      "They" the ancients don't say that. Only modern people say it. There is no mention of her looks anywhere in history from the time she lived. It's 19th people that were amazed at the beauty of the statue and that got exaggerated by the media, to this day. And since we can't see into the past to get a view of many Egyptian girls to see what they looked like, it's impossible to say Nefertiti was more beautiful than the rest.

    She is absolutely stunning. About 10 years ago at a discounted retail store, I noticed a white ceramic discarded bust that I knew immediately was that of Nefertiti. I took it home and painted it based on the real one in Berlin. I attached an Egyptian necklace I had and not to toot my own horn here, it looks stunning to this day. Seeing what she would have looked like in real life is breathtaking. ❤

    I love how you really research your subject. My Grandfather wore many hats, he was a geologist, paleontologist, archeologist, genealogist, architect and held two other engineering degrees. He loved to study everything but his passion was researching the past, even when he was older and couldn’t travel he read all the papers and would explain what he was reading to me. We would have loved your videos. He used to say that the stylizations of the times was sometimes frustrating because they did not depict the true person as they were, but as a representation of style fads of the time. Thank you for having this channel.

      Fake A$$ reconstruction of a Beautiful Black Egyptian Queen, and the low esteem non Black folks are eating this FAKE $hit up like its a bowl of chocolate ice cream with white whipped cream on top with a red cherry in the middle...There is also a supposedly image of King Tut that has him looking like a "CLUBBED FOOT" half bald mixed race Arab, and one of Ramses and even Dark skin Thutmosis III that have them looking like old wrinkled up yellow chicken skin looking Iranian/Iraqi drunks .. All the statues show these people with THICK lips, broad noses, WOOLLY braided hair wigs, Frescoes with dark skin (not tan) ha ha ha, but recreations has to be of the NON BLACK mind who desires to make Black people not look like themselves..😂😂😂

    On my first trip to egypt I assumed cleopatra was beautiful and several egyptologists told me she was not considered beautiful, but charasmatic and extremely clever. They all told me Nerfertiti was the epitomy of beauty for many egyptians. I was so excited when i saw art depicting her at the national museum because it was obvious she was absolutely stunning by any standard. Iknew my history from books but my visual references were mostly from movies. I learned my lesson.

      Cleopatra was both charismatic and beautiful. I think modern historians tend to dismiss beauty of any important woman, becaus emodern politics put importance on "mind" and internal value instead of physical look, as if it was shameful to woman be both beautiful and clever 😒😒 It's not only Cleopatra, also Kosem Sultan and I bet many others.

    • @bushbabybotha9943
      @bushbabybotha9943 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beauty depends on who the judge is, I cannot understand how some people think black people can be anywhere near attractive, I think that they are as ugly as sin, flat noses, fat lips, peppercorn hair, to me they are extremely unpleasant to even look at, yet some people, for some unfathomable reason, decide not only are they attractive, but there are whites who enter into relationships with them. So there isn’t a standard that is objective.

I see you got her ears right too which is what makes it the most real version of an ancient Egyptian too. I can allso see why people think she was Syrian or Persian - given the similarities with people from there - even today. But i also wanted to thank you for the well research history lessons while creating the best likeness you can based on all the information available. Keep up the great work! The construction of the bust is somewhat misunderstood.
      The smooth exterior shows her younger appearance and the inner core is her image in older age.
      As the bust deteriorates over centuries and possibly millennia, it will show her greater age by losing its exterior layers.
      The process ultimately will expose her elder image as facial lines, bumps and saggy features of age gradually appear from under the plaster exterior.

    I'd seen an archeology video describing how the bust was discovered in an artist's workshop with quite a number of similar, partly finished busts of her with exactly the same features. So, in addition to the penchant for more realistic portraits during Akhenaten's reign, the archeologist thought it likely that Nefertiti's appearance was at least very close to reality.

    I find Nefertiti to be such an interesting pharaoh and it sucks that we don’t know much about her life apart from her husband Akhenaten. I definitely think she is one of the most beautiful pharaohs in Egyptian history. I think how she is portrayed in the Berlin Bust is what she looked like. I really like the first reconstruction of her and think that’s how she looked like when she was alive. I’m very curious to know what happened to her after she wasn’t present in the art anymore. Have you done a reconstruction of Akhenaten? If not, I would be really interested in seeing that and seeing how he looked like. I’m sure he was just as attractive as his wife.

      @@carlcoke3137 This video is about a virtual art recreation. It doesn't claim to recreate particular racial characteristics, whether with darker or lighter skin. One theory by the artist was that Nefertiti may have been a mix of ETHNICITIES. There is no racial stereotyping in simply hoping to approximate how Nefertiti looked by comparing her most famous statue with other statues and painted representations of her. I heard no comments about racial racial superiority or inferiority based on how Egyptians looked. As a matter of fact, humanistic thinking people believe that there are no uniquely different races, as the United Nations has said. We all share predominantly the same DNA. Could you quit complaining to reflect that Nefertiti may have had to change her name to avoid stereotyping of her female sex? How about reflecting on that form of discrimination.

When you show the living queen she was not only beautiful but with her facial features reconstructed you can clearly see the authenticity of the bust. Definitely a woman born in the indigenous population of the Egyptian region. No actress can accurately portray Queen nefertiti unless they look just like your reconstruction of the bust. I am so affected by your images that I think I will dream about them. Well done. I am going to watch this again.
    I would like to comment on your observation that the busts of Nefertiti and Akhenaten appearing standardised and so very similar but maybe it is just possible that they were very closely related. Shockingly the Pharaohs even married their siblings and if I remember correctly Ramesses II even married his own daughter/s. Being from the same family in all likelihood would mean that their facial features would be very similar.

    I really appreciate this new trend and you do an excellent job. I especially like all the history you present with the art. It gives a more complete picture and makes your subjects come to life.
    As far as the history of the Berlin bust is concerned, I had never heard the story of the German prince. My understanding is the archeologist was being threatened with his funding being cut if he didn't find anything. During an on site inspection, the "find of the century" was dug up and presented to the backer which insured future funding.
    Such a timely "find" was the main reason rumors of it being fake started almost immediately. The fact the bust was almost perfect and showed an attractive woman added to the theory it was a fake to maximize future funding. Considering how the press took liberties to liven up a story even then (look what happened to Carter), it is unlikely the truth can be established now so many years later.

    A couple things I forgot to mention in my first comment.
    Most facial reconstructions that I've seen of women (and to some extent of men, but not so much) not only modernize the figure but make them look better (more lifelike) than the marble or bronze we have of them. But so far, in Nefertiti's case, none, in my opinion, have quite succeeded in improving on her one eyed bust. Those cheap little statuettes of her you sometimes see in museums where her left eye has been restored and also her ears repaired do seem to reveal her best.
    Regardless of DNA, you see people all over the world who look like people from far distant places. For example, I've been living in a small city in Mexico for some time. In a cafe that I frequented there was a young waiter who resembled Ahknaten. Even Mexicans noticed it. He had the same elongated face, He was around 20 years old. When I lived in Thailand, I noticed that many men had features very similar to Tutankhamen (assuming Tut looked like his gold burial coffin mask.
    Because of the Pandemic, I've had a lot of time to spend doing things I never did before such as watching Video's on TH-cam. Since I've had a lifelong interest in Greco Roman Art I've watched quite a number of video's on that subject. Recently, a collection of Marbles has become available called the Torlioni Marbles. A very impressive private collection that hasn't been seen for nearly a century. Quite a few Roman Empresses and women. But one of them of a young girl who looks to be 18 years of age, more or less, was really lifelike, the rest were, I'm sure, resembling but none were stunningly lifelike. The 18 year old girl was stunning.
    What impresses me about the Egyptians is that they worked in granite and several other very hard stones , a millennium before the Romans and yet were turning out very lifelike portraits of both men and women. There's one of a man who looks quite a bit like Omar Sharif. And even the granite busts of Hatshepsut seem to catch a mischievous, flirty look in her eyes.
    Several comments have noted that Ahknaten bears a resemblance to his wife Nefertiti. That could be because they are half brother, half sister or even brother and sister. Also they might be cousins. But there is another factor to consider. I believe a few years ago, maybe 20, I remember reading some study that found married couples who were together for a long time tend to resemble each other more and more over time.. This was a modern study and had nothing to do with Egyptians. Ahknaten and Nefertiti seem to have had happy marriage so
    that might be a factor, too.
    Again, congratulations on your very fine work.

    • @awuma
      @awuma 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      "... they worked in granite and several other very hard stones , a millennium before the Romans ...". Actually, two millenia or more! Many of the statues from the Old and Middle Kingdoms are astonishingly good, e.g. those of Khafre and Senusret III, in very hard stone. Apart from the Amarna period, I find the New Kingdom statues to be bland and generic in comparison with the older ones, and were easily recycled from king to king (Ramses II and III especially being appropriators of their predecessors' monuments). We forget that Old Kingdom Egypt was more ancient to the Romans than the Romans are to us.
