The door on our washer would not lock at all. We were figuring on buying a new washer until I saw this video. I bought the door lock and new plastic piece that engages into the door lock. I broke the plastic piece while slamming and lifting up on the door trying to get the door to lock. Both pieces shipped were just under $20. The repair was super easy after watching this video. Thank you so much for this video!
Only problem is that the hinges on these things SUCK! Replaced hinges on the washer and matching dryer 3 years ago and AGAIN you have to lift the door when closing or risk breaking the latch hardware.
Thank you! Local official Frigidaire person came and diagnosed the door closing part. HOWEVER it is no longer available from the OEM. Sorry, maybe a new washer. Amazon and your video to my rescue. After 10-15 minutes the washer is catching up on our dirty laundry. Very clear instructions!
Steve, I installed the part and the latch I ordered on Amazon. The only problem I had was when I pulled on the spring on the clamp it snapped because it was rusty. Damn. So I had to order one of those on Amazon, too. I've never worked on a washing machine before, but I gotter' done thanks to your great video. So glad you mentioned the release levers on the top two ports, and said there was none on the bottom one. You saved me a lot of money, and I am proud to say that I never cussed once on this project.
Just AWESOME!! There is no repair person to be had for miles from where I live, and with your clear, easy to understand video, I can totally do this myself. I've already pulled the machine apart and put it back together to see if it may have been a loose wire or connection, and it is not. Waiting for the part now, and looking forward to getting my machine working again. Thanks so much!!.
Thanks. I followed your instructions and saved a lot of money on the repair. You were clear and direct in your instructions. I fixed it in about 10 minutes! My wife was very impressed!
Thank you for the excellent video. I called a repair company and they suggested I purchase a new washer because they charge $199 just to look at it. Another video showed taking the top and front off the machine. So much easier your way.
Thank you! I had to replace my heating coil in my dryer last year. My new door latch came in today and I would've torn apart the whole machine if I didn't watch this video. You're a life saver.
Thanks so much for your helpful video. We followed it to repair our tenant's washing machine and it worked. We saved a lot of $ by not having to call an appliance repair person.
Thank you so much! $18 psrt from ebay and nest video instruction ever! Likely $250 service call avoided!! I always wonder how great youtube would have been in the 70's!!
You just saved me hundreds of dollars in labor and a exorbitant parts fee! I bought the assembly for $26 online, and installed it just as you suggested. Works beautifully now and thank you!!
Just fixed my mom’s washer using this info. Repair guy wanted to charge her $400+. I bought a $40 latch on Amazon fixed it in a few minutes. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you so much for this video! You made it so easy to follow. My washer was buzzing at the door and would not run. I ordered an OEM replacement part from Sears for around $80 after looking at some reviews that the cheaper ones did not consistently work well. The part arrived in just two days. It took less than ten minutes to install the replacement part. The hardest things for me were that I needed a drill to get the old screws in all the way, and the bellows was a bit tricky to get back in place. Thank you!
Thank you for the video information and thank you for using a descriptive title / part number that made yours the first video that came up in my search. I appreciate not having to search for forty minutes to watch a six minute video.
Thank you! Very articulate and concise instruction. I have to do all my own repair/replacement and these kinds of videos are what makes it so much easier to complete.
Wonderful instructions. I am not mechanically inclined. I was able to install the locking mechanism within 15 minutes. Happy that I saved a service fee for doing doing this job.
This was just the perfect thing. I found your instructions clear and easy, and I was able to save a lot of money. What a relief! Thank you so much for this video.
Thank you!! I made the mistake of just replacing the striker the first time. A piece of the striker was still stuck in the main part. So I still had trouble. Now I can fix it correctly and solve this pain in the butt problem! LOL Thank you for a great video!
Thank you, this was very helpful! The best part was I just had to re-plug the 3 plugs and it started working. Still going to get a new lock switch but now I can finish the wash that was in there and replace the switch on my timetable.
Great job showing how the entire install should work, especially the rubber gasket that others don't show very well how it is done. Thank you! Have a great weekend!
Hey There, I’m So Thankful You Had This Repair Video. We Were Able To Successfully Repair The Door Latch But Now A ‘E91’ Code Popped Up Before The Washer Completed The First Load. How Would I Be Able To Reset That Code Or Fix It?
Thank YOU!!! I have this exact washing machine. The spinning mechanism was failing and then I couldn't lock the door; I was getting an error message. I looked at the door lock (the part you replaced; the striker plate was intact). There was a piece of the plastic that had broken off. I ordered the part and fixed it myself exactly the way you describe! Awesome instructions.
This was quite helpful and I was able to fix my washer in 10 min. Thanks! Besides the money saved buying from an appliance repair website, over $70 as compared to the manufacturers price, the cost of a repairman would have been a lot for this grandma to afford. Thanks again !!!
So the first time we had problems with this washer, we unplugged the wiring harness to the motor to investigate and after plugging it back in, it then worked properly for a couple months. After researching the door latch issue when the problem reoccured, we replaced the door latch and once again the problem resolved itself for 6 weeks. Now same issues again. Put another new door latch in without any change. Put the original replacement back in and then tried unplugging and plugging in wire to motor and once again it is working. Do you know what the problem may be that is fixed short term by detaching the wire harness? It does not work to just unplug machine and replug. Thanks.
It's looking like this might be the problem with my moms washer. It's not spinning or draining. I did the diagnostic and I got a E41 code. I might have to grab a new motor and try it. This looks like an easy repair. Thanks. 👍
This is my exact washer and your steps were clear and very easy to follow. I replaced the door latch successfully, but now it makes a strange loud sound and it's coming from the door locking part. It didn't make this sound before so I don't think it's the motor or anything. Did I do something wrong or why is the door latch now making an extremely lous consistent noise throughout the wash? I hope you respond, Thank you!
My 2003 Electrolux Frigidaire Crown Series White Front-load Energy Star Washer model CRTF1240ASO will not agitate or spin, but still pumps & drains the water. Also, the Selector Timer knob moves quickly through all cycles of wash. What part do I need to replace or how to fix my problem? I checked the drive belt & that was good.
Hi I replaced it but same issue is occurring washer still does not lock door or start and now my door latch does not want to hook on too the new switch Any recommendation?
On our Frigidaire Affinity,it was much easier to remove the top only held by 2 small screws at the back and then reach down to pull up lock assembly after removing the 2 small screws on front side holding it in place. This avoids having to remove and replace rubber seal.
I did it Steve's way, and I can say it was super easy to replace the rubber seal in its place. My washer sits on top of a drawer and your way would have been way to high for me to reach. I have to admit that I did break the clamp when I pulled on the spring...it was rusted. But I still would have opted to do it Steve's way.
I replaced mine a few months ago and seemed to work. Left for a job and now it really only locks when in spin mode. Have to keep a chair in front so it doesn't open. Why is this happening and why isn't a error code coming up?
Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the old style Frigidaire door lock switch for model # FWT445GES1 front load washer ? I forgot to mark where the wires connect .
For the rookies here this can be done by removing the top don't peel back the seal like a pro or else you gonna have to pay for a new seal like they will charge you for
@@brianbaker359 I saw a different video suggesting that. But on my washer (GLTF2940FS0), the access from above is blocked by some tubes and stuff and the gap between the barrel and the case is small and I wasn't able to unplug the wire harnesses easily. Going in via the seal worked great for me, super easy.
My problem is that the washer starts you put it in the cycle you want and it sounds like it's about to start and then it makes a humming sound after a couple of seconds to cycle will stop you think this might be my problem
This video is as clear as it gets! Thank you so much, saved me a bundle.

Is there a way to tell if the problem is my washer's lock? It is not the penny catcher, cleaned that yesterday.
I did this and my washer door still won’t lock I don’t know if it’s the door not closing fully any help with this would be appreciated
Thanks sir for safe my money
Thank you...
You're welcome!
Thanks you!
Hi I replaced it but same issue is occurring washer still does not lock door or start and now my door latch does not want to hook on too the new switch
Any recommendation?
Hi 👋🏻 What if door won’t open?
How do you open the locked door to get at the lock
On our Frigidaire Affinity,it was much easier to remove the top only held by 2 small screws at the back and then reach down to pull up lock assembly after removing the 2 small screws on front side holding it in place. This avoids having to remove and replace rubber seal.

Where can I purchase a new wire also??
Where to buy the replacement?
Ty very easy
My husband replaced that part and still won't lock, what else should we do?
That’s how you know Steve is a real goon, he got that bellow spring on with his hands.

Excellent, thanks!
ware did you buy that one ,i have that i need a new one?
Thank you
Would this be the fix for E41 where the board thinks the door switch is open? Thx
Yes
I replaced mine, but the washer still beeps angrily at me when I try to start a load. It looks like it all locks properly like it used to.
Where do I purchase the part?
Anyway to inactive the lock? I want it to close and lock but not to lock me out of my washer when it's not running! Drives me insane
How to replace the lockin 3:35 g switch on a samsung

Exactly, 2 screws on back of top, slide back and reach down to remove locking mechanism after removing 2 screws from front. So much easier.
