    Those are the best jobs going. Always a learning curve as you dig down further and uncover the history. Move a couple of pipes you say. Did they tell you it would only take 5 minutes too.

    Hi Tom -- just started to watch the video -- yet another hard job !! the owner said the job was only just moving 2 pipes eh ! -- my guess is he started the stripping out thinking he could do the job himself ! -- then he realised he needed a proper tradesman like you -- -- i know you will sort the job out coz ive seen lots of your videos -- just hope you get good money for doing the job coz you deserve it -- im sure it would have been one big house years ago thats been split into flats so i bet the water main serves more than just the one flat -- take care Jim ....

I also think the job was a big bigger than the customer expected, to be honest it saved me a bit of work not having to strip the old bathroom out, I completely get that customers want to save money where ever they can but some jobs you can't DIY

    Hi Tom I'd use a 3inch waste pipe not many people even know you can even get a 3 inch waste pipe and that it is fine to use.

      I know you can mate, not many places stock it though, from memory 3" can feed up to six toilets, I know multiquick still make the 3" pan connectors as well

    How did you get the soil pipe behind the toilet did you just use 2x 90’s?

      Thanks for the support mate, I haven't finished the internal soil pipe yet, the floor really needs re-joisting and I really need the new toilet on site to bring everything through in the right place, I will probably get it with a 45 and a 90 though

      I don't think the pipe was leaking but I will have a good look when I go back, I think it was more to do with there being no damp course and the ground level outside being higher, thanks for watching as always mate 👍

    Nice job as usual tom. What was the warning notice on the boiler for? Would be cheaper to replace it than move it.

      The customer wants the boiler to go in the kitchen, apparently the warning label was put on because the gas meter was changed to a smart one but there was no electricity to test the boiler so they isolated it, at the end of the day all I can do is give best advise, I personally would change it but its the customers money, if it passes its safety checks I can sign it off, if not it gets a sticker on it, thanks for watching as always 👍

    How do you price jobs like that. Do you price it as a day rate or just price the job for the work involved

      This one is a day rate, I normally don't work like this, but because it's a customer I have worked for in the past, we are both happy to do it on day rate. I normally prefer to price everything, that way you have some sort of contract, thanks for watching

      I'm not sure what toilet will be going in yet mate, the position the new soil pipe is in will make it possible for a frame or for a standard close coupled toilet, the customer wanted the shower where the old toilet was meaning the only option was to re route it under the floor, it will look so much better though with the new layout

    that gas install was terrible was prob the result of fuming from breaking the drain and spending time on the repair ... no excuse though really but could have been the reason for it being so rough ....

      Shocking what you come across, there was a fusion joint about another foot from this as well so they defiantly knew they had squashed the pipe, thanks for watching as always mate

      it would be interesting to see, unfortunately It's not the meter for the property im working on, it is piped externally on 28mm and it looks to go straight into the boiler, so that pipe size wouldn't be a problem, the gas transporter would probably just change the regulator and just walk away
