I found one today at a thrift shop. It is porcelain with silver inlay. It says in German, "So it was, so it is, so may it be" It has the man's name on it too.
Congrats on your video, beautyful collection, great range of variety as there are men in old English society rich and humble, I'm from Chile and I own an old English shaving scuttle, Joy the item and good shave too.
Fascinating thanks .l aways wondered why the " old spice "mugs commands far more money than my lovely China scuttles . But having recently brought one l found they are great to use in a small bathroom. Cant wait to visit your museum.
I grew a beard quite some time ago..started growing it when I was 30, just to see how I would look with a full beard. I started getting into shaving ASMR vids with classic straight razors around 4 years after that...and it revived an old bucket list memory of mine from my childhood: I wanted to have a hot towel shave at least once in my life with a straight razor. This was brought on by a youth growing up with vintage movies and cartoons I saw with my family showing that kind of shave and a love of vintage items that connected me with family members I never got the chance to meet because they passed away. Just before Covid lock downs began in early 2020 I finally found a place to do it...places that do hot towel straight razor shaves are rare in my neck of the woods in the US...I've only found 3 and only two of them use actual shaving cream, the third uses gel which while a close shave...was not to my liking as I've tried all 3 since that first shave in 2020, the other two do use cream but it's that pre-heated machine cream instead of a shaving soap cake or the like. I actually enjoyed my first one so much I bought my own shavette straight razor and a starter set that came with a cup, a shaving soap cake, and a badger brush. I've used it to keep things tidy every since...I'm gonna be treating myself this year around my birthday and getting a shave, I'm gonna go with the "Doc Holiday" look of mustache and goatee and shaving off the rest of my beard.
What a delight to hear such kind words good sir, in truth you have brought a hint of a tear to the Captain's tad jaded eye.... If you ever are traveling to England then please do pop in - Huzzah!
Loved the video. I have been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and started shaving with a safety razor. I am looking to purchase a mug and brush for everyday use (I will need to change out the knot in the brush before using) and came across your video just trying to learn about mugs. You have an awesome collection and thank you for sharing it here with us.
Never could have imagined seeing a collection of this type. Those are so well placed and organized.

What is the name of the tune? I love it. Thank you.
My skittle just has a divider in the middle. That’s it no extra bowl.
What was used before 1867?
A mug shave is superior to a can shave anyday.
🤩
Is it just me or does anyone else have a hard time using Taylor of old bond streets shaving scuttle? Jist seems too small
Is it ashamed to use a pink vintage shaving scuttle for a man?
Ofcourse not! Shows u r a man, comfortable with whom and what he is!
