- I managed to do quite a bit of filming before, during, & after our annual Memorial Day Weekend BBQ this past weekend. I've been wanting to post a more in-depth summer party prep video ever since I filmed that shorter one last September (link below). I especially enjoy hosting summer BBQs, because of the laid-back nature of these types of parties & that I get so much help with the food preparation. I hope you enjoy this video. Jen, you are so right about making lists. I just hosted a college graduation party for my son's girlfriend and the lists that I made helped me immensely. At a certain stage, my brain get's so cluttered and overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done. I find that having a checklist is a great way of clearing the mind and reducing the anxiety. Great video. Unfortunately weather here in Ireland is so unpredictable that BBQs are rare.

I always enjoy your party prep videos. Getting everything organized in advanced always make things run more smoothly. I also love that you always have something special for your nieces & the guest dogs (hostess with the mostest!). The only thing I found missing was your OOTD & Winnie's party bows! You always dress so cute & we like to see you in "party attire" even when the party is more casual. Thanks for sharing your Memorial Day party prep with us!

Jen I simply adore your videos. Because of you I have decluttered my home, reorganized my kitchen and simplified my wardrobe space. Watching your videos makes me smile, you are like a good friend with sage advice and a generous warm heart. I love getting glimpse of your life with Winnie and hubby, they are as adorable as you. I was suprised about the no flags and decorating too, but then she didn't show the front of her house, she may have old glory hanging proudly out front, like we do. I loved the video! She gave me a few ideas for my big 4th of July BBQ.

I love how you broke down all the details of the preparation into manageable daily/weekly pieces, great example of, what is that expression, the best way to eat an elelphant is one piece at a time, lol :) I just bought my first house and am planning to host Christmas at our house this year for the first time, so I am sure I will be returning to this video over and over again for party planning ideas and inspiration. :)

I know its not enviromental but I, too, love to use disposable plates and cutlery when I host big parties. Way less work to do when cleaning up. I find especially for summer BBQ's its ok cuz they are usually more casual events.

JEN Your party looked so beautiful,your so well organized and prepared ahead of time! I have a binder tabbed for each of the holidays and special occasions where I keep my planner for food,colour schemes,music,videos,decorations.I had fun making a cover page for each section and sitting down initially to plan,right down to the candy.lol. I love this to refer back to last year and like u said adjust a few things.The check list is in the binder and another things like a print out of the recipes.

Love your thought process while planning your parties! I unfortunately have a hubby and daughter whose idea of organizing is to stuff things in a drawer all willy nilly. They laugh at me and my lists but love it when they're looking for something and I can tell them without hesitation where it is!!! Love your videos!!!!

great video the longer the better ,you are such a brilliant host ,it is great to be able to plan a bbq here in ireland the weather is so unpredictable i have never been able to set a date for one. our bbq 's are based on the weather so it is normally impromtue.got loads of tips from you though will use hopefully this summer .glad to see you love our irish butter

I should invest is lined post it notes like the purple ones you showed. Those make it easier for me to write. I cannot for the life of me write in a sheet of paper without lines espeically if I'm making a huge list.

Wow! You are totally inspiring! I love to entertain but it usually only happens Christmas and Thanksgiving. I am now looking forward to planning a great BBQ for this years Memorial Day and 4th of July. Any opportunity to be with family is always great!
