Figured I'd clean up the frame and paint it while the bed is still off! Spent $20 on a quart of Krylon Farm and Implement paint in low gloss black, bout $7 on a spray can of the same stuff, and a bunch of cheap brushes. Turned out real nice!

@@JeepinJimmyI'm at 130k so I just bought pushrods with the new head + valves + springs from Clearwater. I'm pretty sure the lifters are good since the engine is running smooth. I just finished putting a new heater core in 2 weeks ago. When it rains it pours😒And Thanks for the response and posting the video.

Yes I would still set your initial 12 degrees before TDC

How are your rain gutters holding up? I looked into getting a roof tent for my 96 XJ but mind didn't have a roof rack at all from the factory. When I saw the gutter brackets I got excited until I started finding posts about them getting destroyed by the mounts. I think one person (On CherokeeForum) had their gutter mount punch a hole through their roof because the mount failed.... it was hard to tell because the photos are long gone.
They are holding up good! I keep the rent on year round and we use it frequently. My Jeep is fairly rust free which im sure plays a part. I think it also helps that there are 3 cross bars to distribute the weight

I've get the exact same 304, Transmission setup in a CJ-5. Did a complete rebuild of both of you want to compare notes.
Right on man! Id be curious what clutch you went with and if you did new master and slave cylinders
@@JeepinJimmy I'm using the standard clutch. I guess it's a heavy duty pressure plate with only 3 fingers. I'm still using the original bellcrank clutch linkage setup, but I used all new parts.
@@JeepinJimmy It's a '80 CJ-5 that I've had since High school. It had the 4.2L when I bought it, but it was mated to that T-15 3-speed. Pretty sure that wasn't factory. I came across a CJ-7 with a 304 that had rolled over in a junk yard and got the whole rolling chassis for $300, so I swapped out the engine.

The previous owner changed the board for my ram but now it doesn't have the VIN. Could it be that it stayed on the old board?
That could be the case! I didnt realize the vin was attached when I junked mine so now this truck does not have the vin tag on the dash.

when you removed the rest of the shifter when you was putting the gearbox back in..... does it just sit back in or was there linages or lining up for it to go back in?
It just goes right back on. You will see what needs lined up
If you take the step inserts out of the bumper. Gives you more room to get the stock tips off!! A lot easier access!!!
