The fact that Death alone, without the power granted by the Charred council to serve the balance, outmatched a fully powered Samael, one of the most powerful demon lords, before his fall, shows how strong a Nephilim is and how giant of a threat an army of them posed to all of creation.

Why do people debate who the strongest horsemen is. It's clearly stated that Death is and he is the oldest and their leader. When War went bananas Strife and Fury couldn't hold him off and then Death arrives and War stabbed Death through the stomach/chest and Death just glared at him unamused and cut of his right arm which is why he now has that badass huge gauntlet. Death is the strongest. He doesn't even have a fraction of his power in this game.

oh I remember going Necromancer full on geting as much arcane power as possible .. I just used Ghouls one time and few hits and any boss was down. The Final boss i did in about 5 seconds.

Shadow's edge was quite disappointing. A lot of time creators spent on Makers lands, even more of Dead kingdom, little less for Angel's realm and absolutely none for Demon's one. First time I started that mission with the idea I will play it a few days, like the previous ones. I was so surprised I ended it for hour or something, I mean, so rushed.

The council actually ordered that Samael be the next in line for hell as Satans time ruling was running short(what they said). However Satan is not willing to give up the throne while Samael wants the throne to rule hell the way he envisions it. Satan is the most powerful demon of hell while samael is probably second. Lucifer was the one who sent the horsmens mother(mother of the nephilim) to create the scheme of trapping the angel hellguard turning abbadon into the destroyer and convincing death to resurrect the nephilim which he did not. Death instead chose to resurrect humanity in order to save his brother from judgement. This pissed off the dark prince(aka satan) which led him to torture Lilith in the after credit scene of darksiders 2 telling her “and this time you’ll get no pleasure from it” as she screams in agony.

The fast pace combined with the soundtrack made this fight one of the most memorable encounters in games I've seen.
