Thanks for doing my request. This is the version I requested. While a studio version may have better sound quality, seeing Kenny sing it live and the way he sang it, it is the best version.
True technically, although the one of him & Lionel together in Las Vegas in 2012 is even more amazing! Mostly for the love & friendship oozing out of both of them. It is a beautiful thing to see. Highly recommend. So cool. This was 1980; seeing them sing it together 32 years later, is priceless.

Great request and enjoyed ya'll's reaction too! The story behind this song is that Lionel wrote this song for the Commodores but they turned it down. Lionel was invited to Las Vegas to meet Kenny and pitch him this song. However, before pitching the song, Kenny was telling Lionel about this wonderful "lady" in his life. Well Lionel initially titled the song as Baby. So when Kenny asked him what the name of the song was, Lionel said Lady. And the rest is history. It became Kenny's biggest hits and he and Lionel became great friends. Blessings to you both!🙏🏻

We lost Kenny Rogers earlier this year, so to get to your channel today and see this one, it brought me happiness and a little sadness that he is gone from this earth. I am 68 years old, and I love seeing the younger generation discover the music I grew up listening to. His voice almost reminds me a little like the Bee Gees, with his falsetto and vibrato and how he can still reach those notes after all these years. Kenny was an amazing artist and collaborated with many people. You need to check out Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton - Islands in the Stream - awesome song. Kenny was a superstar. I was about 10 when this came out and I loved it. This is a magical version of the song. The other version you should watch is Kenny and Lionel Ritchie singing it together at an awards show many years later. It was wonderful.

My wonderful husband of 53 years died last month after a quick battle with cancer. He was an amazing Christian man. It is very up lifting to see a Christian couple in love.

Kenny Rogers was fantastic!! Lionel Ritchie wrote it for Kenny, but Lionel also released his version of it as well. You guys should listen to his version as well. It's such a beautiful song. There is a video of a tribute to Lionel Riche where Kenny Rogers asks Lionel to sing this song with him. It was beautiful to watch them sing it together, for many reasons. You will understand when you watch it. I mostly know Kenny as a country singer, but apparently that was all the label allowed him to do.

Kenny is a country legend with a ton of great songs. My favorite version of this song is when he does it with Lionel Richie in Las Vegas in 2012, a few years before Kenny passed. This video is 1980. Watching these 2 men & the love & friendship between them is a beautiful thing to see. For more songs from Keny, 'Through the years' is a beautiful love song like this, perfect for couples who have been together for a long time. Then he has amazing 'story' type songs, like 'The Gambler', 'Coward of the county' & 'Lucielle' to name a few. He was a GOAT of country with several duets with Dolly Parton, too, like 'Islands in the stream'.
