I found Argul the Deposed King to be the most difficult boss in the game to be honest. This might be the case because I was bad when I first encountered him though. :P

Not really. Absalom used some cheap 100 percent kills on Apocalyptic. If you stagger him and stand in front of him, his body can strike and kill you.
@@robin9740 You fought Argul underlevled(probably). Arguls weapon requires you to be level 20 to wield it after killing him. I fought him on normal difficulty at level 15 and Argul one shot me as soon as I got hit.
I have a theory about Absalom and the Corruption...
The Nephelim's weapons are living weapons built from one of the first creatures they conquered, a race that could bend and shape their own flesh to do unique things. After the victory, Death suggested shaping the remains into their own unique weapons, which were used by the majority of them; all the Horsemen are assumed to have their own, and Absalom's axe is confirmed to be one of them. Each of these weapons contained some shred of intelligence of the being that they were composed from, each of which still hating the Nephelim for their actions.
Absalom forms his axe from his body in the beginning of the fight. What if Absalom and his axe bonded with one another upon his death, thus creating the substance known as Corruption? It makes sense; the corruption is an aberration of flesh, made of an organic substance that primarily targets items of organic origin (the Maker's Souls, for example, being composed of the souls of living, organic beings, hence why the Guardian could be corrupted), and targets both Angels and Demons equally with ease. It is pretty likely that Absalom and his axe are working together as one, and that the Corruption is an extension of the axe's former fleshcrafting abilities.
Just an idea, but I think it's pretty cool.
It's a good theory, I agree totally because Absalom does form his axe from his corrupted form. Also, thinking about it, when Death killed Absalom, he most likely bonded with another entity to make him Corruption. I say its quite possible.

I know this is two years too late, but Death did die. Not for a very long time, (DS2 is around the same time as DS1) but he did indeed die. When the seals are broken all Horsemen are called to the apocalypse no matter their condition, whether they're dying, dead, or trapped, they'll still be called forth.

He WAS the strongest nephilim, seeing as death has beaten him twice now
So with War, we see the more dark side of the Charred Council as they conspired against War to maintain their idea of “balance”. At the same time, Death pretty much saved all the realms from the corruptive influence spawned by his eldest brother. Wonder what other conspiracies or plots Fury will uncover in her side of the story in the third game.
But all of this; Abaddon becoming the Destroyer, Absalom’s corruption, even the Charred Council’s own conspiracies are all pieces in one game. A game devised by Lucifer himself.
I suspect(hope?) that the very fínal game will re-enact a balance and a new Pact of Seven Seals.
With Abbadon killed by War in the first game, Heaven has lost its leader.
Corruption could thrive, since the Counsil was playing a game of its own(perhaps Corruption got to them?), but Death put a stop to that(and cleared War's name!)
The Seven Deadly sins, unleashed bý the corrupted Counsil vanquished, including the Charred Counsil after that, by Fury there is now a void in the Balance?
The game's story still has 1 final chapter left: The end of the great mastermind of this: Lucifer himself! The allpowerful Overlord of Hell(even Samael awnsers to him... he despises Lucifer, but Lucifer ís just more powerful then Samael).
Through the eons in the previous games, Lucifer has grown strong, too strong even for the Four Horsemen to handle... Enter Samael, Enter Uriel? They realise that if Lucifer has his way, he will be an eternal and unstoppable tyrant! That must not be! So with the aid of the forces of Heaven ánd Hell, Luficer's reign is brought to an end, in an epic and spectacular way!
But without the Counsil keeping tabs, an Abbadon keeping Heaven at Guard, or Lucifer to keep the forces of Hell in check, there is now a void.
A void that MUST be filled, or chaos will consume the realms: There must be some sort of Order?
The Four Horsemen agreeing to the new Pact alongside Heaven and Hell: to Bind the Horsemen's Powers within the Seven Seals, only to be unleashed when (one of the) Pact's agreements(seals) is broken:
Uriel to take up the mantle for Heaven. Cleansed of the accusations against her, and her honor restored by vows of the Horsemen, and even Samael, she takes the Reign over Heaven!
Likewise, Samael becoming Hell's new Overlord and Ruler, in turn, hís honor and Word reckognised by the Horsemen ánd Uriel, he takes Lucifers place.
And the Horsemen, on théir turn taking the place of the Counsil in maintaining the Balance.
The Endwar was waged, the result was undecided thus the New Pact will ensure this would never happen again: Humanity earned its place amongst the Realms(at the expense of the nephilim?).
Human's souls are to be judged upon the end of their existance if they are sent to Heaven, or to Hell?

Enter Strife? As his violent speciality already is 'striking from a distance', it would seem fitting to his character to be the one trying the hardest to obtain the greater: the whole picture?
Strife was shortly shown to be disguisded as a human hunter on Earth(DS-3 ending?), which cóuld indicate that Strife hád been on Earth, all alongside War ánd Fury's quest's there, Ensuring his brother and sister would succeed, whislt hé was collecting the necessairy 'pieces of the Puzzle'?
Having the leads from DS1: The Destroyer, and how that came to be. DS2's Corruption and Death ending that. DS3's uncovering of the Counsil's true betrayal to 'their own' Balance.
DS4 would be the story where áll the pieces are put together? Strife is a long way in to 'paiting the whole picture', rest 'but the story'where Strife finds the last pieces: Direct evidence of Lucifer's guilt as the Mastermind of this all: Corruption's influence in all the Realms, including the Charred Counsil itself, how Abbadon was infested with it, causing Abbadon to plot against Hell: all according to Lucifer's plan: Lucifer created the spreading festering that was 'Corruption', HE sought out Absolom's soul from the ashes of Eden, before Death captured it in the Amulet. Lucifer manipulated Absolom into becoming this manipulative yet unstoppable power(well perhaps unstoppable for all, bút Lucifer? For instance: Samael was leeched of his Power, which was dispersed along 4 of the Destroyer's Chosen: Tiamat, the Griever, the Stygian and Silitha's Black Hearts? If Lucifer can extract power from someone as powerful as Samael, he could probably do the same with Corruption?).
Corruption was nothing but Lucifer's Proxy to start an all-out war to weaken all his Enemies enough so hé could overthrow all of Creation and rúle, Unchallenged, Unchecked, and Indefinately!
And even íf he would be uncovered at a point, especially THIS point: Lucifer has grown in power, secretly, and he is already too powerful for the Four' to take head-on; He's already grown unstoppable!

Yeah that's what I got from it. Death sacrificed his life to resurrect mankind, and War just moments later happen to cause the one event to bring him back by the technicality of there absolute law as FOUR Horsemen.

Archon was much harder. Samael was somewhat harder. This was EASY.

i think death is just the most powerful in terms of abilities and other goodies.... maybe absalom was just perfect in respects to physicality as he was THE first nephilim created. It also got me wondering, since Death technically has beaten beings who are wayyy more powerful than Absalom, like Samael... but he didn't really beat him, more like made him his bitch =D
Was would be a better word. When the Charred Counsel gave War, Fury, Strife and Death with their power, it was a slaughter house for the nephilim, Absalom was probably one of the last to face down Death.
yeah, the horsemen get brought back once the seals are broken as War was killed by Uriel in the first game and when she shattered the seventh seal War was resurrected and free from the council.

Oh man, i love this game. I just wish it were harder, Apocalyptic is not hard at all when you already know how to dodge every attack.
The game balance wasnt good. Too many weapons are thrown at you and you could sell then for too much money.

The game seemed very derivative of Blood Omen 2 at parts
personally, avatar was a severe disappointment as a boss. Samael was harder and even my friends agreed that avatar was pathetic as a final boss. avatar was super telegraphed where as Samael needed good timing and always paying attention to his patterns, where as avatar was just dodge dodge throw scythe, wait, dodge dodge throw scythe, repeat till dead. besides the fact that avatar hit harder, he was weaker mechanic wise to Samael by a long shot.
That avatar of corruption is named Absalom. He was the first Nephilim ever born and was the first host of corruption after death.
And I agree the boss was underwhelming. I wish it were better. I think they were just running out of budget and couldn’t make this final boss like they did Abaddon in the first game.
But Lore wise, Samael is the second most powerful demon after Lucifer. He even rivals Lucifer and comes very close to his power so much that Lucifer sees Samael as one of his biggest threats to his rule. Samael is a heck of a lot more powerful than Absalom and Death combined and it’s not even close. His powers are literally god like and he even has a degree of omnipotence. Samael was merely toying with death on that fight as a means to test him and also have some fun. So lord wise it makes sense why Samaels fight was better and more difficult mechanically. If Samael really wanted to he could have used his telekenesis abilities to mangle death in a small glob in less than a second.
But they should have made this final boss better. It was a big let down honestly.

I really just wanna see a total remake of darksiders and this one it would be awesome with the better graphics and updated combat system, and if they did they could add new versions of scythes and not copy/paste ones
I don’t think they ever will. This franchise is not too popular and the studios in charge of this game don’t have the necessary resources to reboot this game the way you want. Plus they also don’t want to risk that because chances are it will fail. Darksiders is also not considered triple A. Plus we already have a remastered version.
But if they do make a remaster I think it would be cool to add in things they couldn’t add in but wanted too. I also think it would be cool to add new scythes like you said. I would also like for them to allow death to double jump and run. Maybe they can even add some stealth sections with cool takedowns. Or this is reaching but maybe they can make more cool set action pieces. Just my ideas though. But it will never happen, at least in my lifetime or if they ever sell the Darksiders IP. But who will want the Darksiders IP if it’s not that successful.
It’s a understated game that was never given a fair chance that’s for sure and it’s a shame. Future games in the franchise will suffer because of it.

Your idea doesn't really fit Death's character IMO. At least not the character from the Death we have come to know in DrS2. Did you play the Demon Lord Belial DLC? Death can absolutely talk with humans, and he even cares (a little bit).
But I guess we have'll just have to wait (and hope) for an announcement trailer for DrS3.

He was never imprisoned during this time only when death went back in the past he was
iirc, the full events of Darksiders 2 happens both before (because he was trying to clear War's name, which to me meant he was chained up getting bitched out) and during Darksiders 1 (seen by the cutscene with the Archon).

Why *was* Death immune to Corruption? I know Absalom became corrupted because (spoilers) of an axe he found, which if I recall correctly was born from the Void. But no clue as to how or why Death wasn’t.
Because as Absalom puts it: Death's soul is already corrupted. Corrupted by the sin of betrayal. You can't taint what it is already tainted.

I still don't get it. How did Absalom come back to live in the beginning, when Death killed him already? Just what exactly is this corruption power, and why can't anyone stand up to it? Where the hell did Samael go? So many questions. So many questions.
jumpman20772 samael is on earth at the time of darksiders 2 (present not past when you fight him) because darksiders 2 is set during the event of either darksiders 2. This series is really interesting and the lore and story is amazing. I hope they will made this darksiders 3 and than a 4 and 5 as an ending. This series deserves more that what has got though the years so underrated

I can't beat this boss. After the second "execute" he grabs me and smashes me into the ground several times. After that I have like 1 health and die.

Fast travel to buy more health potions or keep using your abilities and try to dodge attacks oddly i had a little trouble with absalom but had no issues with samael which is suppose to be more difficult than absalom

xXGrEyZXx Death can’t hold it for long because the 7th seal has not been broken which is why his reaper form is in limited use. The 7th seal is broken in darksiders 1 which ends after the 2nd game.

Theri4444 I think that's the point. It's supposed to show that corruption doesn't make you more powerful. The game makes you believe that absolom was more powerful than you and that the corruption had made him stronger. They make it clear that death could not have defeated absolom the first time without the council's power. So they make it seem like it will be an impossible battle against an entity of pure destruction and chaos. But the truth is that absolom is a shell of his former self, especially because of the corruption. He's so weak that death, not even at a tenth of his full power, could defeat him with relative ease.

well i got stuck at one bit and couldn't be arsed doing the walkthrough and uninstalled it for like 2 years then i got darksiders 1 free and it was pretty easy so i done that then finished darksiders 2 it's perfect timing though at this rate by the time i finish darksiders 3 darksiders 4 will be coming out

"Nordic Games" bought the Darksiders IP (alongside some other IP's) from ex-THQ. But they haven't made any good games AFAIK, and they don't have the money to produce a great game. I hope they seek help from a bigger developer/publisher. Now that Vigil Games is part of Crytek USA (correct?), I could see some great collaboration and a great game being made.
Because I just like the idea. Think about it. Mankind would die again, because the horsemen were summoned and the Apocalypse triggered at the end of DrS1. So it would've been better if he couldn't choose. And it's just a cool idea. There is still the "crime of War" (he didn'd do anything, so Death doesn't even need to clear his name) that people think he has commited, so that would've been awesome. A coop or two-protagonist DrS3 (War+Death) would be cool. Interesting dynamic (crime blabla).

Samael must have had his story backwards when he said THIS is supposed to be the strongest nephilim.....
He isn't particularly hard if you can dodge his attacks and not get stuck in one of his combos. Plus I think he might be harder in the Crucible.

Death is the most powerful horsemen, the eldest (thus the most experienced), the fastest, and the most skilled horsemen.
War is physically the strongest but lags behind his brother in most other feats.
War has never won in a fight against Death. While sometimes getting close, Death always comes out on top. Also Death is the reason why War has a prosthetic arm. Yes, it took the combined efforts of three horsemen to subdue war, Death did not break a sweat while his other siblings were struggling to take War down. Death was also not attempting to kill his brother and was holding back. Even after being stabbed through the chest with Chaos water, nothing happened to Death and he struggled the stab wound off like it was nothing while war cried on the floor from losing his arm.
It’s also noteworthy to note that Death is the leader of the horsemen, with strife being second in command if something were to happen to Death.
Death is also trained in most weapons there is to be. This is because his main schythes which are not present in the game can transform into any weapon he can think of.
Finally, Deaths reaper form is the most dangerous out of all forms
