Have to admit the Z06 has impressive launch strategy, it was so consistent even though the Pista beat it at the backend due to horsepower,the Z06 still is impressive.
Brooke had crazy fast reaction times (almost guessing tbh) at (0.80) and the other dude has crazy slow reaction times (.500). So more of a driver thing than a car thing
Talk about bang for buck. That C8 is impressive. Might be home for dinner a little sooner with the Pista, but you'll be able to afford more groceries with the C8. Or get three C8's.
I really think that the Z06 is a master piece . The best corvette ever built. The Z06 and the pista has been designed for a minimum weight . In this case 160 to 200 hp gap can make the difference. Thnak you for these great drag races.
@@rustler08 People keep saying this, but the Corvette is not that heavy. A base model Porsche 911 Carrera coupe weighs 3354 pounds. The C8 Z06 weighs 3500 pounds. When you consider the Corvette has a much larger and MUCH more powerful engine, it seems the Porsche is the one that is overweight.

A lot of these guys aren’t super-familiar with how these timing systems work. Brooks has had a lot of exposure to these systems. Experienced Sportsmen class competitors (NHRA) can consistently turn .020-ish reaction times.

A change in drivers wouldn’t change the results, as those times are independent of driver’s reaction time, and both vehicles run an automated launch-control that is stab-and-go.

That pista seems really slow for an 850 hp one an f8 tributo did 9.8 seconds at 142 mph so a pista should be able to do a 9.7 at 145 mph or even a 9.6 which is really good for a rwd car I like the z06 but in reality even a stock one beats it badly in a straight line

The Pista is harder to launch than an F8, much harder in fact. This is down to the stiffer suspension and more aggressive ESC system. The way the TC acts and how the Pista and F8 launches are totally different. But yes, that does not look like an 850 hp car. I'm guessing yet another "tuner" is making B.S claims on his inertia dyno using STD correction.

Back in 2012 my 2010 C6 Z0 ran 11.8@123 stock on a cool 73 degree day. With Drs out back it ran 11.46@125 same day, 1/2 tank less fuel, thats 50 lbs less. With just a moderate stg2 cam, light flywheel/clutch, gmm race shifter, light battery and variram straight-in intake, it ran 10.8 at 128. Then in 2013 my 2009 ZR1 stock ran 11.5@126.8... On Drs it ran 11.1@127... on slicks and my old variram and light batt, 10.65@128.9. It was tuned with long tubes only and variram, it was estimated at 680 hp crank and with 1/4 -1/2 tank weighed 3229 lbs. My C6 Z0 base, stock with 3/4 full fuel was 3065 lbs.
I wonder how the ZR1 version will perform. I bet it will dominate all with hybrid tech all wheel drive with high power motors driving front wheels and the powerful engine driving the rear with electronic control, it will be amazing!!!
Nothing against drag racing, but these cars are so much more dynamic that drag racers and are not intended for drag racing. Let’s see them battle it out on a road course where they were meant to be raced.

For two track cars, both the Z06 and Pista did an amazing job, and I wonder if the Z07 would’ve done even better with its Cup 2 Rs and carbon fiber wheels. The Z07 absolutely smashed the Pista’s lap time at Magny-Cours a couple weeks ago, though. That’s where the Corvette is absolutely monstrous at.
The Z07 is draggier, so that would hurt the top of the quarter. If you throw light wheels and Cup 2R’s on the Z06, I’d think it would be faster in the quarter …
Can I just point out that the lap time was not exactly smashed? 1:16.06 vs 1:15.23. I would also like to point out that the Pista ran on Cup 2's with alloy wheels while the Z07 ran on CF wheels with Cup 2R's. The Z07 is a great performer for what it is, no arguing that. Just getting things in order.

By the time the Ferrari hits 20K miles, its maintenance will cost 30% of the Z06. Had a F430 and at 17K miles it was reaching past $35K in upkeep. The Pista will be more.

Great content, as always! Going forward, two things WILL come to pass...1) Z06's will be tuned and will be eating cars like this. 2) Team Corvette will come out with bigger and better things and the rest of the world is going to be in even bigger trouble!
I personally don't think there is much left on the table with the C8Z, but with the TT's being added on the ZR1, it will be nasty! And the Zora having the ZR1 TT engine AND the E Ray front electric motors, that should really put the rest of the world on notice!
I don't know, but when just tooling around town, and racing at stoplights, I'd rather have the Vette. That Chevy gets off quick! I would love to see it do the 1/8 mile against all comers, and see how many supercars it can beat! 👍😎✌🗽
The z06 is just loud to me it does not make music like the Lambo's and Ferrari's. The Mclaren and Z06's sound terrible to me hurts the ears that is just me. The Vette is really something when price it put into equation I will give it that but, looks it is the Ferrari hands down. The way the V6 Mclaren walks the Z06 is crazy on the Top end.

The initial launch Z06 always have advantage because it's like 911 it's weight distribution more rear engine like than mid engine like hence it gets great acceleration but suffers in some other areas because of that

You really can't be a car enthusiast or on a racing team. Everyone knows a stock Pista is no match for a ZO6 on a fast or slow track. That has already been proven. This Pista has been modified. It has an aftermarket exhaust and tune. In other words, it is not stock.

If your main use is drag strip go with Demon 170 for less money and bloor the doors of Pista and everything else. Almost no one buys Pista for 1/4 mile use.
LMAO, please show me where I can get a $110k Z06. That Z06 won't exist for the next two to three years, it's a $200-250k car right now. Also, it's about $150k for a C8Z like you're seeing here, which is 1/2 the cost.
Need to set up some runs with Brooks, when he gets his Z against the record holder WFarmer Z who has ran 10.1s down to 9.9s and Jesse Iwuji who has ran some 10.4s at a neutral track. This would be a great showdown.
@toppdogg2k17 Not pointless. There's data points that can be picked up by running it. For instance, the vette launches better to the 60 foot. It really doesn't matter who you race against, win or lose, it's the passion of racing and trying to improve. (For those who want to improve)
The tuned Pista was running slower than stock ones do. 137 trap? Stock Pista best run was 10.1 @ 144. I get different tracks, DA, driver, etc., but that’s a significant difference, which makes me think there might be a problem with the tune. Seems like it’s actually making less power than stock.
The Pista is just out for Pizza awhile the Z0 is running a sprint to catch up, lol. Only 4-6 mph quicker than my old stock LS7 Z06 was, and those were manual trans only until the C7 Z0 came in 2015. All 427 LS7 veicles were manual only.
Chevy seriously need to fire their entire design team and design management and hire folks who know what they're doing starting with that stupid square steering wheel! Look at the one in the Pista! Or even look at one from a Honda Civic!!!
Brooks is trying way hard to prove a point with the Z06 and his purchase. I have seen his videos and actually quite rely on this guy for genuine stock v stock race references. However, his last 812 Superfast and this Pista race proves what he is trying to do. We all know that Superfast was not running its true potential and this Pista is nowhere near 850 hp. It's running lower trap speed and time than a stock one. It should be at the level of a 720s or beyond with that kind of power.
Its crazy how people in 2023 still dont understand that low weight high hp/torque means its hard to get off the line 🤦 everything is irrelevant other than the trap speeds in which the pista is in another league...

A mild cam on the C6 ZR put it in the 10.4's around 136 mph on Drs/ 710 crank hp..
A base stock C7 ZR can push mid 10's at 135 mph but its also 3600 lbs.
The C8 Z0 just seems to havetbe grip for better 0-60 and launching vs stick tire old ZR or Z0.

@@alim7502 less weight, more power, shorter gear ratios and the list goes on. 488 Pista competes against 720S and GT2 RS, while Z06 competes against R8's Huracán's etc.. they are not on the same level, that's where the C8 ZR1 comes in

Great content, as always! Going forward, two things WILL come to pass...1) Z06's will be tuned and will be eating cars like this. 2) Team Corvette will come out with bigger and better things and the rest of the world is going to be in even bigger trouble!
I personally don't think there is much left on the table with the C8Z, but with the TT's being added on the ZR1, it will be nasty! And the Zora having the ZR1 TT engine AND the E Ray front electric motors, that should really put the rest of the world on notice!

The z06 is just loud to me it does not make music like the Lambo's and Ferrari's. The Mclaren and Z06's sound terrible to me hurts the ears that is just me. The Vette is really something when price it put into equation I will give it that but, looks it is the Ferrari hands down. The way the V6 Mclaren walks the Z06 is crazy on the Top end.
This Z06 is already pretty good. Can't wait for the ZR1. That might challange the 765 LT or 720S

The initial launch Z06 always have advantage because it's like 911 it's weight distribution more rear engine like than mid engine like hence it gets great acceleration but suffers in some other areas because of that

Corvette driver for the winning driver (which is what actually matters) but let’s be honest, the pista absolutely destroys the vette at anything past kindergarten speeds, it’s jogging away, imagine the difference on a track that really matters, turning and braking, it would be a different league. You really can't be a car enthusiast or on a racing team. Everyone knows a stock Pista is no match for a ZO6 on a fast or slow track. That has already been proven. This Pista has been modified. It has an aftermarket exhaust and tune. In other words, it is not stock.
The fact that the Z06 sounds that much better than a Ferrari is an incredible testament to how far Corvette engineering has come. Absolutely insane 🔥

Turned about as expected. The Z06 is quite good for 1/3 the price of the Ferrari.
If your main use is drag strip go with Demon 170 for less money and bloor the doors of Pista and everything else. Almost no one buys Pista for 1/4 mile use.

@toppdogg2k17 Not pointless. There's data points that can be picked up by running it. For instance, the vette launches better to the 60 foot. It really doesn't matter who you race against, win or lose, it's the passion of racing and trying to improve. (For those who want to improve)
The tuned Pista was running slower than stock ones do. 137 trap? Stock Pista best run was 10.1 @ 144. I get different tracks, DA, driver, etc., but that’s a significant difference, which makes me think there might be a problem with the tune. Seems like it’s actually making less power than stock.

The Pista is just out for Pizza awhile the Z0 is running a sprint to catch up, lol. Only 4-6 mph quicker than my old stock LS7 Z06 was, and those were manual trans only until the C7 Z0 came in 2015. All 427 LS7 veicles were manual only.
Add turbos to that ZO6 then will see 😎

Brooks is trying way hard to prove a point with the Z06 and his purchase. I have seen his videos and actually quite rely on this guy for genuine stock v stock race references. However, his last 812 Superfast and this Pista race proves what he is trying to do. We all know that Superfast was not running its true potential and this Pista is nowhere near 850 hp. It's running lower trap speed and time than a stock one. It should be at the level of a 720s or beyond with that kind of power.

The spec on that Pista, with the deep green, red stripes and bronze wheels is about as perfect as you can get.
Its crazy how people in 2023 still dont understand that low weight high hp/torque means its hard to get off the line 🤦 everything is irrelevant other than the trap speeds in which the pista is in another league...
Even with that guy sleeping at the start, the Pista still kills the Z06 everytime. Just imagine if the drivers were exchanged..utter annihilation..
