movie, girls just want to have fun, fame, wargames, the breakfast club, the lost boys, gremlins, annie, popeye, flash gordon, labyrinth, young sherlock holmes, return to oz, the karate kid, my god even now we have some very special films to look back upon, and while i`m sure that growing up as a kid may have been great growing up during the 50`s, or the 60`s, but then these were not my decades, and as i was born during the 70`s, and i grew up during the 80s, the 80`s at least for me being a kid was at least fun sometimes, and you could have grown up in a worse decade than that, the 80`s where everyone was obsessed with computers, and video games, and going to the arcade, and no doubt the likes of pacman took our pocket money, we was all trying to complete our sticker albums, there was goodness how many good films to see at the cinema, we was really treated to some of the best tv ever, and this was especially true if we was watching cartoons, if you was really badly into your toys, as the decade went on lego just kept on getting better, and better, there was plenty of new board games to play, if you liked your figures, then the likes of playing with, star wars, he man, and transformers toys, meant that you was never bored or spoilt for choice when it came to have adventures with them, and if you didn`t have a bmx bike or whatever then you really felt missed out, and by me simply watching this documentary, i can see that the cast had lots of fun making this film, and no doubt that means that they made a film, that is not easily forgotten by us, not of course that we would want it too, and while i may indeed watch the latest shiny, and new film, and think wow about its special effects or whatever, it`s films like the goonies which will always remind me of long ago, and which will always stay in my heart.

The bit at the end where Data says "The octopus was really scary" is so funny considering there was supposed to be one in the movie.
