- Today we show you how to use your old, DSLR Canon lenses on your shiny new Nikon Z camera. Why would you do this? Because you don't care what anyone thinks.
You'll need the Megadap EFTZ adaptor:

I use the megadap etz adapter and am so happy that I can use my Sony 24 1.4 with the Nikon ZF.
In general it is such a cool time for people who want to use any lens on every camera. It is basically possible to cross combine everything.
My secret favourite: I use the neewer etz adapter and mount old vintage lenses to Sony E and then this combo to Nikon Z and then I get manual focus confirmation with everything you can mount on Sony E. could be Canon fd, Nikon F, m42, Exa-Mount, OM Mount, … you know.
Such good times for photo geeks. 😅
Adapting lenses is so freeing! It lets you choose between so many more lenses!
I got the Fringer adapter after I got my Zf. Using the EF 50mm f1.2 L on the Zf is a revelation. The other Canon lenses you cannot get on any other full frame system are the 17mm and 24mm TS-E lenses. EF lenses are THE most versatile lenses, that mount will never die.
I use a Fringer adapter to put my Nikkor 105 macro (aka the GOAT!!) on my X-H2. Great fun 🙂
Hi Omar, why not just ETZ adapter? then you can use EF to E and E to Z, so you can use EF lenses on both your Sony and Nikon body, additionally you can also use E mount lenses to Nikon body.
Metabones adapter filled the need when there weren’t many Sony E-mount lenses. Always some compromises, but worth it.
I use an old metabones adapter on my original Sony A7 to adapt my old Canon 40mm f2.8 lens, not quite a pancake once adapted but still fairly compact and good fun :)
The Megadap for E to Z is also pretty good, use the 20 1.8 or 24 1.4 all the time on the ZF.
Who would still want an FTZ adapter (Nikon F lens to Nikon Z body) with the screw-driver Autofocus mechanism? Megadap can make an AF adapter that "screws" complete Leica lenses forth and back - I don't understand the problem here.
There's no way for me to go back to F-mount lenses in general and it would have never withheld me from migrating to all Z primes, but a few old lenses I never sold that have some nostalgic value or character, would be nice to be able to use them on the Z camera (and do away with the D camera I still have and almost never use any longer).
The aesthetics of that adapter remind me of the old Minolta "beercan" lenses. Neat :D
For sure - adapting is the way to go. Shooting Canon for years, I have a decent collection of glass that I can use on my Fuji XT20 and also Canon R62. Besides the cost savings, I prefer the direct focus of my EF lenses to focus-by-wire on RF (and Fuji).
I bought the Megadap Sony E to NikonZ so I could use the 25MM Zeis Batis I still own,. I use it with my Z6 and it works amazingly well. The AF is fast, really it doesn't feel any slower than my one native lens. 28-75 2.8. If I owned high end Canon glass I'd say it's worth a try if you also shoot Nikon Z. I wish they'd make t for Fujifilm X...
I was wondering about getting the Fringer EF-Z and I'm thinking I might go with this instead. Totally agree about adapting EF lenses. There are some truly great ones, like the 85mm f/1.4, 135mm f/2, etc that have a specific look and are much cheaper than getting the latest mirrorless versions. And since I still shoot film sometimes with an EOS Elan, I can share lenses between them.
So close to 200k! 😊
Love using adapted lenses. I've been wondering how some of the "big" Canon lenses might work adapted to my X-T3. I've seen zooms for sale used from time to time for quite a bit less than the XF50-140 for example. The thing that held me back so far was that my purpose for the lens is sports, so no AF might not make it a great choice. Loved your photographic cameo on Moe's recent video BTW! Good stuff, thanks for the info. Have a great weekend!
You'll always lose a little AF confidence and speed. Which can be a negligible negative if you have incredible AF like Sony and Canon. However, if you're at the back of the pack with Leica and Fujifilm there's a bit more to lose. You might end up in contrast detect territory.
Nikon and Panasonic will probably end up as good as Fujifilm and Leica AF after taking the hit.
@@-grey Yeah, it just depends on how much the lens costs as a trade off. But, it could also be fun working like the sports photographers of old with manual focus! LOL! I've seen a few Canon zooms on the used market but they weren't quite cheap enough to pounce!
If it helps - I’ve used the fringer pro mk2 ef to Fuji adapter with autofocus success for a few years - my use cases are motorsports (long telephoto) and family photos (50mm) but I can recommend that adapter ! The pro version includes an aperture ring to keep that fujifilm control layout
@@Ezekielhanley Thank-you! I will keep it in mind. I also want to shoot motor sports. I'm going to Watkins Glen for the Six Hours race in June.
Something about mounting a Canon EF lens by turning it counter-clockwise just seems so wrong. Feel like I just took the "Red Pill" or something. I'd have to mount the adapter to the body and then the lens to the adapter or I'm pretty sure I'd break something. Nice to know about this adapter though. I still have a bunch of EF lenses and the top tier Used EF lenses are starting to go for very attractive prices. I also love that 35 f2 BTW. Thanks!
I have Sigma Canon mount lenses that I have from my Canon days. I am using them on my Z8 with another adaptor mfg.
Can you suggest a NikonD to FujiX adapter? I want to adapt one of my favorite Nikkor 85mm AF-S into my Fuji XT30II.
Fringer adapter is the best
you were at 199k subscribers so I subscribed to get you to 200,000 but the count didn't go up ??
By the way I always meant. to subscribe. 😊
Do they have it for Fuji lenses?
Fuji are mirrorless, so there is only one, just manual focus, and it's super thin
And nice pictures.
Hi Omar i bought the sigma 30 F1.4 ART for canon EF and I wish I had bought that 35 F2 IS from canon. Autofocus is hit or mis with the sigma even after calibrating the dammned thing with the usb dock.
Thanks for sharing.
You do you Omar!
Nice facial hair, dude)
Why? Afs lens has better iq?
Great video Omar. I checked on both Amazon and B&H and neither had this adapter. Do you know where one could purchase this. Thanks!🙏
