My Basecamp 6 has been with me about 6 years and has been all over Texas to NM, CO, and UT. Freaking love it but time for a new one. More than once I’ve had to run out in the middle of the night to quickly throw the rain fly on before storms hit. The extra work for the Wawona rain fly makes me nervous. But I think I’m still gonna end up going w it. Keeping the Basecamp since it’s still good. One door zipper is jammed and that the only trouble I’ve had with it after all these years.
Thank you, Liz, for another great comparison video, and for helping me decide between the two back in May before this video was ready! I did my first trip with my new Wawona 6 in June, and I loved it! I do wish that it had the Base Camp’s storage pockets and option to open and close vents and windows from inside, but the ventilation, incredible weather resistance, and absolutely amazing vestibule more than make up for it. The vestibule is exactly what I needed to make camping work better for me.
Hi again Amy!! Thank you so much for your constant support and comments on the channel, it really means a lot to me! 🥰 And oooh I was wondering about your experience with the Wawona. (Oops I asked about it in the previous comment, feel free to ignore that part of the comment hahaha) I'm really happy that you loved the Wawona!! Yay!! Hopefully TNF makes the necessary adjustments to especially the vents and windows next time 😂 But I'm glad the vestibule is working out for you! At least you no longer have to hunch over in it like in your Nemo. 😊 Is the footprint of the Wawona okay for you? Is it a little too big by any chance? I remember you asking for the dimensions last time 😊
@@CampingGuidance Thanks so much, Liz! Yes, what a huge relief after the rainy entry experience in the Nemo! The Wawona is such a dream to get in and out of! So far so good with the overall footprint, too. Wow, you really go above and beyond to remember that! Thank you for doing this. I watched a few comparison videos of yours and I'm trying to choose a good tent for myself. I'm using a Teton Outfitters XXL Cot and need a big tent for it to fit in. It's huge. I was trying to decide between these two tents. Your timing of this video was impeccable. I used one of your affiliate links and ordered the Wawona 6. Thanks again.

I saw the order come in, and I really really appreciate it 🥰 I'll definitely put it to good use buying more gear to test for this channel 😉 And wow I'm glad that this video was useful for you! I wasn't sure whether anyone would watch it honestly, but I just decided to publish it anyway. Glad that it helped! 😊 Let me know how the Wawona goes for you! I'd love to hear about it! 😊
I ended up going with the W6 last year when I was looking for a car camping trip. I ended up choosing the W6 over the BC6 because of the peak height (I’m 6ft) so I could fully stand up inside my tent and the huge vestibule area.
Hey DJ! I'm glad you ended up going with the W6! It definitely has a lot more livable space than the BC especially in the vestibule. Great choice 😁 And thank you so much for sharing! 🥰
I just have to add I appreciate your attention to detail, you addressed the salient issues that so many reviewers overlook. I worried about the lack of a full coverage rainfly on the Wawona ....and you addressed that issue very well thank you. :-)

Hi Cree! Thanks for the input and yes you're definitely right! I still can't figure out why they did it that way but I hope they change it next time in the future. Fingers crossed! 😊
When putting the rain fly on the wawona, start with the two toggle clasps on the back of the tent, and then you can swing the rest of it over the top easily. Saves a bunch of time!
Hey there, very nice review! I'm looking at these 2 tents, along with the Eureka El Capitan, and the NEMO Hi Rise, all in 4 Person configurations. I hope you have a good one! 👍 🤠 🇺🇲
