Traction is going to be a real issue for this car. It will probably be spinning tires or maybe cutting power at 60-70 mph. Makes no sense to leave out AWD.
0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds doesn’t sound quick at all. Somebody did a 2.7 0-60 mph in a Model 3 Performance the other day. No way it will do mid 8s in the 1/4 mile with such a slow 60’.

AWD would have made the car bigger and heavier. traction will not be as big an issue as you think. The car is extremely light and all the weight it does have is sitting on top of the rear wheels for traction. It won’t be as fast in the beginning of street races as awd cars of course, but it will finish the race 1st. And at a prepped drag strip it’ll keep up well in the beginning too.
Unlike literally every other exotic car brand, aside from Koenigsegg, Pagani, and some Porsches, McLaren is the absolute king of making lightweight cars. 1258HP at 3000lbs is insane. It will probably match the Chiron’s 60-130.

If you divide the kwh of the batter by the power it produces in kw, you'll get the discharge rate, in other words how long can the battery supply full power, in this case 1.4kwh/258 kw you get like 20 seconds, less than other but full throttle for 20 seconds is more than enough on public roads and tracks, and the battery recharges with regen braking + plus other stuff. This got f1 battery tech so it might be better than what i suspect it's like, battery on this is similar to speedtail's but more power and possibly better cells, made for heavy duty discharges and deployment with recharging at high rates. Edit: the battery probably recharges at the same time so it will be last hard track sessions and drags
With the prices of the P1 waaaay above MSRP... Why wouldn't you invest into an allocation? It would be a no brainer! These things will sell for 2x the price off the lot.
Koenigsegg's Raxial Quark motor made 250 kW (335 horsepower), 600 Nm (443 pound-feet) of torque, and weighed 30 kg (66 pounds). But after 20 seconds, the power output drops to 134 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This lighter, smaller, more powerful motor seems better, but I wonder if the power drops off in a similar way? Either way it won't matter much, as the W1 will be going over 200MPH in 20 seconds, and the powerful 4.0L TTV8 will have taken over long before then.
I don't think the power drop is a motor limitation, but a battery capacity and therefore output after 20 second limitation. The McLaren should be around 20 seconds too, every hybrid supercar has these limits but they just don't disclose them.
This vs the successor to the LaFerrari is going to be an interesting battle.....the Laf is a 3 liter V6 with THREE electric motors etc for a combined 1200 plus Hp as well. Can't wait to see them head to head.
Wasnt sure about it at first but after seeing the F80 this car is amazing and a no brainer to have in ones collection. F80 will have almost double of the examples produced making this car a smart investment

On the other hand, even if you dropped 2.1 million dollars on a bone stock W1, or 2.5 on a W1 with tons of custom options, you'd still be able to flip it a year later, make tons of content beating everyone on the strip and out on the street, and sell it for at least a million more than what you paid for it due to its collectibility...so there is that too lol....
Would be a good choice Brooks...and also as an alternative keep in mind that Underground Racing has a twin turbo package ready for the Revuelto...2,000+ hp to start, a lot more later with a stage 2 turbo kit, so thinking around 2,500hp for stage 2, $200k cost...think about it

It looks amazing, love the doors, spoiler, power , design, some people don't like the front, I love it. This car is perfect for lots of different specs,can't wait to see what people come up with, I actually like all the black, for me Mclaren has never been great at their launch spec, its not made the car look cool as it could be, this spec is alot better. Could you not have commited then pulled out later Brookes? Or is their some sort of penalty for doing that? I've never been in your position so I don't know but I'm guessing there must be some sort of protocol for things like this. Stand-alone, the W1 is unique for its power-to-weight and the outright output with dense packaging. And even for value in this niche, it’s “reasonably” priced. But the 765LT and its presumed direct successor (800LT?) are by far the better value, especially with a brand that has greater depreciation than its top competitors (looking at you, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche). But the real value in this or any segment close to it, if you can keep from sneering, is the C8 Corvette ZR1.
Hopefully this time they make a hybrid sustem that actually works. The AMG ONE is a very high bar and unless your running those lap times all your doing is paying for something everyone in a GtR already does better which is post draggy figures

I'm surprised they didn't put a MGU-H in to bring super fast recharging and a boost to the turbo spool like Porsche did with the GTS or Merc with their AMG One. This seems like a pretty basic hybrid setup while we've seen more advanced evolutions of that already.
The battery would last maybe 20 seconds at full throttle before needing recharged. It wouldn't be great at the drag strip for more than one run, maybe two.

I'm surprised they didn't put a MGU-H in to bring super fast recharging and a boost to the turbo spool like Porsche did with the GTS or Merc with their AMG One. This seems like a pretty basic hybrid setup while we've seen more advanced evolutions of that already.
