"To 100% every GBA Video cartridge, I need to completely watch every show and movie released on the platform, even the ones they re-released for the movie double packs."
1:44:02 Allow me to clarify your confusion here: That's just the result of missing context. In the previous episode, Ash and the gang are kind of roped into starring in this director's movie, and that's what they were watching in EP070. The Team Rocket plotline was simply happening at the same time that they were watching whatever they filmed, and therefore Meowth's backstory is 100% canon to the series.
Remember kids, if you ever get bored of playing Mario, you can pull out Shrek and watch it on the same device. Edit: Dang. I didn't expect this comment to blow up like it did. Thanks guys.
33:16 Fun fact: Weezer's "My Best Friend" (from their 5th album Make Believe), was originally planned to be the song in the montage (I'm sure other songs were considered, but this was one of them); the story goes that the Shrek producers approached Rivers Cuomo (Weezer's frontman) and asked for a song, Rivers pulled out My Best Friend, but it was denied because it "sounded too much like it was made for Shrek".

Courage The Cowardly Dog is such a dang good show. I recommend binging the entire series or possibly even doing a video on it someday. Each episode has something unique, and some of them get so disturbing that it’s shocking that it got passed the censorship. One of the best cartoons ever made in my opinion.
If you wanna watch the rest of Sonic X, i highly recommend the Japanese version, the music is much more in tone with fhe scenes than the English version and the third season also got butchered in the English version. Its a good anime all around in the Japanese sub
@@buchiklop110 disagree, Eggman's theme, the shining road, the song when Sonic breaks into Eggman's base, Mira, they're all bangers and fit the atmosphere more than the English version only trying to keep the kids attention
I'd say the same for the old run of Dragon Ball shows, which were dubbed during the same era of overly-Americanized anime localizations as Sonic X. Even though the dubs are visually uncut and have Japanese music options these days, the ADR scripts changed a lot from the original dialogue (and not in the "make the translation sound good when spoken aloud" way but the "you just made all that up" way). Though at least Dragon Ball's dubs have gotten pretty good since 2010, so DBZ Kai (the filler-reduced recut of DBZ), the modern movies, Super, and Daima are all absolutely worth watching dubbed. OG DB's dub isn't great, but it admittedly is the best of the old dubs, so you might get away with watching it dubbed. IMO it rewrites just enough for me to recommend the Japanese version over it. Z and GT though... Yeah. Watch those subbed.
I'll wait for some crazy fan to go all-in with redoing the English dub with AI to fit the original script, like that proof-of-concept that fixed a certain infamous scene in Dragon Maid. Because reading dialogue that was supposed to be heard goes against the original creator intent.
1:57:03 No, Mr. Washer's motivation for destroying the Hot Dog factory was because kids kept spitting Chili Dog Sauce on his counter top. If that sounds insane, welcome to the "Kids.Next.Door.", because that's the level of insanity you get from these villains.
Claims to have watched tons of cartoons growing up, but admits to never watching any of these shows besides Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Jimmy Neutron.
@ I hope they do. The last time I heard someone talk about it they said something on the lines of they wouldn’t because no one would buy merch for it because no one would know the series. (I don’t know what that guy is on because every series starts off unknown.)
1:10:28 The turnip farmer isn't actually Numbah 3's grandpa, as Numbah 1 says a few times in the episode, she calls him grandpa because kids of East Asian cultures (Numbah 3 is Japanese) are usually taught to address thier elders (even people who aren't blood relatives) as grandpa or gandma.
1:28:08 That didn't come from the GBA version, Funimation genuinely thought people wouldn't be interested so they skipped the initial boring space adventure stuff and skipped to the Sigma Force. Those original episodes are classified as lost episodes and didn't come in until later.
The problem I have with some of these cartridges (especially with the CN ones) is that they picked random episodes instead of iconic ones. Also with certain ones is that they have episodes from different shows but not other like for the CN ones that don’t have episodes of the Powerpuff Girls despite that being their most popular show at the time. Also no episodes of fosters ether which is weird because that cartoon would have came out by that time. Also shows that no one req talks about anymore like Strawberry Shortcake. One more thing the way that the shows run by my memory space. So the movies run showy because it was a bigger space on the cartridge while with tv episodes they don’t take that much space so that is why some cartridges run showy while others run pretty well.
I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but that's literally how Funimation released gt in the us, they cut the first season and started with the second.
Fun fact: despite seeming like it had a longer run on the surface, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go! actually has exactly as many episodes as The Proud Family: it’s just that while the former series got four small seasons, the latter received two big ones. Also, SRMTHFG! is a Disney series like Proud Family is, though you’d never be able to tell based on its GBA Video cartridge’s label. Disney owned Power Rangers at the time this series was made (they were even on the same channel), which might explain the similar vibes.
Never knew Dragon Ball GT was on a GBA cartridge but tbh it looked a lot better than I thought it would. Still pixelated as hell but things are represented well even with the limitations
I would love to see a sequel to this, where you just sit back with a mini fridge filled with drinks and just watch all the old cartoons. not just these though, you need teen titans, justice league and batman the animated series in your life. also, maybe include cowboy bebop, outlaw star, ghost in the shell and etc ad infinitum.
As someone who still has two of those gba video carts, it brought a lot of nostalgia! I definitely have a couple Sponge bob episodes and a few Nickelodeon episodes from these cartridges! 1:58 While movies and tv shows were indeed compressed with a few having some choppy frames, these video cartridges weren't all created equally. The additional loading times could be because of things like video size or how dirty the cartridge connectors could be (condition could matter as well). However, I believe that it's more so that some of these "games" were just made as a commodity to see how many people would buy into this kind of content at the time the idea was put forth. Some of these tv shows and movies were given different treatment despite the other factors like the limitations the gba video players would have with hardware and cartridge space. I wouldn't be surprised if either of my two cartridges loaded differently or had slightly different quality or cut frames from another similar cartridge with the same content.
If you ever consider watching Sonic X,only watch the original Japanese version! For an uncut, uncensored, unaltered, unchanged and bonus great music experience.
Time for another episode of Nathaniel Bandy spending a lot of money on niche items for his gaming collection so he can make a video about it. Gotta spend money to make money!
As a kid I only had the first SpongeBob GBA Video and I can recite Bubblestand from memory now. Plankton! also happens to have the only SpongeBob joke my dad EVER laughed at: "Brace yourself SpongeBob... this is my lab!" 🐶 arf, arf "And THIS is my LABORATORY!!!"
I never experienced GBA video as a kid. But I know for a fact that I would have loved it. Watching your favourite shows heck even movies on a GBA of all things is incredible
I did remember buying Sonic X Volume 1 video cartridge brand new at a game shop back then. There was Sonic X Volume 2 GBA video promo paper in a box. Nobody knows if few copies were made or never made at all.
Great video as always, Bandy. Love your content. One small correction though: what you called episodic content throughout the video is actually serialized content. Episodic shows are shows in which each episode stands on its own. Each episode obviously fits into the larger narrative, but you don't necessarily have to watch the previous episodes to understand it. Shows like Yu-Gi-Oh & Dragon Ball, however, are serialized, meaning each episode fits into an arc that is told over many episodes or even an entire season.
1:08:36 Fun fact, this episode of Billy and Mandy is actually a homage to the Dune book series (the same one that has been getting movies from WB recently). The references were lost on me as a kid though.
A supernatural Al Roker (actually played by Al Roker) jump rope contest is not something I was expecting to witness today, but I'm just so grateful to have had this experience.
1:46:00 Best guess here, judging from how the video looks, it looks like they cropped the video on the credits. My best guess is that on the actual show the credits are on the right side of the screen and on the left side it likely shows clips from the show. I would guess that they cropped the left side and only kept the credits (centering them) as it would likely save space on the cartridge. White text on a black background is likely to take up less space than also having those clips in there as well. Also, when making that edit they didn't match they either exported it the credits with the same dimensions as the crop or they just messed up matching the blacks between the credits and the sides of the frame.
Yo Bandy. If you’re planning on seeing Sonic X, I recommend watching the Japanese sub version The 4kids heavily censors or cuts out a bunch of stuff in the show, while the sub leaves everything in

Super robot monkey team hyperforce go! Was basically a love letter to retro anime with the extra long name. It's based on gundem, which power rangers/ super senti was inspired by. Also, Disney did it dirty because they have the 2000s quality of the show on Plus, yet you can find full HD episodes on TH-cam. It was once lost media, apparently. But thanks to XD Asia, that was reairing it. I guess the cartoon is only for certain tastes when it comes to shows. Also, it was on jetix
1. likely the custom credits screen on the spongebob pack was done since the compressed credits seen in the show wouldve been too difficult to read... 2. part of me thinks the laggy previews are more of a lazy programming fault anyways, good video! very entertainning!
I'm not sure how old this guy is, but how could you have not watched so many of these shows... If you were growing up in that time, most of these were massive hits. Either he's from a generation just before or he only watched spongebob & fairly odd parents on repeat everyday. It's not bad or anything just an observation.
Doesn't seem to have watched the Disney channels often since he was unfamiliar with almost all of the shows. The monkey show was advertised all the time on Jetix so I have to assume he just didn't watch Jetix
I wish you showed us some clips of the audio sometimes! I would have loved to hear some of that music in shrek or even the Jimmy Neutron song, you can get away with 5 or so seconds before anything serious happens! Even just hearing them talk would be interesting.

The spots C1, R1, R2, and R3 all look like they're made of gold or brass on the Volume 2 cart while the Volume 3 cart has a less conductive material in those same spots (silver, aluminum, or steel). This might be why certain ones don't load the preview as fast. Definitely a cost cutting measure if you ask me.

@NonbinaryAndAfraidI think the issue is that they had that single use 3D memory which aren’t made anymore and can’t be rewritten. If you were to make one today, it would need to use an alternate scheme. I think people can encode GBA Video ROMs to be played on EverDrives though.
Courage The Cowardly Dog is such a dang good show. I recommend binging the entire series or possibly even doing a video on it someday. Each episode has something unique, and some of them get so disturbing that it’s shocking that it got passed the censorship. One of the best cartoons ever made in my opinion.
The show was more than good. It was legendary.
I agree I binged it last year and holy cow I loved it
In an alternate universe Bandy would’ve been a great cartoon reviewer between this and his ranking every SpongeBob video
This was honestly the coolest thing to me as a kid, I would watch them all the time whenever I take a trip on a flight
Special thanks to Disney for being a big stinky and having this video delayed/taken down
The only acceptable way to watch this video is in 144p
The closest thing we’ll get a video of Nathaniel Bandy ranking every DreamWorks Movie.
If you wanna watch the rest of Sonic X, i highly recommend the Japanese version, the music is much more in tone with fhe scenes than the English version and the third season also got butchered in the English version. Its a good anime all around in the Japanese sub
Thanks, to 4kids thinking everything should be American
@@ChuckE.CheesesIllinois Agree to disagree. The Japanese OST, outside of the recycled SA2 songs, is just as terrible as the English soundtrack.
53:23 Well that’s gone forever now…. F for the lost cartridge
1:57:03 No, Mr. Washer's motivation for destroying the Hot Dog factory was because kids kept spitting Chili Dog Sauce on his counter top. No, Hot Dog factory, means no Chili Dogs, no Chili dogs, means no spitting, and no spitting, means no dirty counter top.
Nathaniel Bandy just gave Codename: Kids Next Door more credit than Cartoon Network has in years.
Let me keep inhaling copium and hope Cartoon Network greenlights GKND one day... Just one day...
I always thought Numbuh 3 was just confused and thought the farmer was her grandpa.
32:28 actually yes, i prefer most sequels over the original. the creazy part is that there are way better sequels out there than Shrek 2.
1:28:08 That didn't come from the GBA version, Funimation genuinely thought people wouldn't be interested so they skipped the initial boring space adventure stuff and skipped to the Sigma Force. Those original episodes are classified as lost episodes and didn't come in until later.
It’s amazing that these came out in 2004 so that we were able to get shark tale and Shrek 2 on the same cartridge
Am I the only one who heard him say Donkey Kong at around 27:24.
I heard it too. I was searching the comments to see if anyone else noticed
@@Matthew.PixelFusion9527yes, i did the exact same thing too
Fun fact: despite seeming like it had a longer run on the surface, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go! actually has exactly as many episodes as The Proud Family: it’s just that while the former series got four small seasons, the latter received two big ones.
Also, SRMTHFG! is a Disney series like Proud Family is, though you’d never be able to tell based on its GBA Video cartridge’s label. Disney owned Power Rangers at the time this series was made (they were even on the same channel), which might explain the similar vibes.
Those shows were goated 🥰
Funny the area 99 thing isn't a reference to sonic advance 3 cause at the time the game never came out at the time
Alternative title:
Nathaniel reviews a bunch of random shows.
And it’s the best video he ever did.
Plankton! also happens to have the only SpongeBob joke my dad EVER laughed at:
"Brace yourself SpongeBob... this is my lab!"
🐶 arf, arf
"And THIS is my LABORATORY!!!"
Watching at 144p for the authentic GBA video experience
1:20:26 My Shadow & Me fanbase is weeping right now
I never experienced GBA video as a kid.
I didn’t have cable when I was really young. So this was the only way I could watch SpongeBob and Kim Possible
1:08:36 Fun fact, this episode of Billy and Mandy is actually a homage to the Dune book series (the same one that has been getting movies from WB recently). The references were lost on me as a kid though.
From the last year i have learned you are really dedicated to whatever random thoughts you have...
A supernatural Al Roker (actually played by Al Roker) jump rope contest is not something I was expecting to witness today, but I'm just so grateful to have had this experience.
This is where I would quote my favorite Fairly Oddparents line... IF I HAD ONE!!
I heard once that Kirby Right Back at Ya was planned for GBA video but got cancelled
F
Disney, just shut up with your lawyers. At least on the series that are long discontinued
54:35 In The DIC Show, She Lives In Strawberryland, Nathan.
Yo Bandy. If you’re planning on seeing Sonic X, I recommend watching the Japanese sub version
The 4kids heavily censors or cuts out a bunch of stuff in the show, while the sub leaves everything in
2:26:10 Does anybody know that one YT video where somebody uploaded the entirety of this episode off a GameBoy and the camera quality was like the lowest quality possible?
The title was just “brobot”
When I was younger, I had a dream about a variation called ds video. They had an icarly cartage as well. The closet I can get to that was gba video on the ds, and taped at phone to my ds xl.
Truly a lit experience
Super Robot Monkey Team was actually massive in India, I remember watching this show a lot when I was younger.
Yea, that's why you can find the show in full HD on TH-cam
The name of the old man from Courage the Cowardly Dog is pronounced "you-stis", stis being pronounced the same way as "it"
Nathan doing his best Schaffrillas impression
I'm glad you explained the plot of Shrek, I've never seen it and have never heard anybody talk about it before.
Lmao
2:12:52 I'M SORRY BUT WAS THAT A SMELL-O-VISION CUE???
THE GBA VIDEO VERSIONS HAD SMELL-O-VISION CUES???
God, remeber smell-o-vision??
Talk about a blast from the past!
Guys, it was a long wait, but it finally happened....Nathaniel talked about All Grown Up!
Idea for a video: Ranking Every Fairly Oddparents episode, Movie, and Spinoff
Wait til he gets to Season 9 onwards... and Fairly Odder 😭
I think LS Mark did that
@@richardperaza5083 But we wanna watch Nathaniel's version 🙏
@@richardperaza5083ls mark only did the main show, im talking about something similar to the Ranking every Spongebob episode, movie, & spinoff video he did a few years back
For 2 hours worth of content, this feels like the video, if unedited...woulda been--
2:42 - OH MY GOD IS THAT A MICRO?!?
It's average sized
@BIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDS Yeah yeah "It's average sized" for the meme, but it's actually called the Game Boy Micro
Can't believe Nathaniel is 30 now.
What I got from this is that Courage the Cowardly Dog episodes could serve as concepts for horror movies
2. part of me thinks the laggy previews are more of a lazy programming fault
anyways, good video! very entertainning!
Disney: GET OUT!!!!
The comment Nate makes about the Courage episode being cool. The plot is basically the same as “What Lies Beneath” with Harrison Ford. Great movie 😂
I'm not sure how old this guy is, but how could you have not watched so many of these shows...
If you were growing up in that time, most of these were massive hits. Either he's from a generation just before or he only watched spongebob & fairly odd parents on repeat everyday. It's not bad or anything just an observation.
He's about 31 according to Google, so him not knowing these cartoons are no excuse as well
He’s 31
Doesn't seem to have watched the Disney channels often since he was unfamiliar with almost all of the shows. The monkey show was advertised all the time on Jetix so I have to assume he just didn't watch Jetix
I wish you showed us some clips of the audio sometimes! I would have loved to hear some of that music in shrek or even the Jimmy Neutron song, you can get away with 5 or so seconds before anything serious happens! Even just hearing them talk would be interesting.
22:48 It is a horror movie. It was called Pet Semetery.
The best way to watch Shrek 2
agreed
I love how this video was just a bunch of reviews from Nathaniel's perspective
it's great
you should rank all DreamWorks movies or all Pixar movies or an other studios movies.
Bro thanks for the video that was just what i needed because i watched many dark videos for the last few hours and i was searching for a more chill video thank you
2:27 I noticed something that might affect load times on the boards.
I almost forgot this was a video about gba video. This really just felt like a review of random shows, and I’m all here for it
Something affiliated with Martin Scorsese was accessible on the Game Boy. Let that sink in for a moment.
1:34:12 - uM, aCtUaLlY…
(it’s the other way around)
I want to port some of my favourite movies to GBA Video. You may question that idea, but it can be done!
