My favorite part of this episode is the last scene, and when it comes to reaction videos I love to see reactions to people seeing all the previous big bads.

Yeah, Buffy training Dawn was a callback to the season 6 finale - Dawn helped Buffy fight, and now Buffy is training her so she can fight better.

I LOVED the faces at the end.
Did anyone let you know that the stuff with Willow and Giles was shot in Westbury at Anthony Stewart Head's farm. It's in Farmborough village outside of Bath?

I seem to remember that someone said it was his land. He must be rich! 😲 I'll be honest, I had zero clue where Westbury was. Haha. I've heard of Farmborough, though. 😁

Did you catch the Avengers reference when Willow mentions “Miss Harkness” in her first scene.

No, sorry. I've never seen The Avengers.

Yeah, hard to believe you are already on season 7! ❤
I have an irregular heat best at times so I’m very familiar with abnormal heart rates. I don’t think your heart rate is abnormal considering what you are doing. Being on camera in front of your audience is stressful no matter how normal it might seem to you at this point. You are thinking hard, putting energy into your presentation while talking constantly in your intro. I think 90 to 120 would be pretty normal under those circumstances. (By the way, the inset of the episode scenes covered your heart rate during the video, but I’m sure you noticed that while editing)

Right?! E1 seems so long ago now, but I still can't quite believe we're here.
Haha, thanks. That's reassured me. I didn't mention it at the time, but I'd just eaten two bowls of chocolate ice cream, so there's that. 😂 TBF, my resting HR isn't great. Whatever, I'm well into my 40s now; I'm not supposed to be in the low 50s anymore. 😁 I got the idea from another reactor and their HR was in the mid 60s, but then they're almost 20 years younger than me. Sorry to hear about your irregular heartbeat, hopefully it's not too serious. 🤞

I think the vengeance demon Halfrek was just trying to get rid of William in order to get to her real target who needed vengeance, probably someone else at that house party or someone they knew. Maybe putting him down was part of the persona she was trying to project.

Every time I see someone react to this episode and the ending confuses them I just want to say "think about what all of those characters have in common including Buffy and if the answer to who is behind it doesn't become immediately clear, then you'll have a huge clue"

I think Angel was supposed to have appeared in stead of Drusilla, but the network didn’t give permission or something like that.

Nice reaction to a season that has the most diverse reactions from fans. My group of Buffy Watchers since the beginning have agreed that this year is similar to the sewer breakup scene with Buffy and Angel in The Prom. The show is Angel and knows the relationship has to end for practical reasons. He doesn’t like it but understands their reality. Buffy wants to keep being with Angel but knows deep down it has to end. The audience is like Buffy. We know it has to end but we don’t want it to happen. It is with this backdrop that the final 22 episodes take place. We prefer to group the year together has the final 150 pages of a great 800 page novel. Be patient…. After all we have to have quality closure for people and stories that the audience has become emotionally involved and bonded. No break up is completely satisfying but if done properly, we can be like Willow and Oz meeting in Istanbul after many years.

      SPOILER:
      They've all died!
Wait, have I just spoiled that for myself? That must mean that it's The First! And now Buffy will probably have to fight it, and Anya will die, and Spike will sacrifice himself to save the day and... I'll stop there - it's pointless, my predictions never end up coming true. 😁

I'm a bit baffled on your thought process of Spike reverting back to William because of his soul. Think about Angel - he wasn't Liam just because his soul was restored.

    • @jaypeakay5864
      @jaypeakay5864  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I’ll try to explain what I’ve been thinking, LMK if I’m way off, lol.
I don’t believe in a ‘soul’, but let’s say it exists, as it does in the show. Isn’t the whole idea of a soul that it’s supposed to be individual? As I said, I don’t believe in them, so I’ve made not attempt to understand what a soul is supposed to be, but maybe they’re meant to be ‘fresh’‘ individual souls? If not, wouldn’t Spike’s “new” soul, be that of William?
I actually did think that Angel (with a soul) was now Liam again, but Liam with the memories of Angelus, which, in terms of time, vastly outweigh the memories of Liam. As memories shape who we are, there’s barely a trace of Liam left - not only were those memories older, but they were much more fleeting than those of Angelus. Given what Angelus did, and how strong his lust for blood and evil was, they were probably less vivid too. So yeah, Liam, but a different version of him.
I’ve been uncertain of the whole ‘soul return’ thing since the beginning, so maybe I have all of that wrong. But then my question is, why did Buffy call Spike ‘William’ later in the season and seemingly make a deliberate effort to do so? And why would a newly restored soul care so much about William and his previous human life? He’s been kind of obsessed with it the whole season.
I’m probably wrong, but I just thought I’d explain my logic.

Tip: instead of posting Season 7, Episode 1, which is so long you can’t see the 1 in the title, just pose S: 7, E: 1, then your viewers can find episodes easily, quickly, without getting frustrated.

Yes, Spike went specifically to get his soul back. Unlike Angel who didnt want his soul back and had to be cursed with it, Spike chose to get it to become a better man.

I really like the "back to the old times" theme here. Even
more after such a dark season like season 6, it needed some light.
    Sunnydale high back.
Dawn with the two students "representing" the og trio: Buffy, Willow and Xander.
The end with the big bads fan service.
And very cool the fact the actors were in England for the Willow and Giles scene.

I think Lessons was an excellent opener with the opening scene in Istanbul with the girl being chased by the shrouded men a great little 'taster' of what is to come in the Season. We the see Buffy training Dawn, who says 'I'm now taller than you' we can see how Dawn has grown. Then as we are coming full circle Principal Wood cuts the ribbon to open Sunnydale High. Funny when Buffy says 'do I have mum hair' when Wood thinks she is Dawn's mother. We get our first scene of Supernatural happenings with Buffy in the bathroom. Very funny when Dawn says she was into 'Britney Spears early work, before she sold out'. The we have Buffy as the 'embarrassing mum' ruining Dawns intro to the class. The pencil scene is great when the student asks for it Dawn them seemingly stabs her in the eye with it, a throwback to Nightmares episode in S1. As Buffy is fighting the manifest spirits, we suddenly see a very strange looking Spike behind the door. Buffy sees his injuries, we know something has changed. Xander eventually breaks The Talisman, again funny scene when the student says 'you are the coolest mum ever'. When Principal Wood offers Buffy the job of Counsellor, of course she accepts, now call me cynical but surely you would have to have training, qualifications, credentials and experience to get such a post, but hey this is Sunnydale High after all. One of the greatest scenes in the whole Buffyverse at the end with Spike being tormented by Warren, Glory, Adam, The Mayor, Drusilla, and The Master, what have they all got in common, and of course finally Buffy too. It is brilliant writing. Great reaction again can see that you are enthralled and intrigued by this great opener for S7.

Haha. I'm not sure I've ever been to a gym in my entire life. I was a runner for a while but it's been a _good_ while. 😂 I actually filmed 4 Buffy reactions that night so the monitor remains for the next 3 reactions. I didn't use it again. ☹

Heart rate monitor-great idea, especially for season 7, based on my experience of watching 7 as I found it very different to 5 and 6. Well, every season is different, but some are more different than others.
Obvious screnn layout refinement: it would be good to see heart rate and show at the same time.

      @jaypeakay5864  หลายเดือนก่อน

I agree. S7 is quite different; in a good way, IMO.
Haha. I totally didn't think that layout through. It was only when I did the edit that I realised I'd put it in the wrong place. 🤦‍♂I thought about cutting it out and inserting it elsewhere but it was too much work, lol.
