      Jayze, I know! That's why I started making videos. For years I wanted to share a few of the automotive mods that I have done to my cars. Then one day I was looking for information . . . information that should have been in the videos I was watching, and it was not. I attempt to produce videos with as much information and detail as possible.
      I appreciate the feedback! - Stiles

      Thanks for the video, it helped cement my decision to buy one....The North Face outlet store near me had it for 50% off so a no-brainer with that discount, and an even better deal when they added the Military discount on top of it. South of $200 including taxes beats the cheap tents at Costco/Sam's Club, Etc.

    Thank you for this video! I have the tent, used it last year and loved it. After putting it away at the end of the season, I realized I'd forgotten to measure the length of the vestibule and I needed that to figure out the overall length and width of the whole tent + vestibule setup. You gave me the answer I needed to plan which smaller campsites I can squeeze into this coming season. Much appreciated!

      Lars, You are very welcome! I know a guy that uses a big 6 person Tent for Motorcycle Camping, I don't know about Biking, it is a big heavy Tent for that. But, if you are sharing the load with other Bikers, it is probably do-able. And, yes the Vestibule would fit several Bikes. - Stiles

      @@StilesAutomotive Hm, well, according to the product page, the packed weight is ~20 pounds, and my trailer's rated capacity is 100 lbs (Burley Nomad). I usually tour with a load of about 50-60 lbs, (incl. a 4P Marmot tent) so the Wawona would be no problem. I'd just have to trim a little here and there...less beer, smaller TV, that sort of thing. heh Thanks again for a great review!

    Thanks a lot for your review! I'm curious about the color of the mesh. It looks very yellow in pictures and videos. When you're in the tent and looking up out of the mesh, say, at the sky, does it make everything outside look yellow or is it more clear? I'm wondering if it's just the camera that's picking up a lot of color making it look more yellow than it is. Thanks!

    Do you know if it's possible to add a second vestibule on the Wawona 6p tent?

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Anon, Wow, its true then, great minds think alike. The same thought occurred to me. I think, but have not verified: 1) a second Vestibule (the same 6P Vestibule) may work 180 degrees out from the original Vestibule using 550 cord to help anchor the tiedown points. However, the second Vestibule would likely bunch up over the Main Tent Door area. and 2) I believe a 2nd Vestibule could easily be taken apart and sewn to the original Vestibule to make a double Vestibule. (I can sew but not that good). 3) You would also have to figure out the Pole area over the Main Tent Door you may need another Pole to give the 2nd Vestibule shape.
      Let me know if you try it, and how it goes! - Stiles

    Thanks for the video, it's very helpful. This tent looks great, but I'm hesitating because it appears that the front door is mesh-only, without a solid panel that can also zip up. It seems to me that this would make the inside of the tent much colder when it dips below 55 or so outside. Any thoughts on this as an issue?

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel, Yes, I believe you are correct. I'm use to Military Tents that are more robust. Tents that you can close everything up. The Wawona is a 3 Season Tent, but like you say, is very open. Yes, the Vestibule (Main) Door end is mesh and open. And the Side Windows are mesh, open and large, but covered by the Rain Fly, they don't have a second layer that closes. The large amount of mesh is great for summer camping! The Wawona does great in the rain, I also did a video talking about this (link below). We still love this Tent and enjoy it! I love to know what you decide and I appreciate the feedback! - Stiles

      @@StilesAutomotive There is no perfect ideal tent. Doesn't exist. It's all a function of pro-cons, tradeoffs, learning what you can accept. Ideally, maybe owning several tents would prove best for many. Then you could select the best one based on conditions and season.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Walle, Maybe . . . I suspect it would be tight. In the video I verify the North Face dimensions: 85 sq ft of floor space, 45 sq ft of vestibule space, and 8 feet (2.44 m) wide x 9 foot 6 inches (114”)(2.9 m) long x 6 foot 6 inches tall. To get a "6 Person" Tent, North Face puts 5 people in the row and the 6th person along the Mesh Door. I believe this and other Tents are designed for People in Sleeping Bags, not on Cots. I normally put the Wawona 6P up by myself (others are not available), if you have 4 people, that should give you a helper or 2. I would think you would enjoy the 8P more, if weight and set up is not an issue. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

      Tom, That is not a pole, that is a Black Strap, because the Vestibule does not have a Floor, North Face added a strap that runs from the Vestibule Tent Stay to Tent Stay to help make the bottom of the Vestibule Pole more stable. (1) Without rainfly coverage of the rear door, does water drip into the tent (residual moisture from rain or morning dew) when unzipping it since the top of the door is angled toward the inside of the tent relative to the bottom? I had an old tent with the same design and I each morning when I opened the door, water would drip into the tent when I unzipped the door. Or, practically speaking, maybe the back door is not actually used day-to-day since there is a large front door with the vestibule.
    (2) The rainfly appears to extend just a few inches beyond the mesh windows on the ides (rather than extending to the bottom of the tent). Have you had any issues with water intrusion during strong storms? Curious if wind-driven rain makes its way up under the rainfly edge and through the mesh into the tent.
    Thanks again for taking the time to make the video and hope you are enjoying the tent!

      Steve, I don't do this for just anyone, but I attempted to answer your questions with a video that I had considered making many months ago. This video is for you - -
      North Face Wawona 6P Six Person Tent, Hard Rain Performance th-cam.com/video/lOYZ1e_llvQ/w-d-xo.html
      But to also answer your questions here:
      1) Yes, I think the rear Door will let rain, dew and other condensation that is above the Door, into the tent when you open it.
      2) No, it hasn't for me. In the video I show a Hard Rain with no wind, I did use the tent with a light rain and windy. No, moisture entered the tent.
      Like I stated in the video, I did leave the tent un-attended with the Side Rainfly Windows open in a Hard Rain like shown in the video, Don't Do It! The Tent gets wet inside and the Floor Holds water very well!
      I appreciate the positive comments - Stiles

      Thanks for the video - that was really nice of you to do! There's nothing like seeing the tent in action during a good rain and it certainly answers my questions. My wife and I lived and camped in FL for about 8 years so can relate to the daily storms in the rainy season.
      One observation that may be a deal-breaker for me is the odd window design and would like to hear how your experience has been so far. All the tents I've owned have the door screen on the outside and rain cover on the inside so you can simply/quickly zip it open or closed in the middle of the night to adjust ventilation or close if it starts raining. The rear door screen on this tent is the opposite such that you would need to either (1) go outside to close the cover or (2) stay inside but first open the screen to then close the rain cover. I live in an area with plenty of mosquitoes/bugs so not a fan having to open the screen to get to the cover as I'd get a swarm in the tent in a heartbeat! Wondering how you manage that as I assume you also have plenty of mosquitoes/no-see-ums, etc. I'm liking everything about the Wawona except this odd screen door which seems like a design flaw. Thanks and appreciate your insight/experience with this!
