The black ball with the vacuum tube coming out of it is for the ac/heater switch. It needs a manifold vac source not a carb vac source. The ball will have a second usually smaller vac tube somewhere. That goes to the vac line at the dash going to the switch. If you connect the vac canister, black ball, to the carb, is it a ported or manifold source? If it is ported it will have little to no vac at an idle. That is for vac advance on the distributor. If it is manifold it will have a strong vac at idle. You want a strong vac at idle. Use a manifold port.
Out of all the videos I’ve watched I have noticed they had duct seal compound around the hole of the A/C box where the tube comes out going into the canister by the blower motor.

Hey I had a similar issue check the fuse for a good connection
It's basically the same issue of a loose battery terminal starts up fine but when you put more of a load it will lose connection
