Can the boards be set up to release when you have a fish on ?

Yes you can with the standard clips that come with the boards, but not the lockjaw series of clips that I use. I prefer not to be able to release my boards. Specially in a tournament situation, where I never want to give any slack

How big of lures can you run on a TX-12? I.E. harnesses only or bigger cranks?

Hello Brett, there is definitely a time and place for running big cranks on the TX-12's, early spring and late fall, when you're target speeds are 1.5mph down to less than a mile per hour. Course you could run Rapala DHJ-10, or similar sized baits with a 1oz snapweight at faster speeds now if you wished.

Is there a few planer board rods that you recommend. Also would like to use the same rod with bottom bouncers. I purchased a few Okuma 153 cold water reels that I’ll be pairing with them

Personally Iike an 8 to 9 foot rod for the boards, but once you get into the 9 footers you are looking at a two piece rods which makes harder to store in the boat, so I would look hard at 8 to 8'6" rods for what you are looking to do. Personal preference would be a St Croix Eyecon because it telescopes, but Daiwa makes some great choices for bouncing and pulling boards, both the Great Lakes or DXT rods would fit your needs nicely because they are actually downriver rods for salmon, soft enough for a 4 or six oz BB, and stiff/ strong enough to pull the boards

Thanks for the info. With St. Croix eyecon do you recommend a Med or Med Heavy

@@raff9938 The 8-ft 6-in medium, or if you want a little shorter, the 7-ft 6-in would be a good choice also in medium, because they both telescope
