Lionel Richie wrote Three Times the Lady to his mom. Kenny covered it. They both have/had very similar compassionate personalities. The two of them with the one armed hug performing this song not too long before Kenny passed is amazing. We all could learn a lesson in that short 5 minutes. 😊

I was so in love with her but I lost my lady a month after kenny died last year to cancer have cried everyday since. She was my everything I would walk through hells fire to have her back true love is gods gift do not abuse it or take it for granted. I tell all the young guys that complain to me about there girls that maybe if they treated her right they would not have a problem. My philosophy was make sure your wife goes to sleep smiling and wake her up with a smile and you both will be happy🥰💯 goodnight I'm going to cry myself to sleep again😭😭😭

His first hit was back in the 60's with a group called "The First Edition". Song was "Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in". Also in the movie The Big Lebowski. The original is available on TH-cam if you look for it. History in the Making. He became famous after that as a Country Singer right up there with Dolly Parton. He passed away March 2020.

Lionel Richie, who wrote the song, had a different version of it originally that he was going to present to Kenny in hopes that Kenny would record it.
Kenny who had been married several times before had just married again. Kenny couldn't stop talking about his new wife. "I can't believe it,' said Kenny. "I married a real lady. Me!"
Lionel didn't show his song to Kenny. Instead he worked on it later and changed the lyrics using Kenny's comments about his wife as inspiration. Lionel then presented the song Lady to Kenny who recorded it.

I was such a little kid when this came out (5-6) but my auntie loved him so much. She was my summer babysitter and she'd play his records (like actual vinyl) all day long. So like I hear this now at age 45 and i'm like thrown back to hot summer's in Texas dancing around as a little one with my Auntie. This is a Eera when PASSION played a huge part in ballads... singing from the heart...feeling it from within and expressing it outwards... many artists from the earlier periods sang and were TRUE PERFORMERS... it was common place... now its totally different and rare to hear anyone sing without autotune... look up the artists of the 60s-80s... there u will awaken to real music, song writing and deliveries that will have you drop to knees in AWWW of what was common place and rarely heard today.... So many and yet also forgotten.

Kenny just died last year. He had a string of hits, a lot of duets and was famous for having affairs with his duet partners. He has one of the most distinctive smokey voices in the vane of Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, and Ray Charles. One of the best singers in country.

I was born in 76 this came out in the 80s I remember I asked for Kennys record and I got then was my favorite and the other record I asked for I got at the time was Michael Jackson thriller record with beat and billie jean I was so happy and at 47 I sill have them on record and play them love that younger generation are listen to great music from my young days I grew up on I listen to all music
