- Taken from "Live Without a Net", the live concert video of Van Halen recorded in New Haven, Connecticut, and released on November 24, 1986. It was of their performance on August 17, 1986 at New Haven's Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The concerts were part of the 5150 Tour, supporting the album of the same name, Van Halen's first with lead singer Sammy Hagar.
The performance of "Best of Both Worlds", which included a portion of Robert Palmer's hit "Addicted to Love" was aired during the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, but the Palmer section was edited out of the home video release. - บันเทิง
I don't care what anyone says Hagar was and still is a BEAST! Loved seeing Sammy and Eddie together!
Love this ❤😍
Great combo
I agree...Sammy seems time and time again proven to be a genuine good person on top of a good singer.
@@chadcharles5184I know you're Right 👍
I wish I could go back in Time.
They sounded so incredible on the 5150 tour. So tight and energetic. Sammy’s voice was untouchable, Ed was lighting it up as usual and Michael never got enough credit for his amazing BG vocals. Singing ABOVE Sammy? Come on. I wore out my VHS copy of this concert.
Do your research dude. Sammy gave Michael a TON of credit for his backup vocals and still do to this day. Why do you think Sammy asked Michael to join his new bands? - It's Roth and both the Van Halen bros that treated Michael like garbage
@@GHOSTLYWHISPERS Nice straw man. I never said anything about Sammy. They’re like brothers. Sammy defended Michael when Eddie came down on him. I was speaking historically. He’s the one significant contributor to VH that never got, over time, the credit he deserved (for bass and vocals). Do I research?! I’ve been a die hard VH fan for over forty years. Take your misguided self importance somewhere else shit head.
Yep, I was at the New Haven CT show ❤ Two nights of 5150😊
Props to Mikey, Sammy knows what's up!😂❤
The fact that hagars voice sounds soooooo good even without being in the studio is crazy
Never heard of overdubbing to replace live vocals in the studio afterward? Happens all the time on "live" albums.
@@allthecommonsense no i actually haven't thanks for telling me bruv
@@allthecommonsense A self-proclaimed "patriot" who makes shit up. Way to live up to the stereotype, big guy.
@@rbecker380 you’re saying they never overdub better vocals onto “live” recordings? Fascinating. At 4:01… please tell me how Michael Anthony’s vocal is just as loud at Sammy’s when Michael is singing almost 180 degrees off-axis of a dynamic mic whose secondary characteristic is to REJECT off-axis sound to better isolate the singer’s voice AND prevent feedback? I’ll wait. Take your time…
@@allthecommonsense Keep waiting. I don't have respect for fake patriots, and therefore couldn't care less what you think.
God I miss the 80's 😢
Me too. The best time of my life. I was 23 in 1986.
@@2004vanhalenI had just graduated. The next two summers were the best in my life and Van Halen was a huge part of the soundtrack.
One of the best and most fun tours ever. The concerts just hit different back then. I miss that world ❤
F’n ditto 🤘😢
🤘
Yeah......... nobody had cell phones or social media back then, you went to concerts to enjoy the music and party with your friends.
Me too,,,😂
Back when live music really was live, chicks didn't have dicks, and dudes had to actually walk up to women and talk to them.
I hate the 21st century.
Say what you want, but Sammy could sing his ass off!!!
Still can!
Underrated as hell!!
And always seems to love doing it too.
He can, but it still isnt the real VanHalen
@@dutchman063 How were they not the "real Van Halen" when Sammy was with them?
As long as EVH and AVH were still in the band, they WERE the real Van Halen.
This slays the studio version on 5150.
Right? It kills it. The guitar tone, everything.
It's about the energy of the moment. No studio can produce that feeling.
Not even close. And I love the album but this kills!
I love the album but I like it better live! I kinda like everything better Live.... Eddie is so missed! ❤
These guys were truly happy at that time
Us 50 something yr olds sit in our car after work and go back in time like this
I’m right there with you!
I'm with you too!
I'm 62..still luv it!!
I’m 65 retired and had just started my medical career when this came out. Reminds me I used to be young.
Yeah ok buddy.
I think, this is my favorite video of them: it is like a party! Without any rehearsals !
Yeah, they all seem like best friends and are having such a blast!
Everyone getting hammered...It's crazy! What a time! 😊😊😊
They were having the time of their lives
What an incredible time for music. I am so glad I was able to see stuff like this in person.
I watch this....... and I see best friends...... having the best night of their lives....... thats what rock and roll is missing.
Well said!
Sammy's vocals and Eddie's guitar skills are insane!
"Just tune into what this place has got to offer , Cause we may never be here again".
Turns out he was singing about the 80’s.
What a time to be alive, I was a teenager. Still love VH 🤘🤘
I Love Van Halen with Diamond Dave up until 84 and I Love Van Hagar. Truly the Best of Both Worlds
Gotta love Michael. Bass on point and those vocals were on target. Never be this kind of electricity on stage again.
People always only talk about Mike's singing, which was great, but he was a pretty good bass player too. I mean he's not flashy like Billy Sheehan but he's solid
I have seen Sammy and Van Halen many times together and separately in the 80’s and Van Hagar was the best!
❤I REALLY miss real musicians, playing with enthusiasm making kick ass concerts to entertain and inspire us. #RIPEVH
nobody played like EVH. He had such swag.
Still plenty of excellent "real" musicians out there.
True, not as many though and very few of this caliber.🤘🖖✌️🎸🎤🥁🎹
I just miss VH. I’m yet to see a concert that comes close to them.
Now the biggest concerts they don’t even sing or play instruments
My first concert was their 5150 tour............still my favorite concert.
You should have been there on the first tour in 1978
You set the bar high with a first show!
SAME. Nothing comes close ... and I've seen a LOT of concerts.
You have to really appreciate just how much talent was in that band!
they were their own super group
Can someone Invent time travel I want to go back to these awesome times😛😜😛😜
Or at least the Holodeck from Star Trek😂that would be awesome. Oculus ISN’T quite there yet.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎹🎤
I'm in on the time travel
I think I’ve watched that intro about 100 times. Can’t get enough!
OMG what a band. Makes me happy everytime! Wish I’d been there
Thank you Sammy. Finally a tribute concert tour for EVH in summer of 2024.🎸🎸🎸🎸✌️
They look to be having so much fun on stage together here! So much good energy! Sammy slays vocally!
It was the 80's.... I miss thèse old good years😢
Eddie´s smile was always contagious. You couldn´t avoid to have fun in a VH concert. Only saw them once in their first stage with Roth, but I must admit that Hagar´s era was huge and the songs were great!
Sammy Hagar beat out dlr by long shot sammy Mike Alex and Eddie were the best bands ever together
Pretty much wore this cassette out.
There will never be another band as good as this. I saw them live twice. RIP Eddie, you are missed sir.
Greatest clip of all time! I saw these four guys when I was 6 years old. Thank you to my dad for taking me!
You were 6? That is unreal!!!!! You must have thought a freight train was hitting you! 😂
Time traveler here (year 3098)... not supposed to be here but just FYI Eddie is still considered the best ever. I love the sound of Eddie in the whole concert. Check out his LIVE WITHOUT A NET solo if you haven't -- it's the best thing ever!
Don’t mess up the time/space continuum, bro!
Thank you God, for letting us borrow Eddie. We loved him and he loved us back. His eyes, his smiles....all the Van Halen memories we'll keep forever. ❤
Amen. 😢
Legends! Man, Alex Van Halen just "Attacking" his drum kit! Unreal. I miss these days!
I love this live performance from 1986 ! This is one of my favorite performances By 1986 I was I was Van Halen crazy and they became my favorite rock group because of Sammy Hagar
They were the best😢
How much fun do these guys look like they are having?!?!?! RIP Eddie!!!!
Best band of all time! All 8 members over the bands history were legends! Long Live The Mighty Van Halen!!! 🤘🏻🕊💯
🎶🎸🤩💜🎉😊🎤🎹🥁🎶 Great 8!!
Disagree... this is Amazing Van Halen...they were Mighty Van Halen with David Lee Roth!!
@@wilfredfreytes9384 👍🏻🤘🏻
8 members? I'm coming up with EVH, AVH, Dave, Mike, Sammy, Cherone, Wolfie....
@@scottcummings8602 Many people don’t know but I counted Mark Stone there very first bassist before Anthony. He didnt play with them long and he died a couple of months before Eddie did. He’s not as good as Micheal but he was a part of VH history! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The Best They Ever Were right there. They're having Fun, sounding Killer, Looking Great. I have never heard Sammy sing better than that.... he is hitting notes way above Plant..... and Eddie is killing it as usual with his signature sound. The Absolute Best ever! Thanks for posting!
I saw them two days before in Portland, Maine. Still top 5 show I've ever seen. Unforgetable
Eddie always had such a good time when he was jamming.
And such a touch on that rhythm guitar.
And Mikes vocals!
Eddie was no slouch on the harmonies either.
What an incredible guitar/vocal dual. Sammy might have been his best vocally right here, right now. His pipes and on FIRE and of course Eddie is just Eddie and ALWAYS ON FIRE. Great tune and great intro to the Sammy era.
Sammy knows how to turn a concert into a fantastic party. And Eddie, Alex, and Michael are having all kinds of fun.
Lord, I miss Eddie Van Halen. Thank you for allowing him to enrich our lives Lord. He was a musical genius and we only had him for a while. May you rest in eternal peace, Eddie. 🙏🏼💙🧡😪😎🎸🎵
Amen! ❤🙏
My eyes welled up in tears watching this again, we were very blessed to have been able to have him and the band in our lives. Very grateful to have seen the Master live. ❤😎🤘💙
I loved Sammy!! The best!
How can you not love this version of VH? Really.
Living in those days WE DID have the BEST of BOTH WORLDS 🌎! Thank you for making it possible, Sammy & Van Halen!! ❤
I took my 16 year old brother to the concert at Boston Garden 3 days before this one. Also took him to Twisted Sister and Iron Maiden that summer. Glad I did, he had heart issues since birth but was a tough bastard. (Goalie and boxer)
Agonisingly , he was dead 6 months later, so I always remember this concert very fondly
This is the best, takes me back to 86
This tour they done was i think the best of van hagger it was just bad ass they played freaking perfect one of ny best concert i have ever seen
My first VH show was in 88 @OU812 Tour❤
Finally! I’ve been waiting so long for restored VH videos! Please do more and more! ❤😅
I finished a BEAUTIFUL 4K upscale of "Humans Being" yesterday and uploaded it only to find it was blocked worldwide. Which is odd because I had uploaded a cleaned up version (not 4K) a few years back with no issues. WMG and Rhino blocked the new 4K version. It's odd because I don't even attempt to monetize these as I feel the money should go to the rights-holders.
@@CrosscutFilmsSask That’s too bad. I have always been surprised that after all of these years none of their stuff has been reformatted. I was so happy watching BOBW’s last night. Hopefully you’ll be able to get around that stuff. I mean why not especially if there’s no money involved. Thanks for trying!
I saw this tour in Columbia SC in 1986. Best concert ever saw. Sammy was hanging out of the rafters in coliseum, scared he was going to die.
I've actually still got this on VHS 😁📼
Wow Sammy Hagar a professional
Happy days in Van Halen's career for me!
I saw that dance in 1988 during OU812 tour. They were spectacular !
What an energy! They were having the time of their lives, amazing.
I saw Van Halen with Sammy twice lights out 😊😊😊❤❤❤Rip Eddie 😢😢
Agree 👍 I wasn't a fan until Sammy joined 😊
Always a fan of y’all & y’all’s music!♥️🌟👋
Great Job! This performance made me a Van Hagar fan
Boy that song takes me back
This tour was awesome!!! Saw two different shows and both kicked my ass!!!!!!
I saw VH in 1992 in San Diego right after the LA riots. Sammy’s Give to Live song was especially epic given the current times. I’m grateful that I can say I witnessed Mozart on the guitar that night. A force that will not be seen again in my lifetime.
Just f**king at the top of their game.. Just fun as hell.. I saw this tour 3 times and had a blast the whole time!!👍
A band having real fun, no pretensions.
Ted Templeman, who produced many of Van Halen's releases (some with DLR) along with Sammy Hagar solos, Montrosse, Aerosmith, the Doobie Bros etc, , said Sammy Hagar is the best rock singer on the planet during an April 2020 interview. Sammy is not underrated as a vocalist. He is considered by legends in the industry to be one of the best ever. This iteration of VH had two of the best ever at their craft in Eddie and Sammy.
Very cool! Could you imagine how amazing it would be if we ever see an official 4K remaster?
Saw this tour and a few others. This one was magical.
I was there! In 1985…. I’m seeing Sammy on Oct 25.
I'd love to see the entire Live Without a Net video restored, but 5150 in particular. Thanks for sharing this restored version
Awesome upscale. I never got the chance to see VH live and I think it's one of my top regrets. If I only had a time machine :/
No volveremos a ver nunca un grupo como éste 😢
This was the most relaxed vh.
This is when Van Halen started for me!
Thank God for TH-cam videos so we can keep re-living these great moments in Rock history! RIP Eddie, we miss ya!!
If this song doesn't make you feel good then your soul is broke. Thank God we have this footage. They were having so much fun and KILLING it. I wonder what Eddie and Sammy are saying to each other at the beginning. I think I have an idea. I was playing the intro and after Sammy came in for the call and answer, Ed answered a half step down. I think Ed immediately sensed Sammy was sharp and maybe that was the banter they had. I wonder.
Thank you, Eddie.
When Eddie V breaks it down on this song, such a smooth blues feel! My soul appreciates it 🤘
Damn....I miss these days. Damn.....
At this moment in time there was no bigger band then Van Halen. Hagar has the best debut ever and this is one of the greatest live VH performances ever.
Ooooooh shit baby this looks terrific!!!!
Really great job with this (and the others you've done). You know, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see & hear what you can do with the version of "There's Only One Way To Rock" from the same concert 👍🎸
Point me in the direction of a good source video 😎
We will never be there again, greatest times.
5150 the best album of the 80's
That concert was epic party time would of paid 10000 to see that show
When the magic was there, they were the best.
My favorite band of all time.
I wanna go back redo everything
I was 12 and was suppose to go to this for my first concert. My brother was 16 and my parents just couldn't let it happen lol. Few years later though my brother scalped front row tickets so no complaints.
Cant wait to hear this next summer!!
Dont get any better than this!😊
Hagar scatting like a classic blues singer !
This is it. Pure rock’n’roll.
That BV is incredible. I cant think of anyone else even near MA's range and power.
EVH fully channeling Malcolm Young here and it's glorious. This is such a great concert film, the band are absolutely on top form.
Amen to that. Sammy was the best
Van Hagar in 1986 was unbelievable
What a great f'in time. I smiled through that entire video. I was 12 when Best of Both Worlds hit the shelves and I was still on the high from 1984... needless to say it took a few listens for me to really get in to the album but once it hit it was like magic. I'm one of the few that cherish both (or all three?) eras of VH, if a person picks one or the other they're missing out. Best of Both Worlds was a great song at the perfect time. :)
Every time I see Live Without a Net I wish i could have been around for that tour! The band, the music, the stage, everything is top notch.
Where genius meets fun 👍
