- On days 58, 59, and 60 of my journey walking from the UK to Vietnam, I cross the border into Austria and face some wild, unforgettable moments. From waking up to something lurking outside my tent (pretty sure it was a bear!) to trekking through Austria’s first snowfall, this stretch has tested my endurance like never before. I even had a surprise meetup with some fans at a random bus stop-proof that this journey is connecting people in unexpected ways! Join me as I push through new challenges, beautiful landscapes, and the incredible support along the way. Don’t miss out-subscribe to see what’s next!
In this video i talk about the 3 route options i currently have.

Advise from an old trekker [been hiking since the late 1970s]
The route is yours to define just like life. No matter what you do or accomplish someone will have an opinion. Get the boat to Indian and don't "make the miles up, make the journey up and enjoy it. Whatever you achieve, it's the journey and the people that you meet.
What you are doing is fantastic. You dont have to justify everything - not even to yourself! And certainly not others.
Keep safe and stay happy
Thank you for your kind words bro. As the trip is going on, I am realising this too. What would you say your favourite hike location is? I would love to try it one day
Thanks
Thank you legend ❤
Man, this is so inspirational. Nil desperandum...and never forget that the pain and struggle will pass.....but all that magical and irreplaceable feeling that you will experience (and only you will experience) when you complete this most grand venture, will be priceless and timeless. It will echo through eternity and through the stories passed on by all the beautiful people you shared time with along the way. Boss level completed.
Take care of your body and mind and know when to rest. Progress, not perfection.
I am wild camping on Dartmoor this weekend oi oi
Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground!
Laters potatoes
I'm loving this! 🙌
Taking a train and coming is not cheating as long as you stay safe!
Vertical, horizontal, it does not matter. I sometimes keep the phone somewhere near me and do some things in the house. And look at it from time to time. It's not like all of us are watching on a big screen tv all the time
Hello, just to see the trip even in portrait would be good 🙂
Ha ha 😂 i thought you had been mugged of your rucksack glad to see the reason was a lot less complicated than I thought. Doing great so far 👍
Just stumbled acrossed your channel and I have to say it's an amazing and slightly insane goal you've set for yourself 😄 I'll offer a few bits of advice from an experienced thru-hiker....hike your own hike.... it's totally ok to get a bus and go somewhere safe to sleep and rest and then come back and pick up the steps where you left off...nutrition is important, try and get some fresh stuff in your diet as long as you have easy access to supermarkets...trust me, you'll get sick of dried food faster than you'd like...do you have a small stove? makes a world of difference...be careful when you're camping out in the woods, it's technically not legal in most european countries and if a hunter or forest worker comes upon you, you could be in real trouble - try and get out of sight as much as possible :) Keep trucking, you're doing awesome
edit: oh, and maybe think about getting a tiny tripod....will make filming yourself so much easier and you can get them for like a tenner on Amazon
edit2: as for the strange noise.... I'd say it was probably a beaver, the shoreline looks like a perfect place for a beaver habitat
Just came across your channel - you absolute legend !
Honestly don't mind however it's filmed, just nice to follow your journey x
You are amazing..living the dream 😊
Silly comment...its a Nightmare, travelling on foot.
Gets me inspired to start walking
I've circumvented the Himalayas for 1 1/2 years in a camper van, but your mission is absolutely mental. I love the routes. All of them would be insanely interesting to watch. The most realistic and least dependent on the seasons is probably south through Iraq. There will be a lot of nice folks inviting you over, which helps squeeze the budget. You may have some good proper sleep and food in someone's home. This will mentally help a lot I think. On the other hand, if you reach it in summer you probably dry like a raisin. Central asia would be mind blowing with respect to the landscape. Fantastic opportunities to wild camp literally everywhere. But also very lonely and the mountains are rough as hell. None of them will be easy for sure.
Absolutely herooo, mate
Keep going
One is for sure: you can’t go through china and the Himalayan region with a donkey on your own due to some difficult visa rules over there. Maybe in Nepal but not China/ Tibet
You can go from Kathmandu to chengdu, then to Lahsa, go with a group (since you can only travel with a guide and a group through Tibet and also for 15 days) then to the Mount Everest base camp or another guided tour and back to Lahsa and then to Changdu (or another destination connected to Lhasa on the mainland of china) for example Diqin (Shangri-la) and walk from there down to Vietnam.

Glad to hear you’ve got a plan in place for transporting water!
When the time comes I will be in search for the right animal to help me 🙌
was probably a beaver ... they are everywhere in austria, andy this place looks like it would be nice for beaver.. dont forget, beavers gonna beav
Happy to see that u are using your high vis vest now! Good boy❤😂
If you can route via the silk way - kryg, Uzbek, tajik etc. go Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan then China then loads of options
Hey, you should have stopped and talked to the owner of that land rover, whoever it was, they would have been well interested in what you were doing as it looks like they did something similar? Enjoying your journey mate 👍
@@FrolickingPhil I would have done if I seen them :)
yeahhh 💥
Have you tried Merrell shoes? My son did a lot of walking in Scotland in the Leather version, they were amazing for him. Also, another tip...for Feet. Ballet Dancers, who suffer horrible blisters and hv to dance every night...they Use something called "Second Skin" patches, then cover the area with Masking Tape.
Look after your feet. Xxx
I really liked the fresh, warm, still steaming pile of shit. Great find man!
29:46 definitely not in Austria, 31:34 thats Austria
That pizza looks so yumm 🍕 😅
Listen before you go viral
there are no Bears in Upper Austria.
I know because i live there
Do ya now
You could also walk through Georgia and just take a very small flight across the border into Azerbaijan?
I could! I have thought about this. But I really don’t want to take a flight on this journey to progress with any miles
so did u find paw prints on the riverbank ?
If you decide to make it through Saudi Arabia and Jeddah is along in your pathway, I’ll walk with you.. but keep in mind its pretty hot here
@@azizshaban12 it will be in around 4 months from now ✌️🙏
Show us your old shoes before you bin them!
Irak isn't very safe imo, maybe do a route through Greece, and then with the boat to Egypt, and then down to Saudi Arabia etc.
Why don't you rest some more. I think it's important to listen to your body. Sometimes you just need two days rest, or Maybe even 3. I love watching your progress and steps towards that amazing Viejettnaaeem
Re-enacting human migration of our ancestors! How did they build the pyramids? How did they migrate across continents? How did the Vietnamese get there! Making great progess buddy! Keep it up!
Would love to buy you a beer in bangkok
Can you get a new rucksack? It looks so uncomfortable, it's too small, get a bigger one- put ths same stuff in it, just cos it's bigger doesn't mean you have to fill it. It would be the same weight but more comfortable to use. And use a padded rucksack belt so that it takes the weight off the shoulders.
Definitely make a video for Belgium and France! Vertical is better than nothing. Just don't give it weird trippy sidebars that make it unwatchable. Boring black side bars are better than vomit inducing video side bars!
Also, to say, Azerbaijan folks are absolutely Beautiful. Also I wd prefer to walk via Afghanistan than China. You do you. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ps...You need a Toyota Land Cruiser...not a bloody Land Rover. 😂
Hey chubby trekka, how long do you think you will be in the european union for from start to finish ?
Look forward to watching this vid.
Just about 90 days by the time it comes to it
be aware of the austrian Krampus! i think you didnt hear a bear man.. it was the Krampus! 😮
😂😂
many people dont know...but from November till the end of december many krampus are coming out of the woods searching for bad guys 🙈
how much will this entire trip cost you my friend .. if everything goes according to plan
@@ethanj1598 a lot a lot a lot 🥲😂
i missed the inside joke about chickens can i get some context please
@@williamallen6058 every animal I come across I call chicken 😂
alright ?
HELLOOO CHICKEEN
So that's where the name pissoir comes from!!
Ignore the crazies, bots and idiots in the comments, i don't have to point them out.
Keep on trekking and stay safe bro. 🙏 👊
Joined you from insta! I was wondering is it actually possible to walk from the uk to Vietnam? I may sound a bit thick lol but it was my belief the uk is an island with water around it? Or will you get on a ferry or boat?
Extremely unlikely to be a bear, maybe a boar, probably a squirrel, badger, skunk or fox.
Would of been a beaver or otter...every thing sounds loud at night and the sound carries across water..people talking on the other side of the lake...sound like they're next to you
@@mikejames987 that is my guess too. tbh beavers are way bigger up close so I get why in the dark you might mistake it with something way bigger.

Great advice
How do you fund this 😂😂
Listen before u tell me your plan
Yo my donkeys name will be PATROKLO

@@hachimaru295 sometimes haha
Listen before u read other people’s comments lemme let u know that u need to let em know
You cant talk about vending machines selling cbd?? Thats mental.
Yep! Especially on TikTok haha
@Chubbytrekka mars bars are more dangerous mate 😂
They sell CBD for dogs FFS lol
Anyway I've watched since 1st day.. like all my middle aged mates we don't fck with tik tok but you're doing great mofo. Well impressed... Don't scrimp on the TH-cam and I'm sending possie vibes. Ressspec 👊🏼
Film in front of you while walking. Ok, u are cute boy but i’m more interrested in the surroundings 😊😊
Please get a hat
Listen before u make plans
Are you drunk
@@Priest92 he might be 😂
Bro You CANNOT use Transport. The whole point is you're WALKING TO VIETNAM!!
And what about the water, swim it?

Thanks
