There is one good thing about the current reboot: people are made aware / reminded of the one and only original one and fall (again) in love with it ❤️🔥
I disagree with you about Sarah being a "boring kid character". I was 10 when this movie came out, and I found Sarah to be so relatable. I still do, 30 years later. I think they did a great job showing the lonliness Sarah has after losing Shelly and Eric. I feel like the film showed the depth of love Eric and Shelly had for Sarah. Especially when Eric drains the drugs from Darla. I think it shows that he knew Sarah needed someone to love her and protect her, and because he knew he couldn't be there, he turned Sarah's mother toward the light, so to speak. I have other thoughts about Officer Albrecht as well, but this comment is already too long.
You have to remember back in the early 90s the use of CGI wasn't as prevalent as they are today. Alot of the scenes in the Crow with Brandon are super-imposed with CGI in post production due to his untimely death. The whole change into the Crow wasn't Brandon at all & the parts where his face are shown were added in post. Heck if you look closely when Brandon stands by the window & the lightning flashes to reveal his look, his face was super-imposed in that shot. So the CGI was actually very good for its time.
I understand the confusion. They don’t explicitly state it. But Top Dollar doesn’t “just want anarchy” - he’s committing insurance fraud by burning buildings he already owns. Eric and Shelly refused to vacate their loft (that Top Dollar owned). The anarchy is just a fringe benefit.
One Scene alone From the 1994 version of the Crow is more emotionally charged than the entire 2024 attempt. The scene where Eric fills the shotgun with the jewellery of Tintins victims
I think the villains in the original are fantastic for what they are. Sure, they are irredeemably evil and arguably one-note, but the actors (especially Michael Wincott) sell it completely.
Is this a fucking joke? The original is a fucking classic. A gothic masterpiece, and the comic is a hell of a read as well. I haven’t seen the new one, but every single video that says it’s “the worst movie of the year” tells me all I need to know especially since Borderlands was just receiving that title which means this is effectively worse than Borderlands. This didn’t need to be remade. It should have stayed in production hell.
@ The original just has a really special place in my heart. It’s the last film my dad ever took me to see. Not that he was any sort of man worth celebrating, but it’s still one of like three good memories I have. This is just a remake that should have stayed in production hell, and you’d think all the issues they had getting it made would have clued someone in.
The part that gets me about this new movie is that it had nothing to do with the original story which is just sad because that means that all of the anger and grief integral to the story of The Crow is just gone. The story is also about grief and guess what? There isn't just one Crow in the comics either so they easily just could have given them different names and let the protagonist be his own Crow and not a sad attempt at Eric. What makes the original story work is the emotion behind it, Eric's story was written after the writer's fiancé was killed by a drunk driver. All of these flashbacks with Eric and Shelly are based on memories he had with her, the 1994 movie had James (the original author) as a part of the writing theme which is why the slight rewrite works for the movie. I think he was kicked out of the new movie because they wanted to go their own direction which is probably why it sucks, he has also said that Eric Draven belongs to Brandon Lee and if another adaptation would be made they should leave out the last name given by the original movie. In the comics neither Eric nor Shelly have last names that was something the movie gave them.
this, trust me (not sure if your in the 'trad goth' community) but we are raging even babybats are mad at this butchering of Eric and Shelly! I mean Goth or not you could feel the comic had feeling Guts it was raw
I fully agree. If it was not Eric and Shelly then go on. Bill Skarsgard is still Skarsgard so his acting is good enough at least, but in scenes is missing that strange fragility Brandon was able to get in. He may be immortal and regenerate, that does not mean wounds does not cause pain. But what ruins it most is change in reason for murder. From innocent lams, sacrificed for being too good and trusting to witness removal. Sure, still murder, but what wake up Eric was partially that unfairness and vain in that killing. Why rewrite it? Honestly, i would love honest to graphic novel version. Weird to the top, with Eric quoting Hamlet, Bible and random poets. That is Crow that should be done.

I’m just going to say this: The new Crow is a good film if you’re not biased towards secondary adaptations of previously adapted films from comic books. It’s up there with the original Crow. The original is an immortal film because of Brandon Lee, but the new film has moments where you can’t help but be impressed by it. When I saw the trailer, I immediately felt that it was going to be a great film, and it was to me, and it still is. This is a good example of Take What You Want by Post Malone: Take what you want from me, take what you need from me, take what you want and go.
It's a mediocre movie, but it's a fuckin terrible The Crow. If mgk made a movie to fit his pathetic "genre sadboi" character, this is exactly it. That might even actually be how this movie was concieved. This movie is like the Mustang Mach-E. It's a terrible car on its own, but the fact that it was trying to be a MUSTANG makes it an absolute atrocity.
Like the rating system there, it illustrates really well why the 2024 one sucks so hard. In the interest of conversation I'm gonna hard disagree with the appraisal of the villains in the original. The quartet are indeed dumb and destructive, but then....this kind of thugs are like that in reality. Also for knowing them for such a limited amount of time, I really like their introduction scene with the bullets - it really manages to sketch in broad strokes the dynamics and characters of each one - T-Bird is the leader and more affective, Funboy is a sleaze, Tin Tin is agressive and cocky, Skank is the runt of the litter, etc. And Top Dollar is a stellar villain imho - not just the extra aesthetics with the vintage clothes, the incest and the swordfighting, but the fact that while he's so extra you never doubt for a moment that he's dangerous af. He really also gives off that "I've done everything and am chasing the ultimate challenge" feeling. And it's a great achievement for a movie to have a villain that you're happy to see on screen every time while never forgetting that he's a despicable human being and always wanting the hero to bring him down. So many movies today fail at that, and it's a testament to how well written and acted both he and Eric are.

The original Crow came to define a generation cinimatically as the Seattle sound did musically. It's unfortunate that its been overshadowed by the Matrix. Just saw the new one, it's cool because the story is different but it doesn't really come close to the original.
I wouldn't exist until 10 years after the original The Crow but to me it seemed like a metal music/goth oriented movie. I think that might be why it was not as big.
It sounds so cliche, but Brandon really is what made The Crow so great. Watch all of his interviews, he dissected the character so well and it truly showed. The remake missed a major plot point: Brandon Lee highlighted in an interview that the original asks, What would you do if brought back for a day after being dead for a year? Eric in the original doesn't reveal himself to Sarah right away, as it would reopen grief. In the remake, Eric is resurrected the day after his death, so no one is grieving, losing that key element. Skarsgard is a good actor, but this was not a passion project, it was a paycheck. He didn't bring the same passion like he did with Pennywise. I think The Crow could have a solid reimagination BUT I think you have to not use Eric. Honestly, City of Angels should be remade. The film had a great plot before the studio messed it up. The original script would have made a great film and I would love to see someone make a passion project out of it.
About the new Crow movie: I think that it's super unnatural how the couple knows nothing about eachother, yet they are supposed to be "so in love". They literally just met, ran from the asylum and suddenly they are supposed to be a couple. It's too quick, unnatural and there is no reason for either of them to develop deep feelings apart from liking eachothers looks. Second thing I'd like to point out, is how the re-birth of Eric works. In the old Crow movie we see it as this mysterious curse kind of thing, like we just know that he came to live to take revenge. I know that in the 2024 movie they needed to explain the devil pact thing but I still thing they could have do it differently. Like this the whole mysterious aura, that'd be also adding to Eric's revenge, was swiped off and I found it really upsetting. Lastly I think that the scene with the horse was kind of...well, they could have deleted it. It isn't important for the movie at all. If they wanted to show that Eric had a trauma, it would make much more scence if they shown his abusive parents at the start, not a dying horse. Or they could have made the scene at least a little bit important in the future, since it has no meaning like this (at least for me)
I didn't see new movie "Crow" but I'm saw a 100 times original movie. So I can't say who is better but I know for me Brendon Lee best Eric Dreven, I very like this dark atmosphere in old movie. Violence, romantic, pain, happy, revenge. Well I can't say how much point I give to new movie but old one it's 1000 from 10❤
It’s not better. No. But, everyone is way over critical of the new one. It’s not bad. It still is a decent movie. So many hate on this because their favorite was the og. My favorite is and always will be the original. I grew up watching it since it came out. I’m 44 years old and really appreciate the first film. The New one is fine and I respect it because it’ll keep the story from being forgotten over time. People will see this and know it’s a remake and by nature, curiosity will inspire them to look up the original and they will likely fall in love with the masterpiece we all love and appreciate.
The Crow 2024 is an abomination.I knew the minute I saw the trailer, Bad casting. Bad story. It was a joke that did no justice to the original. Did nothing to honor the comic characters. The original Crow is a masterpiece. Great characters, great story, great music. RIP BRANDON LEE
In the original film, Shelly was a memory, a dream... not something concrete ... She was something you could no longer have ..... that was the idea, avenging a memory... whereas Shelly in 2024 is a zero.
I think we can all agree it's safe to say that this new so-called movie The Crew-oops, sorry, I meant The Crow🤣-is just a high-budget ad to make you go watch the original 1994 classic masterpiece The Crow.
I like the new one (not near as much as the OG) but I think it’s because I’m not seeing it as trying to be “the crow” but as its own thing. The remake has its charms but the original is a masterpiece
It is, in fact. My Master, Moo-Djesh, the highest pathos of Moorai-Goo, scorns of the previous movie from the highest peak of Thor-Gheesi, my most beloved mound in Thangoo-shoo.
The Crow is based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr the original movie is true to the storyline, this new one even though a retelling is not the crow. And those that know who Brandon Lee will definitely know who his father is.
The new one might have better digital technology, but it won't save the movie if the script and direction are crap. No complaints about the actors as they certainly do a good job and it's hard to do a role that someone (Brandon Lee) has already done perfectly. And besides, it is very difficult to achieve the atmosphere of the original film, and cgi and other digital technology do not help in this matter at all. But perhaps part of the magic of the original is due to the tragic circumstances that occurred during filming. Unfortunately, these cannot and should not be repeated. This new one may work completely on its own, but it will never beat the original. Oh and I have never watched this new one and maybe never will, but I will watch the original (The Crow 1994) for sure as Halloween is quite close. :)
I like the details Sarah, Gabriel & the reformed Darla contributed to give balance of light/dark, hope/despair in the original version. Top Dollar's the man! He's cruel, handsome, stylish, gross, incestuous, greedy, sleazy & everything that evil is. Roeg looks like a skeezy, old rest home admin. Skarsgård's 1950s-grandma's-boy haircut just didn't work for me, lol‼FKA seems like a DEI hire. JS😜
I didn’t find the remake bad, if you go in NOT thinking Brandon Lees The Crow , its actually really good. Wayyy better than the Beetlejuice 2 film of crap
They should’ve done an original prequel to the 94 version using the Skull Cowboy as the main protagonist. There was cut footage of his character in the original film. He would’ve made for a far better film than this remake
No but could have been much better if it was a separate version of the crow like what we saw with city of angels and crow salvation the other films that followed after the original which had nothing to do with Eric. Well except for city of angels because the character Sarah from the original was trying to help the new crow.
I liked it and still has a fresh audience score on rotten tomatoes. If you are on the fence don’t let people who have had a target on the movie since it was announced sway you from seeing it.
In 1994 when The Crow came out it had a budget of $23 million and made back almost $100 million. This at a time when the average movie ticket was just over $4. Impressive. The remake cost $50 million to make and at the cinema it barely passed $20 million. OUCH! It'll make a bit more money on digital and streaming and whatever but I highly doubt this crappy remake will even make its money back. GOOD! Audiences have had enough of the crappy remakes Hollywood. STOP IT!
Unfortunately the nostalgia rage blinds peoples basic knowledge and they dont understand that the new movie is better, just seen it and i was a big fan of the original and i have to admit this new one is more comic accurate and better
I have nostalgia blindness but anyone knows a good movie when they see one LOL. And also too that CGI that you keep bringing up was actually superimposed because he couldn't finish the film so they have to get someone else to do the scenes. You know because of death
The original was way better. My fiancee had never seen the original before. I have. We watched it before going to see the new one. She agreed that the original was better.
- Just watched The Crow 2024 movie last night, and I thought it was great. The original crow movie was better. But the new one is a great movie. I watched both of them at the theater. I don't understand why so many movie critics are giving the new one bad reviews. I can review movies better than most of them, and I personally think that most of them weren't paying attention while they were watching the new movie. Several of the movie critics I listened to got many details about the movie wrong. The movie was great. It was well directed, and it had a great music score.

I liked this film a lot. It never tries to replace the Brandon Lee classic; it aims to stand beside it and succeeds. Even comparing it to the first and ragging on it because isn't a duplicate of the first never is silly.
You are very wrong the new one is way better than the original. The new one actually showed how they met and showed their relationship in reality. The original was very lazy of telling the story of Eric and Shelly’s relationship all through flashbacks. This new one shows the transformation of Eric becoming the Crow. I give the original 4 out of 10 and the new one 8.5 out of 10. The new one is way better.
the 90's EALY 90's this movie is 30 years old, CGI wasn't that good, it didn't have the hype or budget that say batman would have (it was kinda an inde Goth comic that wasn't super huge from the 80s) the sound track made it more epic, people seem to forget: things do age thingy stray and change from the OG content (the comic was different in some parts to the OG real Crow movie) The Crow should have stay in the 90s! or at least The Eric Draven Crow , the comics had other 'crows' could have done a gritzy modern crow movie with a new crow based of one of the other crows
I’m going to say that I didn’t hate this movie but I was generally disappointed…. A lot of decisions in this movie strayed away from what made the crow in the first place. I felt his motive for revenge made no sense since he agreed to stay dead and not be with Shelly for eternity…. Honestly that was the whole point of why he got revenge in the first place to right the wrongs and then spend eternity with her in peace… it made no sense why his revenge is to have her live and him stay dead…. The action was very brutal and satisfying but unfortunately it came so late in the movie….. good ideas but bad execution….. and it should’ve been two different characters than Eric and Shelly…. 3/10 for me
Nostalgia for the original isn't even neccessary to know that this remaks is just B-A-D! Judged solely on it's own qualities, it's a visually ugly, boring, dull-as-dishwater movie, filled with lazy, phoned-in performances from actors who should know better. It's like the producers traveled back in time to a Hot Topic in the year 2000, kidnapped all the 13 - 16 year olds that were hanging out there, and, forced them to write a movie script.

Crow 2024 sucks!
This feels like an @SkipTheTutorial video and i love it
About the new Crow movie: I think that it's super unnatural how the couple knows nothing about eachother, yet they are supposed to be "so in love".
Well I can't say how much point I give to new movie but old one it's 1000 from 10❤
As an aside, the antagonist didn't kill for "immortality, or something". It was immortality. Not sure why you included the "or something".
“Q” Brando Lee is alive like his Father “Q”
Dumbest Title in a TH-cam video i have ever read
it's click/rage bait lol have to be on some 'top dolla' drugs to think it's better then the OG :P
"and everyone has been wondering is this new remake better than the original"
Literally no one has been wondering that.
Don't ever be dissin Brandon Lee... This is Bruce Lee's son, show some respect.
Why are even comparing the cgi of a 1994 movie to a 2024 movie
because the 2024 movie needs its wins where it can find them
@@AnotherNickMovies lol
First : NO
Second: also BIG NO
Are you asking seriously or it's just rhetorical??
To not waste anyone's time the answer is Hell No
It could never, it wasn't, it can't be!
94 one was dumb. This one was amazing. Don't listen to the criticism see it yourself.
this is my first crow movie i was trying to watch it last night and fell asleep
Is that gasoline I smell?
They should’ve done an original prequel to the 94 version using the Skull Cowboy as the main protagonist. There was cut footage of his character in the original film. He would’ve made for a far better film than this remake
All the crow movies are awesome.
The first crow 1994 was alot better
Another addition to the list of remakes i refuse to watch, thanks Hollywood!
I want a new iteration of the Crow in which the singer from The Cure plays the main character but it’s called The Spider instead.
I LOVE Gods of Egypt!
No but could have been much better if it was a separate version of the crow like what we saw with city of angels and crow salvation the other films that followed after the original which had nothing to do with Eric. Well except for city of angels because the character Sarah from the original was trying to help the new crow.
Am I the only person that still hopes this movie can b good
I had hopes too
I liked it and still has a fresh audience score on rotten tomatoes. If you are on the fence don’t let people who have had a target on the movie since it was announced sway you from seeing it.
You’re the only one 😂
I liked it too. Can't compare it to the 1994 film because it's its own story. @@lankeysob
@@ellagoreyshorrorstories7524 no it isnt they took the original characters and mutilated them into a sick pathetic mess
Man I watched this today and didn’t quite enjoy it, I just need a 4K restoration of the original one pls
Oh hell nah!!

😢 how could you betray Brandon Lee? Very disrespectful 😒
- @@Superman72185 . Oh be quiet. Give credit where credit is due. The 1994 crow movie was just a remake of an 80's movie (I know you don't know which movie I'm talking about). The 1994 crow movie was a great movie. But it was not an original movie that came from an original idea. It was a remake.
@@CalvinW.Allison Which '80s movie was the 1994 Crow remaking?
- @@darlalathan6143 . I may be doing a review of The Crow 2024 soon. If so, I will disclose the name of the movie then.
@@Superman72185except there have been sequels and a tv series plus the creator of the comicbook has wanted a new adaption for decades. So no, it's not disrespectful to Brandon Lee
The OG Crow is an 9 out of 10 movie
More like a 7.5
I liked this film a lot. It never tries to replace the Brandon Lee classic; it aims to stand beside it and succeeds. Even comparing it to the first and ragging on it because isn't a duplicate of the first never is silly.
Who thought this reboot was a good idea
You are very wrong the new one is way better than the original.
The new one actually showed how they met and showed their relationship in reality.
The original was very lazy of telling the story of Eric and Shelly’s relationship all through flashbacks.
This new one shows the transformation of Eric becoming the Crow. I give the original 4 out of 10 and the new one 8.5 out of 10. The new one is way better.
I disagree w/ your assessment of the original Crow's villains, I thought they were each very unique & memorable.
could you rank the pirates of the caribbean movies ❤❤❤
I read the title of this video and laughed 😂
the 90's EALY 90's this movie is 30 years old, CGI wasn't that good, it didn't have the hype or budget that say batman would have (it was kinda an inde Goth comic that wasn't super huge from the 80s) the sound track made it more epic, people seem to forget: things do age thingy stray and change from the OG content (the comic was different in some parts to the OG real Crow movie)
The Crow should have stay in the 90s! or at least The Eric Draven Crow , the comics had other 'crows' could have done a gritzy modern crow movie with a new crow based of one of the other crows
3/10 for me
I’m gonna say this respectfully sure the new one is awfully but I like them both respectfully both movies are amazing ^^
The Crow 1994 Real love ❤️ is Forever ♾️ 😌
The Crow 2024 Plenty Of Fish Date 😒💔
I agree!!! The new movie was a waste the last 30 were great but still not worth it
You know your adaptation is bad when even the direct to VHS sequels were better.
True!
I'll save you all 11 minutes and 45 seconds. NO IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.
I liked it
Nostalgia for the original isn't even neccessary to know that this remaks is just B-A-D!
That question is complete disrespect 😂 of course not 😊
The Crow is way better than The Crow.
I’m going to be honest I like it more than the original.
Me too !!
And that's why you have terrible taste and don't know what a good movie is.
