Having seen Asia 2 days ago in Edinburgh I do not believe they are in it purely for the money. They gave every appearance of having a great time on stage. Wetton's voice is as strong as ever, whilst no keytar on show Downs was solid as a rock and as for Howe, he played with great freedom and panache, even mimicing Hendrix playing wih his teeth at one point. Palmer was simply wonderful, from the word go he played without compromise and his solo was the best I have ever seen. No sell out!
Man, concerts like these make me wish I lived in Japan, however, if that were the case then I'd miss the upcoming Asia concert as well as various other great concerts that only tour in the U.S and Europe... whatever, this is amazing how great all the members sound.
Hmmmm, I don't know why people keep dissing this. I mean they sounds MUCH better than alot of modern bands. I mean, Christ, this sounds almost like the CD. Performs MUCH better than MOST modern bands for that matter. Especially for their age. Saw them live, Was absolutely incredible.
There's nobody there called Chris? Are you thinking of Chris Squire from Yes? The bass player here is John Wetton, Steve Howe on Guitar, Carl Palmer, Drums and Geoff Downes on Keyboards. :-)
I won't dignify with a response to the Asia-haters...Although I was confused as to why everyone had started debating the line-up;etc.This version isn't the failed 1983 Tokyo Concert w G.Lake.This is recent Original Asia. RenegadeRegan™
You should check out the song "Close to the Edge" by Yes. That's the band Steve Howe was in before he joined Asia as the guitarist. It blows this song out of the water!
sounds like steve enjoys playing with these guys these days more than with yes. i don't think there's many yes clips from this time period where is playing is this assertive. the ascending runs are pretty painful though, as is the keytard solo.
@nickellmw Just because a particular type of music, or particular song is something a lot of people would get it, does not mean it sucks. And sure they might have enjoyed it more of not for personality conflicts, but guess what personality conflicts happen. > Neal Schon-Steve Perry, David Gilmour-Roger Waters, Fish-the other guys in Marillion ... doesn't mean they didn't enjoy that first tour. Don't think Mike Stone (album producer) saw $ signs, but probably John Kalodner did. And why not ..
@codeking32 Oh gonna get personal huh? I uhh do know my history, and I'm not gonna get all upset because you've been STUCK in the '70s, since the '70s - The history is NONE OF THEIR BANDS, PRIOR or AFTER, had ONE ALBUM AS SUCCESSFUL as that 1ST ALBUM, ASIA /ASIA. #1 FOR 9 WEEKS. THE BIGGEST SELLING ALBUM OF THE YEAR 1982. WETTON wrote that album. No one can take that away from him, not even hate-filled folks like you. And Greg (from the '70s) Lake showed a worldwide audience he couldn't do it.
Who is uglier? Greg Hawkes or Steve Howe? They are both amazing and I am not trying to be snotty. Howe looks stiff as a board with his little kicks and dips. I met them several times at meet and greets and Carl Palmer was a super guy! The rest of the band were pretty quiet and Steve Howe is a germaphobe so that was a little awkward when I put my hand out but definitely great shows and I am glad they are all still ALIVE! Ill be at the Keswick Friday, if you are in the area, it is worth it!
RISE AND SHINE SAMMY! HEY TUESDAY, PIG IN A POKE Sammy, I get all tingly when you take control like that. Clowns or midgets? Yesterday was Tuesday, right? But today is Tuesday, too! Right, you're a mind reader. Cut it out Sam. Sam! You think you're being funny but you're being really, really childish. Sam Winchester wears make-up. Sam Winchester cries his way through sex. Sam Winchesters keeps a ruler by the bed and every morning when he wakes up- okay, enough! Forget about deja vu! I'm asking you if it feels like we're living yesterday all over again? Of course, I peed myself. Man gets hit by a car, you think he had full control of his bladder? Come on! Uh... let's just go now. Right now. Business hours, nice and crowded. Do these tacos taste funny to you? Trust me, you'll thank me when it's Wednesday! NO BREAKFAST! Sam Winchester cries his way through sex. dean randomly dies in the shower Dean nodding his head enthusiastically ;) This is my alarm every morning when I wake, I think of Sammy and his many tuesdays Thumbs up if you love supernatural and Tuesday's
Funny as it seems I could not stand this group / line up of some of my favorite musicians ??? .. Most of it comes form my relation of music to time,. during this time I was in a dire struggle of which I put myself in ( Which had created some of whom i consider ' Some of the Best Young Adults on the planet.....Eleise Ann, Troy Thomas & William Conrad ) and in the time of strife , along with the lackluster performance of the group i never really did get ASIA
This concert's screwed-up performance spelled the end of the band Asia. Some '70s people/ELP fans are in perpetual denial or just have no scope of how things went down, for bands, in history ... don't realize how repulsed Asia fans in the U.S. were by this stink-bomb of a concert. It was the body-blow from which the band didn't recover. While in the '70s certainly ELP, and Yes had some great moments, and I even liked the ELPowell album ... Lake failed to replace Wetton. Greg tried, here, though.
Love song Never forgett this Great song.. so Memory
This song never gets old. LOVE IT ♥👍🏿
So true
Timeless unforgetable bye from France
Having seen Asia 2 days ago in Edinburgh I do not believe they are in it purely for the money. They gave every appearance of having a great time on stage. Love it!! One of the BEST songs from the 80s!
I think sem bye bye from France
I love the sound of Carl Palmer's snare.
Its got some "snap" to it, doesn't it.
No kidding!
Wow! They still have it, I agree! Very talented lot of musicians.
these drums are stunningly good to my ears
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing!
great band, glad they use some of these songs in new sitcoms....shows the masses the greatness of the late 70's early 80's....;-)
I've known about this song since the 80's. But ever since watching that episode of Supernatural I could never listen to it the same way again.
Steve Howe..the mad scientist of guitar players...what amazing fingers he has......brilliant!!
Man, concerts like these make me wish I lived in Japan, however, if that were the case then I'd miss the upcoming Asia concert as well as various other great concerts that only tour in the U.S and Europe... whatever, this is amazing how great all the members sound.
I'm amazed that each of the members are far much sophisticated than they used to be in 1982.
as MTV said circa 1983...:"we'll take you to see ASIA...IN ASIA!"
loudaaaaahhhhh!!!
I agree!
love you so much - this is a nice one
Wow sure brings back memories. Thank you
Carl Palmer RULES!
Yes he does!
There were only 3 who were the greatest drummers in the history of rock. And Carl Palmer is the only one of the 3 who's still alive today.
Oh, man. Good!
cool music
Hmmmm, I don't know why people keep dissing this. I mean they sounds MUCH better than alot of modern bands. I mean, Christ, this sounds almost like the CD.
Performs MUCH better than MOST modern bands for that matter. Especially for their age. Saw them live, Was absolutely incredible.
GREAT.....
this cool version of this; thanx Prog
Love it!
Increibles!!! Qué tiempos!!!
@diggz2001 Sounds like it was a great show!
Steve Howe on marvelous guitar!
How can you describe his work properly?
He is a master of the craft.
A wizard. Even resembles one, here.
There's nobody there called Chris? Are you thinking of Chris Squire from Yes?
The bass player here is John Wetton, Steve Howe on Guitar, Carl Palmer, Drums and Geoff Downes on Keyboards. :-)
It wasn't the Budokan moment that John missed out in 1984 but this was a great gig!
I won't dignify with a response to the Asia-haters...Although I was confused as to why everyone had started debating the line-up;etc.This version isn't the failed 1983 Tokyo Concert w G.Lake.This is recent Original Asia. RenegadeRegan™
Greg Lake filled in temporarily as a favor to Palmer. He felt uneasy in the band and didn't like their type of music. BTW, I'm not an Asia hater.
You should check out the song "Close to the Edge" by Yes. That's the band Steve Howe was in before he joined Asia as the guitarist. It blows this song out of the water!
i discovered this sing the same way, but isnt it ALOT more than six times he re-lives that day??
Qué temón!
@llllukesssmyth Dont forget theyre getting older aswell.. i found it normal his voice isnt what it used to be.
sounds like steve enjoys playing with these guys these days more than with yes. i don't think there's many yes clips from this time period where is playing is this assertive. the ascending runs are pretty painful though, as is the keytard solo.
@trifermata absolutely agree!
exactly
Epic
Sid little on guitar 🎸
Wetton !
Damn, Chris makes it look easy

@vitogportugal Escucha The Clap
now that I think about it, why do they use "our music" for the new hit tv shows....cause music started sucking around 95..
or i just got old....i dont know...lol
Asia playing in Asia. Ironic
RISE AND SHINE SAMMY!

Supernatural brought me here
@mrbean827 Me too =D
John Wetton looks like John Goodman in this vid
Tell you what, Kurtzy, why don't you take a profile selfie and share it with the rest of us?
@Smithfieldis
ah cmon wake up
you go to work and to school every day
and guess what?
its for money....
@fun120989 John Goodman is WAY thinner.
Let's see YOU now, DuFart.

What in God's-green-hell are you talking about?
Steve Howe's playing is still great. Although I like the band and the song, the vocals are too weak.
This concert's screwed-up performance spelled the end of the band Asia. You're adorable!
@codeking32 Somebody needs to clean his ears !!
Steve Howe was probably the best part of Asia but overall they were a very good band, unfortunately he left a great band for this.
eric cartman's version is better ; )
Shit mix! Too bad, because I love this band and I loved this album!
