Even after eight years, this is by far the best video on fixing this situation.
Just did this with my Pioneer. The Radio shop was wanting 60$+ for the kit and I spent just around 5$ Thank you kindly for the video time well spent and pointless money avoided!
I've installed a lot of aftermarket stereos in my kids cars. I've gotta tell you. I have no intention of bypassing the parking brake for video, but you have made an amazing video, with excellent explanations of how the relays work, etc. You even explain the proper way to crimp wires. I have picked up three or four gems in this video. I see that this video was made 11 years ago. I wish that I would have seen it back then. I hope you are well and prospering. You are a talented teacher, and I appreciate you. Thanks brother!
You have no idea how much I appreciate you showing us this. Thank you a lot!
Most useful youtube video I've seen in ages! Good work.
Dennis Leary just taught us how to bypass the brake! How cool is that!!??
Thank you for this! I was going nuts looking for a wire coming off my ebrake and couldn't see anything! With all the screws on the head unit, this was an easy fix. Thank you!
The fact that you broke out a power probe 1 tells me you've been at this abit and you actually know what you're up too, you've got my subscription
Thanks so much!!! I thought I hooked my radio up wrong because all it said was audio only when DVD played. So I took the green wire and put it under a bolt underneath my dash and now it works great!!!!!
Very helpful video...took less then five minutes..my girl doubted me and you lol she feels bad now👍👍👍
@@raymondpaddock423 amplifier wire
Thank You!!! Worked in my JVC perfectly. I have the head unit hooked up to the overhead monitor, now passengers can watch going down the road.
+dagkirk welcome my man!
Lessco Electronics can i do this with a factory head unit
no, those are different
Lessco Electronics I tried this method on a Dual XDVD256BT and it didn’t work. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it working
Eddie Tolliver Sr I just order the same dual stereo. did you figure out the bypass?
I just installed a version of this product and thanks to you the bypass worked without missing a beat. Thanks.
Thanks a lot brotha. I was kinda mad that I couldn't get that feature on my radio and entertain my daughter in my truck. That was the whole reason why I bought it. You made my day. Thanks and great tutorial! Gracias!
So many internets to this man for that immediate Pioneer warning. My man!
I like this guy. Honest and straight forward.
I have been watching the bypass vid's for the past 3 hrs, going crazy trying to figure them out, until I found your's very good detail.........thanks
running the wire to ground worked perfectly in my 2000 ranger. Thanks for posting this
All I have to say!!!! Extremely clear . Very accurate and extremely fucking smart !!!! Thank u so much
great tutorial. Thanks. can you wire the ground into to the ground coming out of the stereo back or is it safer to run the relay ground separately and directly to the frame?
dude you'er super cool...i was getting so stressed in trying to verify the location of my parking break wire and with your help in 2 seconds i'm done. Thanks again !!!!
Did this in under 15 minutes. Connected the green wire to ground, and I was watching vintage Hawaii Five-0 right away. Great!
Hey I would like to do this on a Alpine unit but I'll Pines have different color wires which wires I use?
Thanks a lot bro! You saved me time and money. I just mounted the wire to the top of the radio 👍👌
What wire did you mount to the radio.
The green from my radio
Thank u so much, a simple ground with the pb wire worked like a charm. Learn somethin new everyday!
Thank you so very much. I wish more people in the world were like you, it would be a better place. I too like sharing knowledge instead of making a buck out of it. Hope you are doing well.
First, thank you very much for posting this video, it's very informative
However, I do have a question, the standard car relay draws about 120 mA, can the amp on signal from the aftermarket radio handle this current? wouldn't it be better to use a normal relay that draws about 30 mA?
I tied the radio ground and the parking wire together
Doesn't work on all units. It did many years ago, but many don't work that way anymore.
Interesting tip. Thank you, that just upped my pay scale!
Thanks for this, worked like a charm with my Kenwood DDX-371.
You could also use a on/off switch. I have used this on hundreds of headunits and all have worked with the on off switch. Just run the teal wire fro. The relay to one leg on the switch and the other leg of the switch to ground. If the radio requires it to switch after turn on just flip the switch off and back on. But I also see why the relay might be a more appeasing choice seeing that it automatically does this for you. But on the other hand the switch uses less wires
Hey thanks for the video...Please post the link here for the PDF that you were talking about regarding the RELAY. It will be so much useful to me..Thanks
email the request to us. send to: sales@lesscoelectronics.com
Lessco Electronics hello I recently watched a video about bypassing the e break feature for a double din DVD head unit. in this video a PDF about relay uses was mentioned. please send me the link for this PDF. thank you and looking forward to more videos.

hea bro, I just bought the new Pioneer AVH-X64500DVD. I installed it and could not for the life of me figure out how to get my DVD to play. I watched your video, i went back outside and grounded the parking lot wire from the deck to a good solid ground and Viola!!! It works, thanks man you are the best and i just subscribed to your channel
Awesome video, extremely informative! Helped me out a bunch. Now to learn more about relays :)
Just ground the designated stereo wire, it has worked on every head units I have done.
sadly some newer ones are getting smart, and gets the speed signal from the GPS... if it's moving but the parking brake wire is grounded, it still won't show the video and will say "parking brake signal incorrectly attached" and won't let this bypass method work.
in this case, you'd have to do some research and find a workaround for it. mine? I had to click "off" and hold a certain spot on the screen for like 5-10 seconds... then got a message saying "set on"... now I can watch movies and mess with navigation settings and such, all with the parking wire cut and not attached to any ground at all.
hi James
I got KIA CADENZA 2015 and would like to ask you some question regarding bypassing the DVD since its getting the speed from the GPS. Would you please contact me on Essatop16@hotmail.com
Mohammed Al Essa aa
Ground the parking brake wire, worked 4 me.
charleskro1 what about factory radio with nav and dvd.
Loved your video, verry helpful. Can you send me the pdf relay info please. Thank you.
please email your request to sales@lesscoelectronics.com
Please send me the pdf.
@@Naidop17 to where?
Hey
Will you send me the pdf relay info? kmcconnell8782@gmail.com
This is a great video. Thanks! I was lucky enough to be able to go directly to ground on the radio chassis and it worked!
I remember that movie from when I was a kid...ah memories. Great vid too
Can a person just attach the green ground wire onto the frame of the car and avoid the extra plugs and all?
makes sense to me
+Johny John yes, i did that for my eclipse unit
+Johny John yes you can , I am doing it for many years in my business .. www.hameedauto.com.au
You used to, but Pioneer made it to where you have to ground, disconnect, and reground. The relay sends that signal to trick it.
can you please send me the relay link

thank you, your a legend. you just saved me a lot of time.
This was exactly what I needed you saved me $$$ Thanks!
Pretty damn nice i must say lol
I'd like to get the pdf link
Ill be happy to , email the request to sales@lesscoelectronics.com
thank you I was to fast I ordered the bypass $20. But you saved me for the next one
Got lucky on mine was able to ground directly to radio as you did in beginning so added a small ring terminal pulled screw out back put back in with wire connected so now my dvd works keep up the videos they are helpful
Dude you can just ground it to the ground wire and use a toggle switch
mario alvarez that's what I'm using but forget the switch sometimes
mario alvare
mario alvarez you don’t even need a toggle switch, just connect it to the ground and leave it
I was going to ask if this would work. For my pioneer I just bought, I can bypass by connecting the green wire to my ground wire only AFTER the connection is made after the unit is on (the car is started). If the green wire is already connected to ground and then I start up my car (and head unit powers on), it will display a message stating that I need to make sure my parking brake is applied. Its only when I part the connection and reconnect will it trigger and bypass. So, I was thinking about using a toggle switch so after I turn the car on, I can toggle on and trigger a connection between the green wire and ground.
I did that on my Pioneer AVH5600 and it worked fine. I will try the same on an Alpine unit I ordered. I think it'll work just fine.
why add a relay when I can just attach the wire to ground?
some radios actually need a rellay come of them dont work whit only ground
im glad you watched the video lol
Dennis San Diego C
Because that only works on stereos that only care if it's grounded. Some are looking for a signal.
New alpine need relay won't work once you turn off the key if hooked to ground only
Awesome mate, did this on pioneer sph da250dab, didn't allow me to do most of things because it was thinking I was driving, worked perfectly grounded to it.
Big Thanks!! Saved me $20 and 2 weeks in the post. First method works using Sony XAV-65.
Great video. This is exactly what I was looking for 👍🏾
Man this is old but came on here just to say damn thank you, i grounded it to the reciever and boom.video. thanx
Hi absolutely perfect just put this relay onto my pioneer avhx3500 dab and worked straight away thanks again
My alpine had to have a positive signal than a negative signal but I apreciate you putting this out their instead of trying to sell me something, especially since u r a car audio seller
Thanks, this worlked really well on my '08 Nissan Rogue with a Boss BE7ACP-FT.
Thank you so much for this video it really helped me alot and saved $114 on harnesses thats not needed.. Thank you again God bless
Thanks so much for this video! Got my system working perfectly now.
Thanks for the video again connected my fourth vehicle with a double DIN using a relay switch major go major major go!!!
2020 still dropping knowledge thank you
Learned so much in a little bit thanks man!
Thank You for saving me a ton of headache!
Thank you! used a relay, connected blue remote to 85. 86, 87 and 87A to ground and then 30 to green wire.
I did this to my Kenwood DDX719 today :) Thanks!
Wow I always did wanted to know how to work them relay thankz very helpful
DUDE!!!!
Thanks so much for this video!
Great tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to help us out.
I have a Pioneer AVH-X2650BT and it worked perfectly. Thank you
Thank you, bought a relais 3 euro. installed it according to your video in my mitsubishi outlander with clarion NX501 factory installed. I had to disconnect the green wire and the rest all according to your video.
Thank you! I'm sure you just saved me a bundle!!
i just grounded the brown cable on the back of my Concept T-HN70CV an it is now working . thanks a lot
great vid man! I like your frame of mind! deff on the level! NO hackin my car! thanks
Great video. Thanks. Now I'll wait for the how to PDF on relays.
I took your excellent advice and tested the "grounding to radio chassis" before buying a bypass and even though you said Pioneer units require a pin swap my 2015 AVH-x3700BHS works flawlessly. thanks for the info!
thanks soooooo much i got a sony xav-601bt and the green wire thing worked cheers
Thanks Dude! I was one of the lucky ones that just needed to ground the green wire...but nice tutorial
positive on 86 worked for me, thanks for putting this info up
Thanks you so much. Did this to my Kenwood DNX570 and it works every time. I can hear it click as the HU is powering up. Now to keep my eyes on the road instead of the movie. :) Thanks again. 'Merica
dudeeeee !! your tutorial rock!, it works!!! i try in my new kenwood ddx749 wiring directly to the chasis of the device and... tada!! my tv receptor works!
Thank you so much for this, I especially liked the jumper idea. I thought i could only play dvds on my Pioneer 4600bt with the emergency brake on. I only had black wiring in my garage so I used green and blue heat shrink on the tips to differentiate between the amp turn on and e-brake leads. Just a note for everyone, buy these relays online because locally at auto zone and oreilly they are ridiculous.
i have a kenwood ddx373bt and its work just ground the wire to the chassis thanks for the info very helpful
this is a good video on the bypass. i tried to ground the wire to the dvd frame but didnt work so i just stuck the parking wire in the antenna adapter and it works just fine
great and simple video with step by step install you should do more so people understand
Nice video, I just connect the parking wire to players ground and use that relay to drive the remote wire to pre amp, 4ch amp and sub amp. Very useful.
Thanks, was thinking of finding a running circuit and hooking to that ground but this brilliant.
Extremely helpful video! Thanks!!!
Thank you sir you saved me time and possibly cash. Salute to you sir. If I knew you I would buy ya a beer
Great fix. $3.93 relay and free one day delivery for me from Amazon. Thanks for posting
Great video. It worked perfectly 🤜🏽🤛🏽
I just grounded the brake wire to my stereo unit and it worked took me 5 mins to pull out the stereo, ground the wire to the unit and put the stereo back in, thanks for the video Awesome!
;I
Nice trick. I was going to wire to chassis, but like you said Alpine made it tricky because DVD player will know that a ground wire is already grounded and It wont work. I have a bunch of those relays in my tool box, very handy things.
Wish I saw this video before I bought my bypass. Could have saved twenty bucks. Great info!
Thank you So Much ,For Your Real Nice Specific Video, God bless you
Thx very much ur vid rocks. Lots of help😊
Bout dam time we have someone that thinks like i do. Great info. I refuse to buy a 15 dollar part that is a waste of money. Thank you for clarity of information.
Love Your Videos! learned a lot. Question...I installed a sony xav601bt in my tacoma and grounded my parking wire to bypass the safe driving function. This wire is the same wire needed for my backup camera how can i run my camera and bypass the parking brake?
Thank you. Bless you for sharing your knowledge. You just saved me time and money.
:)
Thank you! This worked like a charm on my Kenwood DNX6990HD. Subscribed.
Thanks man, you solved my problem!!
Wire ground finish
THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about the caps but I was ready to spent the money on the bs-moneymaking item and instead you learned me, with the minimal electrical skill I have, that I can actually do the exact same thing.
Again, thanks very much.
Excellent Video. Really appreciate the time and effort. Thank you very much for such an informative video. Cheers!
Fantastic thanks. touched the cable to the head unit and it worked. Saved me a few quid and lots of time :)
Yea then turn the car off and back on it won't work
Cool vid, good to know stuff, and love that u help out people... Keep up the good work
