I’ve had both male & female Yorkies. Right now I have a 9 yr old female and in 2 weeks will be getting a baby boy. I’ve waited over a year for the breeder to have puppies. Thank you for explaining so firmly that good breeders won’t let their puppies go without researching their new homes, and that they need to be at least 12 weeks old. I adore everything about this breed, even the naughty parts! I think they are fascinating! Keep enjoying your babies, they add so much to our lives. Melissa

I have a Sleepy Pod also. It was the only one that passed a crash test. I love it, even though it's pricy. I agree on the music. It tends to drown you out, making it hard to hear you.

This is all really helpful information. We lost our baby girl mini shnauzer in early Dec to cancer and have made the decision to share our love with a new precious baby, a yorkie. She will be joining us in a few weeks, once she is old enough. I am loving this channel and your information has been so helpful. Did you by chance ever try a soft sling in addition or in place of the purse-style carrier?
Yes I do have a sling carrier. I use it if the dogs need some comfort etc, or if I want them with me.....but where I can keep track of them (like when we are setting up our RV at a new park)

My teacup just turned a yr last month and let’s just say it’s been a roller coaster ride lol (I’m used to big dogs and we both are stubborn🤦♀️). I didn’t start her on daily grooming as I thought I was hurting her so now it’s a huge fight to brush/comb her, but fingers crossed we’ll get there soon now that I know how I brush her isn’t actually hurting her lol I did want to ask 1) do you have an alternative fav to the harness as it’s no longer available and 2) any suggestions on getting her used to the doggy pod you suggested at her age or even another alternative?

I was looking at the belt buddy harnesses on Amazon what’s size to get because I’m supposed to be bringing home a female Yorkie in March I’m trying to have that so when she’s big enough off to go out for walks.
You'd have to measure to find the right size.

Hey Megan…Mom of Samson and Delilah. My Sammy is 15+ and I got the terrible news from the Vet today. A large hernia showed up about a year ago on the right side of his behind. It has grown to beyond golf ball size and is now blocking pushing his intestines to the right causing an obstruction to his going potty #2. This is the hardest one I’ve ever had to endure. He has been the smartest dog I’ve ever owned. I’m heartbroken although I know this is part of responsible dog ownership. Decided to hold off for the weekend to spend time and love. Selfishly I wish he would make his own decision on his time to go to sleep so I don’t have to but either way, I have to let go and do what’s best for him. The hardest part of owning a Yorkie and any fur babe is knowing this time will eventually come. 🐾💔🐾

I’m not really sure if you’re asking a question or making a statement? Yorkshire terrier’s have hair not first so they actually need to wear clothes for their safety and health. It would be like the equivalent of you going out naked in the cold… It’s doubtful that you could do that comfortably. So in order to be a good and humane owner, one would dress through Yorkshire terrier’s in clothes in colder climates.

what size dog carrier is good for a Yorkie? is a 15" length, 7"depth and 10" Height a good size? Should it be smaller or bigger? What are the dimensions of the Kwigy-Bo carrier you have for your Yorkies?
You would want to measure according to your yorkie to figure that out. I always do the larger sized carrier because they like the room
Thanks. I will get a standard size for small dogs prior to pickup; I can use an extra cushion/liner to take up the extra space as needed. When the pup is older I can measure her and get a every day carrier to use according to her size.

Dog insurance should always be part of any budget, the actual medical problems would be far, far more expensive than just getting the insurance:)

You can get Trupanion with a 1000 dollar deductible and it will be much cheaper (and great for true emergencies:)
