    OK, I'm grateful for this video!! BestBuy cancelled my install of a Kenwood under seat subwoofer due the recent virus pandemic. So as an owner of a Jeep JKU I decided to tackle this myself (not a lot of experience but get by on logic). The remote wire from the SW had me stumped how to activate that until I found this video. Now I know to hook it up to the blue/white wire. Again, so much appreciated.

    I openly admit that I am an audio neophyte but I've watched several videos from you guys and your videos are clear and a wealth of information. I have a Kenwood head unit and I knew I had to bypass the hand brake feature. Just so you know, it's not the law where I live that this needs to be in place. But not only did you show me how to bypass it. I actually though that this wire carried +12V and I'm glad I decided to head to TH-cam before I caused a major problem. Not only did I learn that, but I also learned why I am probably now having a problem with the radio reception. I never connected that power antenna wire! My car has a bee-sting antenna on the roof and since that doesn't power extend or retract, I figured that the wire wasn't needed. I was about to do all kinds of things (including remove the headlining of the roof to remove and replace the antenna) that would have gotten me nowhere. Of course, I still need to go check to see if that is the source of the issue, but I am now reasonably sure that this is the cause. Thanks so much!

    You guys are great. Your videos are so informative. I just pulled the trigger and bought the Kenwood DDX9704S. I almost bought the Microbypass Parking Break Override, but after watching your video, I deleted this item from my shopping cart. Thanks for saving me from this unnecessary purchase. This radio is going into a 2016 Kia Rio with steering wheel control, so I also bought the Axxess ASWC-1. Thanks so much again. You guys also look like you are having a lot of fun making these videos. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the great harness explanation. My question has been answered. I have a DNX570HD (in the car when I bought it) which is no longer connecting to my cell phone. I am contemplating replacing it with a DDX396. My hesitance is this: whoever installed the stereo (I have no good words for this person) hacked the factory wiring and made it a complete mess. If I can replace the unit while utilizing the wiring with no modifications I will be very happy. You answered my question which was to know if both HUs use the same 16 pin harness. It appears they do. Thanks again!

    Hey Guys, I just love your videos. You guys are a blast ! ! I watch all of them and am a faithful subscriber. I just bought a 2005 Toyota Sequoia and it has a Kenwood DNX 893s with a wiring harness already wired together. If I cut the green wire coming out of the radio side plug and solder it into the black ground wire, like you showed in minute 2 of this video, do I need to do anything to the green wire on down the line. The green brake wire goes on somewhere else in the harness, I don't know where. Do I just cap off the other end of the green wire I cut ?

    Nice.... your video doesn't waste the viewer's time and gets to the point. Thank you! Wish I had know that I didn't need that by-pass earlier! I have a speed sensor wire (pink) coming out of the plug on the back of my DNX997xr. It has a resistor, cap, or diode (IDK what it is), and the say not to cut the wire. Could I shorten this wire and solder that "resistor" closer up to the plug without causing a problem? Because of limited room behind the HU I'm doing everything I can to minimize what I stuff behind it. Thanks!

    so does grounding the park green wire permanently to a pioneer work as well? i understand how it is wired but the pioneer says it needs on off on.. so does a constant negative signal to the park wire on a pioneer work as well.. ? thanks

    omg, You sir, are amazing! I just bought a DMX1037S that didnt have the factory harness. I bought a aftermarket harness, but the wire colors did not match in some instances, and I had an additional brown wire. Which was very very very frustrating. This was exactly what I needed to know, a proper pinout of each pin on the harness.

  • @joshuacole659

    For everyone asking about the bypass and why it isn’t working for you..the kenwoods now need to see a pulse from the e brake for the bypass which means a constant ground out like he is showing here will not work..my solution was simply wire it to a on off 2 pole switch …1 side to ground on the vehicle and the other to the ebrake wire from the head unit..flipping the switch on and off will trick the head unit into thinking ur pulling the e brake with every on off flip u do because the e brake is literally just providing a closed signal (grounded input) they also sell a 12v signal wire solution but I couldn’t find it so I did the switch.
    Cheers! Good luck

    Certainly the best video that I've found on this subject. My Kenwood DNX570HD has the small connector - but there is no pale green wire anywhere else on the radio. Inserting a DVD warns that the Parking Brake is not applied - so it's looking for a signal. Does anyone know where I should be looking. Every internet search seems to assume that it's there and obvious. Mny Tkx

    Hello. I’m having a problem with the new KENWOOD 709s double din I’m installing. I’m using a Sony s400d small amp. Everything works fine with my single din pioneer headunit but when I hook up the kenwood the exact same way the pioneer is hooked up I get no sound. Almost like the preouts are turned off. But you can’t turn them on or off. The kenwood powers up and works fine. Just no sound comes out of the speakers. I was using the same ground and power from the amp though. Not sure if something screwed up the headunit or not but again. No sound. Hooked up the pioneer the exact same way and sound comes out great. Is there something I’m missing here or do I have a faulty kenwood?

    You guys do great videos, I have watched this one about 4 times, and the other wiring video, but I am currently going back into my dash to look at some incomplete install issues from last time. I have the Kenwood Excelon DDX9904S and PAC RP4-MZ11 Wiring Interface. My lights do not dim at night, and I am a little confused since I have just ran my wiring for the subwoofer and backup camera where I connect the wires. Do I take the illumination wires to the PAC unit or directly, from the stereo. I know thaat sounds confusing, but I noticed the + and - illumination wires from the PAC unit when going back to add to my install. Ill see what vids you might have on PAC unit wiring in the meantime. Great Job guys. The vehicle is a Mazda CX-7 with the Bose system.

      There is an Orange/white wire on both the PAC harness and the Kenwood, connect them to each other. That should din the radio when the lights are on. The KENWOOD’s Purple/white will go to the PAC harness reverse out put( it may be Green check the instructions). Connect the power for the camera to the Red accessory power. The PAC harness may need a relay on the accessory if it does not have one from the factory.

    Question. When you do the bypass for the PRK SW wire, does that make it to where I can watch a movie while I’m driving rather than wiring a switch under the steering wheel?

    You didn't explain the green brake wire on the larger harness.. you said you'd come back to it. Can you please provide some comments on the green brake wire? DO I need to buys the MicroBypass Parking Brake Override Bypass for Kenwood from Amazon?

    Hi, I have this DDX9903s not installed yet and like you say in the video it is not necessary to use microchip MICROBYPASS PARKING BRAKE OVERRIDE BYPASS sold on ebay. I have also a Pioneer AVH 8500BHS installed in my Audi which I have to use this microchip microbypass to see my videos and DVD.

    Great video except one thing... focus. Learn to turn that auto-focus off, then set your focus manually for each shot. It makes for a better production and so your viewers can see what you are doing... because you are doing some amazing instructions that I don’t normally.

    The wiring harness for my car (PAC RP4-MZ11) has a VSS wire. Is this used for a Kenwood DDX9903S?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

      Nope that wire is rarely used any more, most navigation system do not need it.

    Does this work for the jvc counterparts of the kenwood stereos? I have a jvc kw-v840bt. Hooking it up per instructions has the video disabled when in gear, which defeats the purpose of why I bought the unit(for kids to watch movie while on the highway for vacation, etc)

    Like, question for ya? If u have multiple amplifiers do you run 1 remote blue wire, then split or split from beginning depending on how many amps you have?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do both depending on where the amps are getting mounted. Either way works and is ok.

    This seems a little common sense, but just to be sure;
    For my DDX9903S harness side, I spliced/soldered/heatshrinked the parking brake (light green) and ground (black) wires together just like you showed (1:45). On my '12 Chevy Colorado harness side, it ALSO has a light green parking brake wire and black ground, so I just twisted those together before butt splicing it into the DDX9903S ground wire. Is that okay, or is it going to send too much electricity somewhere when I use my parking brake?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      seanautube on the truck side do not connect the ground and break wire together. Just on the radio side. I could cause issues with the smart harness or truck. Just connect radio side like in the video

      The ring terminal makes a solid connection. Just screwing the bare wires to a screw can cause the wire to unstrand.

    I just had a Kenwood DMX9707S installed at Bestbuy on Saturday....I couldn't get screen mirroring to work and it said parking off....When I pulled the radio out I cut, put an O ring and grounded it to the radio chassis itself like I saw in a different video....Thing is It was crimped together with a different color of green wire that I think comes from the steering wheel controls....I just taped that one and it did not work....Anyone know what to do ???? Radio now says there is any error in the wiring....Thank you
