- How about one of the coolest features ever on a Mercedes? The ability to control the car on the outside is such a head turner with Remote Parking Assist!
As with such sophisticated technology this is sadly only reserved for high-end models of Mercedes but even still, it's such a cool thing to see! And as I mention in the video, it was first introduced into the S-Class...And the S-Class always sets the trend for the following years where tech will then filter down to the other models in Mercedes! So...my fingers are crossed for the future!

This would be amazing for disabled motorists, wheelchair users and those with limited mobility (like myself). Especially when there is a lack of available disabled parking spaces. Love it.

Absolutely loved the dramatic opening segment!
This is a really cool feature. I'm not surprised that it's currently only offered on the S Class. Here in Florida, I use my remote start feature almost daily. Before leaving work yesterday I used the RSF and the app said that it was 163 degrees (Fahrenheit) inside the car. Needless to say, I let it run for the full 10 min cycle so the air cond could cool it down.

Great video Nick. I think I would use this feature daily to put my car into and out of my garage at home. we all know they are made with minimal space so it's ideal for it.
If the parking space was that tight I wouldn’t park a 100k car in it if it was a public car park I value not having my doors scratched or dinted by other drivers, albeit it would be a handy feature to park the car in a tight garage or in a tight space where the public don’t park.
I got ang cla 35 I only wish I had it for camera the sensors make it scary parking cuz they sensitivity can be changed

It's a nice "party piece" but Hyundai has the same thing. My neighbours Santa Fe has this feature and like the remote start it's all controlled from the key fob. No need for a separate app or subscription.
Another great video though. Your series has really helped me understand my new GLC and it's features.
If its in the key then it has very limited options.
Perfect especially for Coupés that tends to have significant wider doors than other models.

I use all the toys. Not necessarily right away, but when I’m comfortable enough with the car I try another gadget, then another and another again and again until I’m comfy with them.

Love it and would definitely use it! Particularly as there are no specific regulations on parking space dimensions other than what is deemed acceptable minimum design standard of 4.8m x 2.4m, so it is and will be extremely useful once all of the s class tech trickles down through the ranges, much like when s class first had automatic wipers and headlights!

In addition to remote parking assist w223 is known to be featured with automated valet parking where the car can basically go find a parking space and park itself. So I was also hoping to see that feature demonstrated😁 but it seems that it is not legal yet. Great video Nick!
No sadly I’ve seen this on videos before in selected car parks in Germany but not available here in the UK. That’s some pretty cool tech though!

Have the 2021 E-class, 360, remote parking and still this is not available
Hey JW, I believe it’s because of the United Nations Regulation that affects park assist systems. Something to do with a hands on / hands off sensor but it could be something else as well, honestly not sure.
@@npoleary Interesting. As this function was available on the E-Class 2017 and now only on the S-Class so far seems more as a strategic decision. If it were regulations then it wouldn't be available on any Mercedes/Tesla etc.. A well great vid's Nick, keep them coming.

Seen this feature before for Eclass year 2017 but it can only move the car back and front. Mine was a 2020 model Eclass but unfortunately in taiwan this feature is not activated. Wherein tight parking spaces here are a lot.
Any MB includes the package auto park assist supposed to include remote park. I don't think more hard ware will be required as it is more related to software. Thanks,
Got to admit, I had planned on making the the move to upgrade to a luxury car. Had my heart set on Audi or BMW, but definitely NOT Mercedes. Ended up ordering what I least expected and now I'm excited to get it in the Spring. I see why it's the more expensive choice. It definitely appears to be worth it.

Really sorry no sadly it was removed from most countries and the vast majority of models in 2020 a couple of years ago. This was due to United Nations Regulations.

In certain markets on the W213 E-Class, this feature was not available, however, the car was technically able to do it. I am in one of those markets. It's good to see that the tech has evolved that you can select your own car park. I don't think I would use it as it's too slow.
Hey Michael, yes I know specs and features vary massively round the world. I’ve even heard some new models still not being offered with sat Nav just because in that particular country, it’s not needed as much.

Sadly I don’t believe so, Mercedes stated it was only available on S-Class at the time. I think it’s now on S-Class, EQS and possibly EQS SUV today.

Ah very nice! Well when I filmed the video, I’m pretty sure that it’s located in HOME, VEHICLE, ASSISTANCE and then PARKING (or something similar). It’s in the same menu as adjusting the parking sensors and it’ll be listed as REMOTE PARKING if you have it.
Will this work for putting the car in the garage. It’s a really tight space and I have difficulty getting in and out of the car when it’s in the garage. Looking to buy a new E class next year and this would be fab if it works.

Cheers Nick it’s a good party trick to have with all the benefits. However, I’d avoid those tight parking areas cause ya don’t want to come back and see ya nice car with a deep scratch line from the front to the back thanks to some toe rag running their shopping trolly up the side of ya car, and being a black car God what a mess. Steam would be exhausting out of your ears if ya came back to see that. Especially if ya saw ya mate and said hey come and see this trick!
Is this available in the US market? I use to demonstrate this when I worked at a Kia dealer. I am unable to show people Mercedes Me connect features until they have already purchased and by then they are exhausted and want to go home.

Quick question not related. I just got my GLC Plugin Hybrid and, it was supposed to have the self-parking feature but, it doesn't seem to work. I read somewhere that it should still be on the car but, it's deactivated due to some new regulations is that true?

Sadly it is no longer available on most Mercedes-Benz models. There was a UN-R 79 regulation that was released early last year indicating that cars have to have a hands on and hands off sensor to have a system like this.
I’m sure Mercedes are working on this for future models in years to come though!

No sadly it’s not allowed in certain countries anymore :(
I don’t believe it can, but best to ask Mercedes to be sure.
Certain cars can have it it just depends on the tech used and hands on and hands off sensors etc

I think it was under Settings, Assistance, Parking, if you have Remote Park Assist it’ll be in there.
You can also check on Mercedes me too under the Mercedes me Store 👍🏼
What years is this feature available on…? I have a 2018 E400 coupe and I’ve been trying to find this feature in the settings and can’t or just don’t see it… I’m guessing my car isn’t equipped with this feature…

Hello Nick, its me again,question: is there possibility to use 360- feature on c-class 2023 to park backwards car in a wide house garage?
If your car has a 360° camera then it would just come on automatically however the tech shown in this video is unique to only a couple of models in Mercedes and it uses ultrasound and a very accurate GPS I believe.

Not sure it’ll work with a garage, Mercedes only use parking sensors for that feature so its ideal placement is in between two big objects like cars. I’ve made and produced a total of 4 park assist videos over the past few years.

Nick, I can't find the Mercedes remote parking pilot app on Google play store. I have a w213 with all the needed features for remote parking including (COMAND Online / Audio 20, Parking Package with 360° camera, KEYLESS-GO, and Remote Parking Package / pre-installation for Remote Parking Assist), but I can't find the app to be able to pair up to my car. Where can I get the app for my Android phone?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
The only one I can see on the Play Store is this one: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daimler.ris.remoteparking.ece.android
But on the Apple App Store there are two so I’m only guessing that the previous version is only compatible with iPhones only. I seem to recall reading about this in a news article years ago that it was something to do with compatibility regarding most Androids and their Wi-Fi & Bluetooth or something.

@Nick O'Leary ok, I see. This app does work on Androids Bur it just doesn't work on my device. Which is strange because the more details section states it works on Androids 11 or higher, and NY Android has Android 13 on it. 🤷♂️

@@npoleary Yeah, I was at my Mercedes Dealership today and they were telling me that they hear about the remote app, BUT they didn't know how or why it wasn't available here, where I live.
Would it be possible for you to download the APK app for the Remote Parking Pilot, since you live in an area where you can get it and maybe setup a Google shared folder or an FTP server so I could download that APK file and install it on my phone?
I tried going to Google Play store hosted in Germany AND I even tried using a VPN service to try to make my phone look like it was in another country like England and Germany, But when I open Google play store, the app still shows that it's "not available for my device". So I'm not able to download the APK file from where I am.
This feature is great. I wish the EQC we bought in Dec 2020 had any sort of Parking Assist, which I paid for. I don't understand why this car (in the video) can be allowed to have this feature, but a UN directive removed this sort of feature from other cars

S-Class’s have more advanced Driver Assistance Systems because of this

There are a couple of Mercedes models that can do remote parking like in this video
Sadly no summon feature, that’s just Tesla in certain countries and certain states round the world

Id just use it to show off. In reality, if you cant open the doors to a moderate degree in a car parking space, then you probably should avoid parking there, unless you fancy scrapes and scuffs from adjacently parked cars.
The biggest problem for owners of any nice (premium) car or in fact any car is not getting in and out of the car. It’s actually the rampant obesity problem in the UK. Watch any car park and see the “larger” people bang their cars against your door, maybe not intentionally (though how they don’t know they’ve done it is beyond me) and leave a nice ding on your pristine Mercedes (or whatever). I now would rather walk 500m in a supermarket car park to have no other cars around me then have my car used as a stability aid by “gravitationally challenged” people.
Once the valet park is enabled, I’d definitely use that. Remote parking sets you up for £1000 plus bills to get the dings knocked out. Cars have increased in size dramatically as people get bigger. Car parking spaces haven’t really changed. If you can’t park away from the careless with your car body and their own, try to find new(ish) premium cars to park next to or opt for the security urban guard.

I haven’t seen it on GLE before but it’ll vary round the world so double check with Mercedes and they can let you know 🤓

S-Class models are Mercedes-Benz’s best, they’ll throw everything at it to make their flagship model. So it’ll always have the latest tech that you can get 👍🏼
But…doesn’t mean you need to use it all, just use what you want to use.

Thought I was getting this on my e class, had all the necessary packs and it was noted as a feature in the brochure… nope! ‘Not available in the UK’ was the response from the MB garage rep as he shrugged his shoulders… not so great!
Hey Matthew, it does vary from model to model. The brochures will always indicate what spec is on the car from the production date at the start. This can change over time but it is available on the UK. Just a couple of models with very specific specification (I’ve popped details in the description of the video) 🤓
Hi Nick, thanks for the response. My car is a Prem Plus, has 360 cameras etc. There was no option to pick the remote parking package at purchase. It was meant to be something you could purchase afterwards although the brochure didn’t make it clear. My car was delivered March 20 so it was my understanding it could use the remote parking. Frustrating really and both the broker and MB weren’t much help…
It was on the last generation of the e class and I don’t know why they’ve removed it from the current generation. Just doesn’t make sense
Hey Bazooka Joe, I believe it was down to some requirements from the United Nations Regulations that stated a hands on and hands off sensor is needed for active park assist systems in the steering wheel.
It could be something else but not too sure.
It’s a great feature but alas there’s those drivers who’ll park cars on both sides of your shinny new Mercedes Probably too close and bang ur bodywork as they open their doors and squeeze by ur car.
