I smash into at least 2 or 3 corners every single time doing this hillclimb in assetto corsa, how these guys manage to drive million dollar+ vintage racecars up the hill without destroying them at blistering speed is beyond me
Well, the truth really isn´t far off :P It really comes down to having it as we were provided or not having it at all. In the end we believe the public will appreciate the onboard bit even if the quality is pre-historic...
@@HillClimbMonsters I don't know about other people, but I do appreciate it. But in my opinion, I do think that when the quality is so different than the rest of the clips, it should be separated, because intersected (like it is on this video) throws me off a bit when it changes. If the quality is similar then is fine.
As a German i can wrote this: Years ago we called eg. the Italians "Spaghetti" and most of the World called the Germans Kartoffel - thats translatet into english is "potatoe" This Cat war original build in Germany so a "Potatoe in car footage" is historcal correct a you can get it :-)
The way the thing accelerates when it comes on boost is insane, the noise is probably the best sounding in the world, such a shame that Keith is now selling this monster of a car :-(
Only problem with this baby in GT7 is that it IS a pikes peak edition. With PIkes usually being run in the day time, there's no additional lighting like most other rally cars so at night you can't see a DAMN THING!!! LMAO
Car's wheelbase looks to be a few inches short. The way those front wheels show in fast, tight turns makes you wonder. One scary sounding Audi to be sure.
I see no point of this being 4 wheel drive if you keep letting of and coasting round the bends and just nailing it on the exit. Watch how the original S1 was thrashed in its era. Full commitment into, and through the bends. Never letting of. 4 wheel drifts though every bend. Dab on the brakes with the left foot and the right foot planted. This is being very timidly.
I believe the “Pikes Peak” in the title I’ve the video refers to the version of the Sport Quattro S1 E2 upon which this car was based. After Group B was ended, one of the S1 E2s was further modified to be driven by Walter Rörhl at the 1987 Pikes Peak hill climb. I believe the modifications included a revised aero package, revised turbocharger setup, further weight reduction, and a clutch pedal that could be operated via a button on the shifter (not sure if it was fully electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic), among other things.
You have no idea what you are talking about You can get a replica built in Germany by LCE Performance and they offer up to 1080 hp. They wouldn't build it and offer it to the customer if it couldn't handle it. My brother also has a 5 cylinder 20V with almost 800hp. it gets critical from 1200 with original engine block if it doesn't rip the mounts off the gearbox and twist the gearbox before then Gorter Racing also offers billet blocks that can handle 2000hp. STFU😉
One of the best sounding cars of all time. Absolute masterpiece of a vehicle.
I'd have to strongly agree with you.... so iconic
Sound of a 5 pot at full chat is just spectacular. Car looks incredibly composed - Driver must really know that car well.
Couldn't of said it better myself. Nothing like the waaaaaaaaaa shh too too too too
As someone with a 5 cylinder car, I couldn't agree more!
That car is trying it's damnedest to kill him at every moment so it's insane to see how effortlessly it looks like he's driving it.
I smash into at least 2 or 3 corners every single time doing this hillclimb in assetto corsa, how these guys manage to drive million dollar+ vintage racecars up the hill without destroying them at blistering speed is beyond me
And to this day I'm still in love with the S1
The sound
The looks
Everything
That car is badass, the best euro car for sure. Quattro is love
My fav car, period. Keep your Ferraris, lambos etc. Sport quattro e2 is the pinnacle for me 💛
HCM - "You can have potato in-car footage or you can have no in-car footage."
Me - I'll take the potato in-car footage!
Well, the truth really isn´t far off :P

I was just tooling one of these around in GT7 yesterday. Would be awesome to be able to pilot a real one lol.
Only problem with this baby in GT7 is that it IS a pikes peak edition. With PIkes usually being run in the day time, there's no additional lighting like most other rally cars so at night you can't see a DAMN THING!!! LMAO

That short wheelbase was intended. No need to be stable on a straight line for those cars
I would been dead and wrapped around a tree by first corner with that thing.

That’s NOT Pikes Peak!
