As a little boy I fell in love with the 1st movie. It was the first time I watched a movie and felt wrapped up by the characters, the comedy, the effects and the music all at once. The first time I wanted to dance during a movie. Next was Beverly Hills Cop and these 2 movies were why I spent the 80s constantly begging mum and dad for trips to the movies.
Born in 1980, I'm a 43 year old Hong Kong dude who grew up with Ghostbusters. I'll never forget the joy and excitement the original movie brought to my childhood, along with my love for all the 80's action figures, the cartoon, the song, and even the video games (and yes, even the nes version, but mostly the Genesis one), and now as an adult, I find myself still collection Mezco ghostbusters, and still lookin at pictures of Ecto-1 as well as proton packs and ghost traps merchandises online. The shot of Egon's ghost at the end of Afterlife brought me to tears, and this franchise will hold a special place in my heart.
@@neilgodwin6531 Alternatively, it can refocus you towards what's actually important, raising your kids and being there for them when mom isn't. He's rich, accomplished, loved, and respected, there was no need for him to continue his career, as much as it cost the rest of the world. That said, I still think the guy in NYC who tried to kill him should get the chair...
The original Ghostbusters may be my favorite movie ever. When I was a kid, my mom somehow got passes when it was released. We weren’t “living-hand-to-mouth” poor, but we didn’t have money for extras like going to first-run movies in a theatre. So when she got those passes, it was just me and her going to have this movie experience together (my dad stayed home with my little brother), and it’s the greatest movie memory of my childhood. I will love the original Ghostbusters forever.
The very first movie I saw in a theater was the original Ghostbusters in 1984. I had seen the commercials thinking I would never have the chance to experience it, but my uncle took me to it at the local theater and I've been a fan ever since. It even inspired me to get into paranormal investigations.
The soundtracks of the first two Ghostbuster movies were both childhood favorites of mine, featuring Oingo Boingo, Fine Young Cannibals, two insanely catchy Bobby Brown songs, "I Can Wait Forever," the iconic theme music, and others. We had the first one on record, and the second on cassette, and both were a treat.
Ghostbusters 2 was the first one I got to see in the theater. To this day, I’ve never been more excited for a movie. I had such a blast watching it ❤️👻
hearing about how hard it was for the original movie to get green lit and the other hardships that came with the development of the film makes me appreciate the film even more on top of it just being a straight up classic. Awesome documentary!
Born in the early 80s, I came into this world watching Ghostbusters. I obsessed over the movie and cartoon when I was a kid so much it became a part of me. I had all of the toys and action figures, too. Even at 41 I still pop in my Blu-ray collection of GB1 & 2 like I used to do with the VHS tapes so many years ago, and I enjoy watching it so much more as an adult. I just got through watching them again and the nostalgia always leaves me wanting more. Of course, I had to watch a documentary on the history of the franchise, and that's how I ended up here. I always wondered why the original cast never made a 3rd movie, and now I know why. As solid and worthy as Afterlife and Frozen Empire are to be Ghostbusters films, they did well enough in the transition to a new generation, which is a lot less arbitrary than changing the characters completely like in the all-female cast. But, even with that, The Ghostbusters, to me, will always be Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. I wish they could have made a successful final sequel before Harold Ramis died. I always thought it would be awesome if one of the Ghostbusters movies could have taken a much darker, more serious epic horror-film-like path. Maybe that would be a great idea for a 8-part series one day.
I refuse to watch Ghostbusters Answer the Call. I believe it is a slap in the face of Ghostbusters fan everywhere. Ghostbusters Afterlife was what we needed
The idea of kid Ghostbusters was not much better. The "Junior Ghostbusters" ruined the cartoon and it didn't do much for me in the new movies either, sorry just my opinion.
I had zero objection to them doing a female cast movie. I gave it a chance, it just wasn't funny, I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters and Chris Hemsworths character was painful to watch and kinda offensive. They completely missed everything that made Ghostbusters good.
@@jonbourgoin182I don't see how Ghostbusters Extreme ruined a cartoon that was no longer on the air. I appreciated how they handled the source material.
-Back then I was at my friend Debbie's house , going thru her music when I came across an old cassette , Thin Lizzy Live" . I asked if I could borrow it and she said yeah So That night we are in bed with the tape playing and reminiscing when suddenly we heard " click it it on ? Yeah Go "Who you gonna call Ghdtbustrs"" Debs kids had gotten hold of what the thought was an old tape plugged up the hole and recorded themselves singing . We laughed so hard we nearly wet ourselves
I love James Acaster! How did I not know about this? Regarding ATC (2016), seeing the female characters cast as heroes and the male as a himbo put me off. Annie Potts wasn't just a secretary, she was efficient, intelligent and dedicated "I've quit better jobs than this" she says, so obviously experienced as a PA / secretary
Yeah… it helps is you know the difference between “piece” and “peace”.. you should run for office, you’d do very well and I hear there might be an opening soon
Great doc it hit all the big themes and nails from the franchise. I’m 44 and I have been a fan since I can remember as a kid. This video and every doc about the process of making a movie reminds us that movie making is a giant group project and the results vary greatly and include a lot of happenstance and just plain luck. Cheers!
1984 the year of iconic classic movies. Ghostbusters Gremlins Beverly Hills Cop Terminator A Nightmare on Elm street Sixteen candles Police Academy Purple Rain Karate Kid....etc. Theyll never make movies like these again. I grew up in the 80s with ghostbusters and completely disgusted when they made answer the call it was crap. Afterlife looks like it may be true to the originals and i might give it a chance though.
@@johnedward8352 Thanks peace to you also. I was 5 then and remember it all. It absolutely was the last great decade well the 90s had its moments. I will eventually check out afterlife. Im still leery about Frozen Empire though.
More Ghostbusters!!! By the original family and friends cast members! I personally hated Ghostbusters 2016 for a reason! I was 10 years old when I watched the original 1984 movie. It's been apart of my life. Well done on such a great video!!!! Seriously you kept me engaged from the beginning. I learned a lot from this. BM either saved it or killed it tbh. At least he came back for afterlife and Frozen Empire. Better late than never!!! As they say.❤
Murray is overrated, his ego is the size of a planet. Not answering repeated messages is just rude, even if you get a staff member or agent to do it., at least acknowledge it. His appearance in Quantumania didn't help the film one iota. It was still pisspoor
I enjoyed this. But I wish you would've mentioned the late Michael Gross. He had been Art Director for National Lampoon Magazine and also designed the iconic Ghostbusters logo.
My favourite cinema experience. I went with a few friends for the first Saturday matinee at the Odeon. There were thousands turned up for a few hundred seats. The foyer was packed but we managed to get in. Still nowhere near the ticket booth we gave the smallest guy our money and sent him crawling along the floor to get the tickets. He got there just before the police arrived to control the crowd. In the theatre the film started and the place was buzzing. As soon as Ray Parker Jr started to sing so did everyone else. About halfway through the song the film was stopped. The manager came to the front and demanded we all calm down and stop or he wouldn't restart the film. Needless to say a lot of popcorn got wasted on him. He gave up and we carried on singing. I have never seen so much excitement for a film and it didn't disappoint.
My earliest memory of Ghostbusters is the spring of '84, my last semester of college, driving around Long Island and seeing posters stapled to phone poles bearing this strange logo of a red "NO" symbol over a ghost. No words. No date. Not even a title. Just the logo. And I was seeing it _everywhere_ ! (...and Ghostbusters 2 was the last movie I ever saw at a drive-in.)
I know that the 2016 detour was widely disliked for various reasons, but if what is said is true, that he didn’t want to disrespect the original, he has earned a bit of respect. That doesn’t change the fact that the film produced was a lemon. But you are allowed to fail occasionally. The main problem the movie ended up with apart from the reboot issues is that the dislike took on political undertones, and at least parts of the cast was happy to play along.
Never argue with the audience. They ultimately pay your salary. Captain Marvel and the Marvels both flopped. Largely because Cheese Larson and others laid into the paying MCU audience. Doctor Who is currently failing badly, because (imo justified) criticism of the poor script and weak plotlines was met with a barrage of borderline abuse from Ncuti Gatwa and a drag queen no one had heard of. People hate being lectured and spoken down to. Feig and others were unspeakably rude instead of taking the high ground and discussing the reasons people didn't like it like adults. If they had done so, we might be seeing a reappraisal of the film. They made such a reconsideration impossible by their attitude
@@neilgodwin6531 Yeah, you’re right. It’s been a while since the whole debacle and I almost forgot about Feig’s and some of the actors attitudes. That left a very sour and bitter taste in my mouth as well. The film as such is just bad, and can be tolerated as a dud. But the creators’ behaviour is harder to overlook. Nevertheless I tend to adhere to the philosophy of separating art from the artist, so I think I am far more forgiving than many, especially on the internet. That being said, I have very little interest in spending any mental effort, and even less, spending any money on revisiting that train wreck of a movie.
@@neilgodwin6531 Its so annoying as I loved Captain Marvel and especially The Marvels, after getting pretty much bored with the Marvel franchise. Ms Marvel was a breath of fresh air to me in general, especially loved the art style of mixing comic book like assets into the show, which is something I usually hate but it was done so tasteful.
@neilgodwin6531 That is exactly what I said. Most of the problems of that film were basically the reactions of the cast and director of the movie. Instead of doing what you said, they went after people simply because they didn't like the trailer. Furthermore, the impact that Afterlife had made those who were behind Answer The Call felt guilty for not respecting the audience.
Amazing work Man! I seen a few Ghostbusters behind the scenes and documentaries and this ones had a lot of things the other ones didn't, and it was very entertaining! Saludos from Chihuahua!
I wish I could speak to Sony executives and the directors, producers and everyone involved. I have so many ideas for the franchise and stories. Alas I am an aging actor with no agent and no way to get in contact... basically I'm a nobody! I loved every minute of this video! You sound a lot like Casey Kasem! It made listening so much more enjoyable. Thank you!
Thank you for doing this in-depth, comprehensive documentary. I enjoyed every bit of it and, as a Ghostbusters enthusiast, there were many facts I didn't know until this. It's funny to think we could've had Eddie Murphy as the 4th, but I'm glad Ernie won the role!
Marketing couldn't decide what 2016 was going to be. Sequel? Remake? They tried to sell it as both, but its audience wasn't there. The fans of the franchise, from opening day in 1984, the kids who had the toys, drank the Hi-C Ecto Cooler at lunchtime, who watched the first cartoon series and played the games...THEY said, "This is not our Ghostbusters." WE said, "If you love this crap, then you buy the tickets. You buy the action figures and all the tie-ins you want. YOU support this new direction. We'll stick with our old franchise, ladies."
Whoever thought Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was a mediocre movie, does not have good taste. The most awfullest was the one with a all female cast. Frozen Empire was a awesome movie compared to even Ghostbusters 2. Some people just do not know what greatness is.
Man, Dan has some wild ideas...lol. If he got his way, we would have some pretty insane Ghostbusters stories. Awesome video!! Thank you! It really took me back.
I remember when I was a just 7-8 years old, me, my older sister who was 9-10 at the time went with my dad, to the local store to rent out videos of The Real Ghost Busters old classic cartoons on the old VHS tapes, I basically grew up watching those cartoons after school everyday. I used to love watching the old classic Real Ghost Busters cartoons. Never seen any of the remakes, I have the first two films on DVD & BD Blue Ray Disc set, I still love the first two movies, you know what they say, they don't make em like they used to. Films nowadays tend to be not made with the same kind of feel to them, everything's different now, it's a different generation, didn't feel the same to films now than when it was back then. I love the older films of Ghost Busters.
I'm with you. The Real Ghostbusters was my favorite cartoon, even moreso than GI☆JOE & Transformers. I still want a RGB proton pack. Yeah, movies do feel different. I can't tell if it's nostalgia clouding my judgment or if it's objectively worse. Movies feel way to corporate these days.
Yeah I am a lot older than my partner and by the time it came out I was too old for it but she had me watching Shrek one night to experience something she grew up with. So I wanted her to experience something I grew up with so I had her watch the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film with me. Yeah they just HIT different back then much more adult themed, darker & grittier. We would eventually watch Ghostbusters 1 & 2. :)
I'm an Extremely Huge Fan Grew up on it LOVED Everything that has been done I Want this New Franchise to continue for along time to come...Thank you✌️😎
First they get mad about 2016 not being good and now they’re getting mad about Jason Wrightman saying the 2016 movie was not good for fans, can anything satisfy them!
@@bridgetclement2968 I really hated the group, there were moments where individually they were funny, but they clashed horribly every time they were together and I couldn't understand why they thought being so overtly sexist to their secretary made sense. While the original movies might have sexism in them, it never portrayed it as being an okay way to behave, which I felt the 2016 movie very much did. It just reinforced the often claimed idea that feminism is about attacking men, rather than treating everyone with respect.
Ghostbusters has huge potential! I would love to see other GhostBuster movies made. When GB 2016 came out, I wrote a script on how to fix it. Maybe I will share that story later. Other co-workers loved it, but said they didn't like GB 2016 movie enough to save it. For a new GB movie plot: The dates of the Gozer temple are very important. I was writing a script that tied in real life into the 1883, 1908, and 1945 dates. It connected how Egon knew "don't cross the streams" and Ray picking up instantly on the "total protonic reversal", how it closed the last two previous Gozer portals. My script was based on Gozer being the precursor of a larger entity who allowed Gozer to secure the realm first. Because Gozer didn't return, it meant Gozer was the dominion of earth ushering in this new adversary. So understanding what Egon had been researching leads to the library lady holding the secrets to total protonic reversal of another Mad Scientist who closed an internal dimensional portal in Tunguska 1908. These group of paranormal inquisitors were in-part some of the inspiration Egon and Ray had when they met in college. The concept of crossing the streams originated from interconnecting beams of lights. One beam was a transmitter and the other was a receiver, but both connected through the ionosphere to conduct massive high frequency spectral power. Since the ionization rate of ghosts were not discovered at this time, the thought was to create an overwhelmirng beam of ionized particles to change the ionization of the ghosts, then overwhelm the ghost ionization with supercharged electrostatic spectral frequencies. Connecting two light beams together caused the underpowered receiver to act as a backfire conduit for the stronger beam. Hence crossing the beams meant one would overpower the other and cause the weaker beam to explode gat thre speed of light as it did in Tunguska 1908 (still a misunderstood event) Using the magnetic north the team set up the weaker beam aligned to the magnetic north to create an Aurora Borealis effect of which the stronger transmitter aimed at the magnetic north of the Aurora Borealis, this created an around the globe charged firing weapon into the Tunguska Gozer portal. The library lady was given the plans charged with safeguarding these secrets in a book the librarian ghost lady is often seen reading. She was murdered to obtain the backfiring protonic reversal device. But after death, she warned the team that Ivo Shandor was hunting them after making contact through a spirit listening device in a high frequency laboratory in New York she knew about. Nikola Tesla's life spans through 1883 to 1943. Tesla read many books his father gave to him, one was about ancient Samarian gods and Tesla was fascinated with the paranormal (essentially copying Dan Aykroyd's life fascination in the paranormal). Tesla used his earthquake machine to create the 1883 Krakatoa eruption to stop Gozer the first time as a cover for traveling abroad. Then Tesla created a weapon which would vaporize spectral entities instead of trapping them (a divergence of Ghostbusters trapping them to escape later). This technology was shared only with a few people including the librarian ghost lady. The 1945 return of Gozer leads the crew to operate the portal closing device, but without the inventor who died 2 years prior. The portal is closed, but kill the remaining two crew who were also being hunted down by Ivo Shandor. So the only one who knows of this technology is a dead librarian (of whom the GB have not caught). The 1945 plan to stop Gozer succeed, but Ivo barely excaped. I've Shandon rebuilt the penthouse in the first GB movie. Ray and Winston help the new GBs and GB engineering redesign the Storage facility to parcel out Gozer into separate containers and figure out how to extract partial entities from the firehouse storage facility. The GB group have to study what Egon had knowledge of and talk with the librarian ghost lady for the secrets to stop this new advisory. The Ghostbusters will have to build a new mobile platform and find a way how to power the protonic reversal device from their collective creative geniuses. It could be a two part movie. Everything listed is based on real science and an alternate Nikola Tesla theory to the Tunguska blast that fits in nicely to the back story of Egon, Tesla, the librarian lady, and the Ghost Corps universe. What are your thoughts?
I think the animated episode where the Ghostbusters went to France could have been a movie for an '87 or '88 release. Dana could be involved because she took a job to Paris after her breakup with Peter. She could have a connection to the villain while the Ghostbusters study the Eiffel Tower as the world’s largest ghost container unit on the verge of breaking down.
I didn't pan the 2016 Ghostbusters because of any issues with women or any ethnicity, I actually find all of the cast to be very funny. However, I hated the thought that they were recasting the original characters and completely destroying the previous universe that was created. I would have loved to have seen all of the same cast doing new characters with their own personalities putting a unique spin on them. It was a missed opportunity from them, but I never regretted not seeing it. I had too much respect for the original material to want to take part in its destruction, I just wished the studio had thought the same.
This was the most fun I’ve had watching any video longer than 10 minutes in ages. Only Ghostbusters content can keep my fractured attention span in check long enough to relive the history of my favourite franchise with some amazing facts I hadn’t known. Thank you for this epic.
My Ghostbusters fandom goes back to The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. I was born in the mid 80's so was too young for the original film but vividly remember the cartoon first. Ghostbusters 2 was probably the first Ghostbusters film i saw. I loved Afterlife, i thought it was a perfect sequel, emotional and stayed true to the original. Frozen Empire, whilst i enjoyed it i felt it was too much of a leap. There was a lot going on, i smiled all the way through it but felt at the end there should of been a movie between Afterlife and Frozen Empire. It's definitely my least favourite of the 4 "canon" films
Great job! The original and 2016 version are my favorites. I remember seeing the original at the movies. My mom didn't have much money, so it was a treat. I love the 2016 one. Those actresses are awesome. My husband loves it too!
The first time I wattched the movie was on my grandma's crappy little TV back when I was 6 or 7. I got immediately hooked by the moivie. The packs, the CAR, the overall atmosphere.. Began a ghosthead this very day. I saw all the other movies in theaters, and at one time I wore the hell out of my VHS as I was watching GB1 or 2 ON A DAILY BASIS. Since then I never ceased to love this franchise.
I liked Ghostbusters 2. I don't know why everyone hates it. Obviously, it ain't no Ghostbusters 1. But still a fun movie that I thought was funny in its own right.
So did I when you're a kid you don't notice that shit especially back then with no internet. Like a lot of franchises that only really have 2 films (not counting the recent two) there's shit you like better about the second film and there's shit you like better about the first film. What's another movie that only had 2 parts? Oh YEAH... Home Alone! 🤐😂
Okay I'm gonna get corrected here 🙄 so I'm just gonna explain myself... In MY brain... much like there are only two Ghostbusters films, Home Alone 3 & 4 do NOT exist!
I'm very glad that the only bias in this video is in favor of the franchise, it's a breath of fresh air from a lot of the negativity online about these movies. I've loved Ghostbusters since I was a little kid and I'll never stop loving it. Great video!
I've watched Ghostbusters since I was in the first grade, I'm 21 going on 22 and after this long I've finally made the decision to buy a proton pack kit!! It's looking absolutely beautiful but still in the process of building it, I'm trying to be as close as possible to making what the production team for the second movie called a "semi hero" which mine will be my own personal version but also keeping it movie accurate. I've actually enjoyed this video especially the history with the third movie that was never made, I've actually heard about this a long time ago but still remember the details wishing Harold would've loved longer to make it happen
I wasn't born when the original came out in 1984. I was 4 when the 2nd one came out. Grew up watching the movies during Halloween. Also loved the Cartoon
Leslie Jones wasn't attacked by racists and sexists. She couldn't handle the fact her movie was bad and made the claim people were attacking her for those reasons. Very similar to how Disney copes with bad criticism for their lousy Star Wars shows/films.
Definitely. Nowadays, anytime someone uses the "RaCiStS!" Or "SeXiStS!" Buzzwords, it is just code for: "I didn't like the criticism that I received from fans so they are the problem, not me." Smh
Wow. This is great. I never knew “I want a new drug” was being used as background music on set and then sent to Ray Parker on tape. I mean it just doesn’t sound as underhanded that way. Not Parker’s fault really.
I went to see Ghostbusters the night it released. I went 7 more times the following week. I’m 53 now and have never seen any other film more than twice. The SPFX floored me. And remains in my top 5 films ever.
My favorite was Egon holding a straight face while signaling to Pete the amounts. Just the way they read each ither to know how to even begin that. They knew each other so well to pull some flim-flam. And the fact that they were so hastily assembled (ad hoc) that they never discussed the invoice prior.
I got maurice lamarche aka Egon Spangler from the real ghostbusters signature for the real ghostbusters dvd I have. It was done at comic con of this year.
personally i would have liked and respected the girl version much more if they would have made them like a franchise of the OG ghost busters. not trying to replace them with girls. i hate it when they do that. they take something that is established and try to remake it with gender or race swap and its insulting to everyone. they recently rebooted Matlock replacing him as a her... it would have been fine if they would have made the main character his daughter or grand daughter. but no they have to insult everyone and replace him with her... the newest ghost busters replace a main charter with a girl. and its great ! i love it. it makes since. and there not replacing the exact character with a gender swap version. i wish the makers or these tv shows and movies would see that. when they made Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and made a black Spider man in a alternate unaverse its great, it makes since. they didnt try to race swap the OG spiderman.
I got a line for the next movie...( here goes)..."Do Not Open until Doomsday... If you understand that line you'll know were I'm going with it... would be great 👍 just a suggestion...

My mom bought me the VHS 1987. I played it everyday after school and so much she had to buy another one. I ruined the tape from constant use! I love GB. I still have all my action figures.
I loved the girl Ghostbusters. 2016 was a very stressful horrible year for me, and that movie was one of the things that got me through it. I think people had made up their minds to hate it before it ever even came out.

Just wished they had Ivo Shandor as the main villain instead of Gozer, he died dirty in Afterlife but it was okey much better then the 2016 trash.
I had zero objection to them doing a female cast movie. I gave it a chance, it just wasn't funny, I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters and Chris Hemsworths character was painful to watch and kinda offensive. They completely missed everything that made Ghostbusters good.
Afterlife was AWESOME! Love that movie.
Awesome job guys!! This was right up there with Galaxy Quest, my fav by you guys, so far. Great work!!
Thank you! Appreciate the support :)
Ghostbusters is a key moment of my childhood, i can honestly say it's been a franchise that has brought me piece and happiness as an adult
Yeah… it helps is you know the difference between “piece” and “peace”.. you should run for office, you’d do very well and I hear there might be an opening soon
This documentary is so well put together!
Great doc it hit all the big themes and nails from the franchise. I’m 44 and I have been a fan since I can remember as a kid. This video and every doc about the process of making a movie reminds us that movie making is a giant group project and the results vary greatly and include a lot of happenstance and just plain luck. Cheers!
Love Rick Moranis but oh God , Candy so would have been fun in that role as well!
I think Candy would have played a ghost better! Kind of a Madhatter type!
Just look at that list of movies from 1984... all classics. Was 84 the greatest year for movies ever?
1984 the year of iconic classic movies. Ghostbusters Gremlins Beverly Hills Cop Terminator A Nightmare on Elm street Sixteen candles Police Academy Purple Rain Karate Kid....etc. Theyll never make movies like these again. I grew up in the 80s with ghostbusters and completely disgusted when they made answer the call it was crap. Afterlife looks like it may be true to the originals and i might give it a chance though.
@Liz19791 Afterlife was pretty good! Very nostalgic. Agree completely about 1984. I was 7. Such a great decade! Peace to you Liz 😊
@@johnedward8352 Thanks peace to you also. I was 5 then and remember it all. It absolutely was the last great decade well the 90s had its moments. I will eventually check out afterlife. Im still leery about Frozen Empire though.
1981 was a good year for films…
"It failed to reach their expectations as highest grossing comedy of all time." :D
Amazing doco. Well done, this should be definitely the official history and should be on a future disk 😊
🤗Shane, great job. This should be a Blu-ray extra.
Thank you Penny! You are awesome :) 🥰
FOR SURE !
The female ghostbusters movie should be labelled a crime against cinema
Hi didn't like gb2 as much as gb1, the problem I had with gb2 was the time of the year, Christmas new years, it was too cheesy.
The reboot was terrible because they tried too hard to feminise it.
Ideological propaganda has ruined many franchises. Luckily Afterlife provided a good ending that most fans wanted to see i think.
@danielgyllenbreider Exactly 💯
Also, Leslie Jones can sit down with her Conspiracy Theory comments.
hemsworth was really funny though
More Ghostbusters!!!
By the original family and friends cast members!
I personally hated Ghostbusters 2016 for a reason!
I was 10 years old when I watched the original 1984 movie. It's been apart of my life.
Well done on such a great video!!!!
Seriously you kept me engaged from the beginning. I learned a lot from this. BM either saved it or killed it tbh.
At least he came back for afterlife and Frozen Empire.
Better late than never!!! As they say.❤
I enjoyed watching ghost buster 2016 , , ,
First 2 min off it , should have called it ghost crappers , , 😅😅😅 can't beat the original, actors ,
Murray is overrated, his ego is the size of a planet. Not answering repeated messages is just rude, even if you get a staff member or agent to do it., at least acknowledge it.
His appearance in Quantumania didn't help the film one iota. It was still pisspoor
*a part, not "apart", which means the opposite. 🙄
@@Philly-lq6zr*of, not off
I enjoyed this. But I wish you would've mentioned the late Michael Gross. He had been Art Director for National Lampoon Magazine and also designed the iconic Ghostbusters logo.
Ya, the whole team at lampoon were ahead of their time. Dude made the 2nd most recognizable logo in the world behind Coca-Cola.
I have never seen so much excitement for a film and it didn't disappoint.
this sounds incredible
What a great memory! Thanks for sharing!
Great video, deserves way more views that it currently has (163k as of writing)
I say keep it coming. It’s worth it even if there’s just one more “really really good one” ghostbusters for life!!
This video is a big bull of awesome!! How many hours of work went into producing this? Brilliant!
For a stoned script, it's pretty tight!
Amazing work Man! I seen a few Ghostbusters behind the scenes and documentaries and this ones had a lot of things the other ones didn't, and it was very entertaining! Saludos from Chihuahua!
The Popcast is dropping mad GB knowledge here.
Thank you!
Terrific work on this video. Very interesting!
This documentary is so interesting that I'm rewinding to parts i missed!
💯
"Listen! Smell somethin'?" 🤣
What is this from? The kitchen scene in the video game?

Smells like teen spirit? 😮
Fun fact: most of the og mythbusters team actually came from industrial light and magic
2016 wasn't even a sequel! It was absolutely garbage to the point that fans pretend it didn't even happen
2016 has great Comedians that is only reason I like it
@@bridgetclement2968 I really hated the group, there were moments where individually they were funny, but they clashed horribly every time they were together and I couldn't understand why they thought being so overtly sexist to their secretary made sense. While the original movies might have sexism in them, it never portrayed it as being an okay way to behave, which I felt the 2016 movie very much did. It just reinforced the often claimed idea that feminism is about attacking men, rather than treating everyone with respect.
FanTASTIC work.
Ghostbusters has huge potential!
I would love to see other GhostBuster movies made.
When GB 2016 came out, I wrote a script on how to fix it. Maybe I will share that story later. Other co-workers loved it, but said they didn't like GB 2016 movie enough to save it.
For a new GB movie plot:
The dates of the Gozer temple are very important.
Hence crossing the beams meant one would overpower the other and cause the weaker beam to explode gat thre speed of light as it did in Tunguska 1908 (still a misunderstood event)
Using the magnetic north the team set up the weaker beam aligned to the magnetic north to create an Aurora Borealis effect of which the stronger transmitter aimed at the magnetic north of the Aurora Borealis, this created an around the globe charged firing weapon into the Tunguska Gozer portal.
Lindsey Buckingham didn’t want to be a “soundtrack guy”? Like Huey, he then went on to provide tracks for the “Back to the Future” soundtrack.
This brought me back to when I was 5-6 years old. The ghostbusters theme was everywhere and everyone including me was excited to see it.
I still love the original Ghostbusters.
What a great video. I enjoyed listening and reminiscing while I crochet
The first one is a perfect movie. Hard to follow that up. It isn't the first one sure but I enjoyed it as well.
Buckle up Buckaroos!
🥰
I want to see the original smasher movie now
Good and fair explanation.
Hell yeah, this is going to be a great story if told by Popcast!! I'm excited
Appreciate you!
This is such a great and thorough documentary, great voice over work and editing! Thanks for sharing!❤️💯
Would love to see your pack. Please post a vid when you're done! 🙏
Leslie Jones wasn't attacked by racists and sexists. She couldn't handle the fact her movie was bad and made the claim people were attacking her for those reasons. Very similar to how Disney copes with bad criticism for their lousy Star Wars shows/films.
Definitely. Nowadays, anytime someone uses the "RaCiStS!" Or "SeXiStS!" Buzzwords, it is just code for:
"I didn't like the criticism that I received from fans so they are the problem, not me." Smh
Afterlife was solid. Need to watch the new one
Fantastic Doc! I hope we get at least one more live action movie. Kinda need to fix a few things from Frozen Empire.
The Miller-Meteor ad you showed was for a 1958 Cadillac - not a '59.
BUSTED!
Wow. This is great. I never knew “I want a new drug” was being used as background music on set and then sent to Ray Parker on tape. I mean it just doesn’t sound as underhanded that way. Not Parker’s fault really.
Both artists "borrowed heavily" from Pop Muzik by Z [1983]
Where is that other version of Ghostbusters 2 cuz the 4k version didn't have much for deleted scenes
I went to see Ghostbusters the night it released. I went 7 more times the following week. I’m 53 now and have never seen any other film more than twice. The SPFX floored me. And remains in my top 5 films ever.
head over heals tears for fears uses a scene from the library
I am 56. Ghostbusters is my second favorite movie franchise. My first favorite movie franchise is anything from the Star Wars franchise.
My favorite was Egon holding a straight face while signaling to Pete the amounts. Just the way they read each ither to know how to even begin that. They knew each other so well to pull some flim-flam. And the fact that they were so hastily assembled (ad hoc) that they never discussed the invoice prior.
Can't wait for more Ghostbusters!!! :)
Hang on. You mean to tell me that making a box office flop in the 80s would get you fired? If only they's adopt that same philosophy today.
Yes, at least one more for sure! Trilogy with the new cast would be nice as long as it's done right 👻
Here we goooooooo
The comic book series is amazing
Great video!!! Instant subscribe.
I got maurice lamarche aka Egon Spangler from the real ghostbusters signature for the real ghostbusters dvd I have. It was done at comic con of this year.
Awesome!!! Comic con never comes to NOLA :(
Maybe Frozen Empire will find a bigger audience on streaming and video.
$200 million Worldwide, it seems as though it's had a pretty big audience

personally i would have liked and respected the girl version much more if they would have made them like a franchise of the OG ghost busters. not trying to replace them with girls. i hate it when they do that. they take something that is established and try to remake it with gender or race swap and its insulting to everyone. they recently rebooted Matlock replacing him as a her... it would have been fine if they would have made the main character his daughter or grand daughter. but no they have to insult everyone and replace him with her...
the newest ghost busters replace a main charter with a girl. and its great ! i love it. it makes since. and there not replacing the exact character with a gender swap version.
i wish the makers or these tv shows and movies would see that. when they made Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and made a black Spider man in a alternate unaverse its great, it makes since. they didnt try to race swap the OG spiderman.
I got a line for the next movie...( here goes)..."Do Not Open until Doomsday... If you understand that line you'll know were I'm going with it... would be great 👍 just a suggestion...
In the cartoon Egon had blonde hair...
How the heck did Coca-Cola end up making movies at one point? I thought they just made drinks.
I was a 4 yr old when it came out. I Loved it hahaha. Bill Murray was one of my fav comedic actors back then cus i grew up on the old SNL stuff with Murray and Murphey.
But also i Loved this movie cus it was silly and spooky.
My earliest memory of Ghostbusters is probably the same as anyone born around when I was (1981)
Sheer pants-shidding terror at the librarian ghost like 10 minutes in. Stuff made for kids in the 80s often throws a little trauma in there. As a treat.
Great work! Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time
My mom bought me the VHS 1987.
You skipped passed the ghostbusters comics and the extreme ghostbusters
Any Murray fan that has not seen "the Razor's Edge" is doing themselves a disservice.
