Everything that a Gothic movie should be. Magical, rich, darkly fun, and the beautiful version of sadness. It doesn't get much cooler than someone with a crow on his shoulder playing an electric guitar on a rooftop silhouetted against the sky.
At 4:52 you can see rain in the background, even though he is indoors.
That is because Brandon Lee was already dead before shooting this scene.
They had to use an outdoor scene of him with special effects to make it look indoors.
The mirror/rebirth scene is also special effects.

I've always wondered how many and which scenes had to be created and altered after his death. I knew it had to be more than just cutting and pasting his face onto stand ins, posing in the shadows. Everything looks normal to me I can't tell what's not real.
A bad example of that technique is in Jurassic park when the girl falls thru the ceiling tile when under siege by raptors in the visitor center. It's a stunt double that falls down and they pull her up. But the double happened to look up revealing she wasn't the actress. So since it was obvious they cut and pasted the actress's face over the doubles and it looks very obvious to me from the first time I saw it.
I saw this when it originally came out. Despite all the darkness and violence, there’s also a deep romantic element to it. That may sound corny, but I think it’s ultimately what has made the movie last (especially considering Brandon Lee’s unfortunate death-I think this movie would have made him a superstar).

There is definitely a romantic element to the story. The creator, James O'Barr, started writing and illustrating it originally to help him deal with the death of his fiancee who was killed by a drunk driver.
The actor who played Funboy was the same guy accidentally killed Brandon Lee with the same gun he used in his hand.... During several interviews he talks about how he stopped do movies because of what happened and how truly sorry he was... in the interview about the movie you can see It in his face that he was suffering like even though it wasn't his fault, he blamed himself for pulling the trigger... Ever since that day, he's been haunted by that scene till til his death in 2016...

The armorer on the set should bear the responsibility of having accidently killed Brandon. Not the actor who was assured they had blanks.

There are two types of fake rounds used in movies: dummy rounds and blanks. The former is used when the audience needs to see the cartridge (e.g. the other chambers in a revolver, or the bullet with the "death" character on it in Replacement Killers). The latter is used if the gun needs to be fired.
A dummy round is essentially a cartridge taken apart, had the powder and primer removed, then put back together. The bullet in a cartridge is held in by crimping the brass shell casing around it to hold it in. A blank is a cartridge that has the primer and powder, the the bullet has been replaced with a paper cap (so the the powder doesn't fall out the front of the cartridge.
On the set of The Crow, a dummy round had been put into the gun used to kill Lee. However, the crimping wasn't sufficient, and so the bullet came off and got stuck in the front of the chamber or in the barrel. With a cursory look at the action, it would appear the the gun was unloaded - which it was. The problem was that there was a barrel obstruction (the bullet from the dummy round) which would have been discovered had somebody tried to look down the barrel (do it from the back - gun safety still applies. Later, this gun with the barrel-obstructing bullet needed to be loaded with a blank. Since the bullet of a blank has been replaced by paper, the action of the gun would still close and lock because nothing is on the round that could be stopped by the bullet.
A cartridge works as follows: The round is held in place and locked in the chamber so that it is a contained area - the front of the chamber is plugged by the round itself, and the rear is plugged by the locked bolt face. When the trigger is pulled, a firing pin hits the primer on the back of the cartridge, which in turn ignites the powder. The hot gasses generated by the burning powder can only escape the chamber down the barrel because the bullet is only crimped into place, and bullet is soft enough to be squeezed into the slightly smaller barrel. The hot gasses therefore push the bullet down the barrel which itself directs the bullet to the right direction by making sure the muzzle at the end of the barrel is pointed at the target because the bullet is being pushed by the gasses in that direction. When it comes to blanks used in films, there must be enough powder in it so that the appropriate sound is heard, muzzle flash is seen, and be able to cycle the action to load the next blank into the chamber.
On the set, the gun hot gasses generated by the striking of the primer of the blank and consequent ignition of the powder should have been pushing nothing. However, the bullet from the dummy round used previously was still there. Thus, the hot gasses generated by the blank pushed the bullet that had been part of the dummy round down the barrel, out the muzzle and into Lee, killing him. It wasn't that the actor was given live ammunition that was the problem - the gun was loaded with blanks. The problem was that a bullet of the correct size obstructed the barrel, and because it is a bullet could deform to engage the rifling as a bullet should when a gun is fired. There *is* a gun safety lesson to be learned here, but it isn't as simple as checking to make sure the gun isn't loaded with live ammunition.
"Abashed the Devil stood and felt how awful goodness is..." Such a chilling set of final words. T-bird knows after meeting Eric that there is indeed an afterlife and that he will be sent down for what he's done. His fear is the ultimate satisfaction of the scene

Yeah, i never directly associated it with Dark Knight, but now I see it. (There's some Robocop in there as well?) Maybe that's why i wasn't AS taken with Heath's Jokern

25:06 It is based on a graphic novel by James O'Barr, so yes it is an earlier comic book film. He wrote it to deal with the grief of losing his fiancé to a car accident. I think that genuine emotion carried through to the film (perhaps in part due to Lee's death) and really elevated the film above the generic revenge story it could have been.
Met him some years back. My copy of the comic is happily signed.
Film critic Roger Ebert gave this movie a positive review, calling it "a fever dream of a movie, it's like watching a feature length music video, and the Cinematography is so dark and gritty, it makes Gotham City from Batman 89 look like Emerald City."
The soundtrack for this movie is one of the best, definitely worth checking out.
The editing team and director deserve a lot of praise for putting this together with what they had. If or when you watch it again you'll notice a lot of moments where you know it's Brandon's stunt double and not him, but it's done so well you can't really notice on a first viewing. And of course there are a lot of blocking shots where his costars are probably trying to deliver the lines to someone else.
Rochelle Davis (Sarah) left the business for 15 years after the tragedy. She'd become good friends with Brandon in the few months they'd worked together and she was heartbroken.
The Crow isn't just a good goth movie, it really changed things when it comes to "superhero" adaptations. That's kind of what it is when you think about it. Before this they were all kids films with cartoon villains. It could be argued that this was the first real Superhero movie for adults.
Every track on this is gold, I can almost remember the whole thing by heart. Ahh, the 90s. 🧡
If I'm not mistaken, it was a comic as well. That freeze frame you guys didn't like - i loved it because it looked SO much like a comic book frame.
They had nearly everything. He was only scheduled for 3 more days, and all the scenes were in the apartment set. When you see a double it's either what it would have always been, or it's the stuff that they reshot.

There's a series of sequels of increasingly bad quality, but the soundtracks are all pretty solid (if you like goth industrial whatever).
Brandon's stunt double is kind of legendary now too. Two words: John Wick.
Brandon Lee is amazing in this, it's so sad that we never got to experience what his career would have become, if he didn't die. Heath Ledger definitely got some inspiration from this performance. Also, the whole movie is so well made. The shots in darkness, the rain, it's so well filmed. It's definitely groundbreaking in a way, a lot of films took some inspiration. I mean, there were other modern noir movies of course, but this is up there with the best.
The scene with T-Bird where he goes "There aint no coming back" over and over is so good. The absolute terror in his face and voice is so chilling, I almost feel sorry for him. Amazing job by David Patrick Kelly.

I love the crow. It has a unique atmosphere feeling and it's super goth too lol. But RIP Brandon Lee he was amazing in this and if he was alive still, he would been a big star just like his father.
The humor keeps it from being unbearably dark and painful. Brandon was so charismatic and soulful and intelligent. He really could've been a great one. The films he made previous to this one, Rapid Fire and Showdown In Little Tokyo are really fun action movies, but The Crow showed how much more he was capable of.
So happy you've watched this! An absolute cult classic. Really nostalgic for me. I watch it every year, on the night before Halloween. Perfect 'Devil's Night' tradition 🖤

RIP, Brandon Lee. He died while filming this movie. He was 28 years old when he left our world in 1993.
Ever since having seen The Crow upon its release, it has been one of my most favourite films. Not only because the performances are excellent, but because it’s visually stunning, has possibly one of the best soundtracks; & also because of what Proyas achieved.
The Crow was filmed somewhat back to front; with Brandon Lee filming all the scenes of him in make up first. This meant that the scenes of him without the now iconic make up would be some of the last filmed on the production; & sadly the last Lee would’ve ever film.
On March 31, 1993, Lee was filming a scene where his character, Eric, is shot after witnessing the beating and rape of his fiancée. Actor Michael Massee's character Funboy fires a .44 Smith & Wesson Model 639 revolver at Lee as he walks into the room. A previous scene using the same gun had called for inert dummy cartridges fitted with bullets, but no powder or primer, to be loaded in the revolver. For close-up scenes that use a revolver, where the bullets are clearly visible from the front, and do not require the gun to actually be fired, dummy cartridges provide a more realistic appearance than blank rounds, which have no bullet. Instead of purchasing commercial dummy cartridges, the film's prop crew, hampered by time constraints, created their own by pulling the bullets from live rounds, dumping the powder charge, then reinserting the bullets.
In the fatal scene, which called for the revolver to be actually fired at Lee from a distance of 12-15 feet, the dummy cartridges were exchanged for blank rounds, which feature a live powder charge and primer, but no bullet, thus allowing the gun to be fired without the risk of an actual projectile. As the production company had sent the firearms specialist home early, responsibility for the guns was given to a prop assistant who was unaware of the rule for inspecting all firearms before and after any handling. Therefore, the barrel was not checked for obstructions when the time came to load it with the blank rounds. Since the bullet from the dummy round was already trapped in the barrel, this caused the .44 Magnum bullet to be fired out of the barrel with virtually the same force as if the gun had been loaded with a live round, and it struck Lee in the abdomen, mortally wounding him.
O'Barr later remarked that losing Lee was like losing his fiancée all over again, and he regretted ever writing the comic in the first place.
In an interview in 2005, 12 years after the incident, Massee revealed that he still had nightmares about it, stating, "I don't think you ever get over something like that." Right up until his death several years later, Massee refused to watch the film.
Also, The Cure, who composed the song ‘Burn’ specifically for the film, up until only a few years back refused to play it out of respect.
Another cast member impacted by Lee’s death was Rochelle Davis (Sarah). She suffered with depression & substance abuse for several years following the films release; ending up homeless for some time. In recent years, she’s turned her life around & has made appearances at conventions.
After a great deal of soul-searching, Proyas and the rest of The Crow's cast and crew arrived at the conclusion that Lee would have insisted that they finish the film. With most of the actor's scenes completed, it was up to special effects house Dream Quest to fill in the blanks, which they accomplished in a number of ways. For the scene in which a newly-returned-from-the-grave Eric returns to his old apartment, for example, unused footage of Lee was used, with the actor's image digitally composited into a shot of the apartment set. For a few other key images, however, the effects technicians turned to techniques that were, in 1993, ridiculously cutting edge.
Proyas brought in a relatively green stunt performer by the name of Chad Stahelski, who had been good friends with Lee and had a similar build. For a handful of scenes, including the one in which Eric sports his eerie makeup for the first time, approaching his window as lightning briefly illuminates the room, Stahleski stood in for Lee during shooting. Then, Dream Quest used previously captured footage of Lee to digitally graft the actor's face on Stahleski's body. The resulting shots certainly benefit from their brevity and from the darkness in which they were shot, but even today, the effect holds up remarkably well.
Fun Fact: Stahleski would go on to direct John Wick. Makes you wonder, that had Lee not died, would he have been cast in the role??
Flawless movie and incredibly poignant. I am not a shame to admit that I shed a tear whenever I watch The Crow. Brandon was taken way before his time and would have been a huge star.

Guys it's about time y'all got around to this amazing film. This has always been and always will be my all-time favorite since the first day I saw it back in 93. Brandon Lee and his portrayal of this character help shaped my life and I owe so much of my accomplishments to the story of this film. "Can't rain all the time" has become such an inspiration to me especially in my older years.

I saw this the day it opened in may of 1994.
There was actually an episode of Unsolved Mysteries that explains exactly how and why Brandon was shot, and it was really an incredibly unfortunate series of little things that lead up to it. I recommend everyone check it out. I can only imagine just how big a star Brandon would be been, had he survived.
"Take your shot funboy, you got me dead bang" some epic lines in this one! when he goes after Funboy and he's letting the light bulb touch his forehead in the dark accompanied with the bass in the soundtrack is a micro moment that still gets me stoked! Such an iconic film.
My favorite line is "its not a good day to be a bad guy."
Damn I loved this movie when it came out. Probably watched it everyday for a few weeks. And the music..... still my favorite soundtrack

Definitely with Tom on this one. I saw The Crow in the cinema in '94 and have rewatched it countless times.
It stands as one of my favourite movies of all time.
There's something about the blend of action, comic violence and heartbreaking tragedy that elevates it way above a lot of its contemporaries.

This is my all time favorite comic book movie. When I was a kid, I was a huge Brandon Lee fan after Rapid Fire. I was devastated when he died making this movie. He was laid to rest on my 14th birthday April 3rd 1993. He had so much potential. The soundtrack is also my favorite film soundtrack and the score by Graeme Revell is amazing.
My inner goth is absolutely LIVING right now. I LOVED this movie when I was in high school. The soundtrack is fantastic too.
A wonderful cult film. The soundtrack is stellar. Tony Todd (Candyman) played the head bad guy's henchman. David Patrick Kelly, who played T-Bird (the one that Brandon strapped to the car and drove off the dock) was also Luther in The Warriors
Warriors was directed by Walter Hill. David Patrick Kelly, who played Luther in Warriors, was also in the Eddie Murphy movie, 48hrs, directed by Walter Hill too, where he also plays a character named Luther. He was also in Commando starring Schwarzenegger. He is also in John Wick, as the old man who comes with the cleaning crew.
Apparently Brandon Lee was a huge fan of The Warriors and got an extra little kick out of having David Patrick Kelly in 'his' film
You two NEED to review Alex Proyas' follow-up to this, 'Dark City'. Genuinely one of the best sci-fi films ever, and visually just as dazzling as 'The Crow'. Highly recommended for Cinema Rules!
It’s one of those very atmospheric movies that you just get totally immersed in. Maybe I’m biased, because the first time I watched it I was very little, but it’s actually one of those movies that brings you into its universe and makes you forget reality for a minute, even if it is incredibly sad.
The scene in Gideon's pawn shop is my favorite. From Eric's entrance quoting The Raven and his exit blowing it up. Just fantastic.
The scene in which T-Bird realizes who Eric is is absolutely haunting, the best scene in the film. It still gives me chills.
The crow is bad ass and the most goth movie ever and the comic is as well is perfect and of course the cure are in if you can’t get more goth and cool with burn

I'm so glad that this held up and that you guys enjoyed it. It's hard to emphasize how cool this movie was when it came out, the look, the soundtrack, the cinematography. There was very little like it before hand and it has been incredibly influential ( you guys were spot on about batman and heath ledger, in fact Lee's performance here has been cited as a direct influence from Ledger himself). Don't bother with any of the sequels though
Yeah, countless films have ripped this one off, but this is the only one I still watch every year on Devil’s Night. Seeing this in the theater knowing Brandon died making it was so sad. I remember not being able to hold back the tears anymore when the trick or treaters run around him with their flashlights and Proyas gave us that slow-mo close-up. 😢 The Cure and NIN still play Burn and Dead Souls at their live shows, and it always takes me right back to the scenes in this film. It’s the perfect snapshot of the dark, grungy, metal ‘90s that I’ll always miss.
Also David Patrick Kelly (T-bird who blows up on the car) is a classically trained New York stage actor. He used to recite works of Shakespeare on the spot with such vigor and talent. Also, he’s very famous for the movie the Warriors if you haven’t seen that you should add it to your list guys.
Brandon Lee did such an amazing job in this, and I’m certain that he would’ve achieved the goal he told his mom, sister and fiancé about: to be more than just an “action star”.
Lots of movies borrowed the aesthetic tone of this one. I agree the Dark Knight trilogy was clearly inspired a little bit by this one. Alex Proyas is a visionary Director - but mostly famed for others ripping off his originality. Biggest one was a lot of the Matrix borrowing (putting it kindly) the aesthetic of his other great movie, Dark City. You guys MUST check that one out too (Director's Cut is the best version), it's a lot like the Crow but less action, more noir detective story, but also way more Lovecraftian. Anyway, another banger of a reaction - thanks guys!
I was surprised by how well it pulls together in spite of Brandon's tragic death.
The grittiness of this era…I miss it 💜
One of my all time favorite movies. And yes, there's definitely some connection between this movie and the Dark Knight. From Eric Draven's look which was clearly an inspiration for Heath Ledger's Joker, to some of the shots that were literally taken from this movie, Crow signal on fire for example, and even the joke about Eric disappearing all the time. Another tragic connection is that both Brandon Lee and Heath Ledger died during the production of the movie, from which their characters are now iconic.
I watched this when I was 14. I lost my Dad at the age of 1 and my brother at the age of 10 and often fantasised about seeing them again so the idea of seeing a lost relative resonated with me. I only learned about the death of Brandon Lee months after which added another level of tragedy to the movie. It became my favourite movie the first time I watched it and is still my favourite movie at the age of 42.
Remember watching this in my teens & it’s a fantastic movie. The soundtrack is also great. No clash of tone. He returns from the grave as a being driven by pure rage and vengeance, but as it progresses and he interacts with people from his life he retains small portions of his humanity, his personality.
That 'She's Like CAWW' at the end😭😭😭😭😭. I swear i just rewind that part like 5 times, so freaking random. I love you 2 your crazy hilarious!
The musical score is quite amazing. The same composer, Graeme Revell, also scored the first sequel (the only one really worth seeing, despite studio interference).
This movie holds a special place in my heart. My sister was 7 months pregnant and we watched this movie together when it came out, we both loved it. She named her son Brandon Lee.
The Crow is one of my favorite action movies of the 90s. I kinda miss Brandon Lee from the incident. We seen much violence in movies and cartoons so far but at least it’s the best decade of making movies to this very day. I’ll give it a 10 out of 10. It’s a masterpiece of filmmaking. I hope you watch Dark City. The director's cut in particular. The Crow was fun on the big screen, and still gets watched at least once a year by me. Love the feel of it and the music is killer.
It's so great watching you both reacting to some of my favourite movies. The soundtrack of this film is awesome. "It Can't Rain All The Time" is often in my playlists.
The creator of the comic that the movie was based on, wrote it while dealing with the tragic death of his girlfriend, who was killed by a drunk driver. This was his way of dealing with the pain and grief.
I love that you mention the tone changes. Most modern movies aren't confident or passionate about the story they are portraying enough to do that. Peak 90's movies we're so unique because of those differences that all together made them special.
This is the first video of yours that I've ever seen. But, as a "Crow" fan, I stumbled across it and was curious to see your reactions. I first saw the film when it was released in 1994. I was nearly 20 years-old. Over the past 28 years, it's one of the films that's really stuck with me. I remember throughout the years watching it on VHS and then DVD with friends. Everyone that's ever watched it with me has thoroughly loved it. One friend even said that nearly every seen in the film could be a picture or poster by itself. The story is superb, and, as you stated, the score and soundtrack are phenomenal. I've owned both on CD for decades,...that how old I am. My last comment is that while watching you both watching the movie, it dawned on me that for as many people that have seen The Crow, there are an equal or even greater number that haven't seen it. I'm gonna guess that you two might not even have been born when it was released, and there are a vast number of people in that same boat. So, I was almost jealous or looked with admiration toward you both being able to experience this for the first time, and everything being so new to you. I've probably watched the movie 50 or more times throughout the years. So, for me, it's like re-reading or re-watching something you've memorized perfectly. The end says " for Brandon and Eliza ". That was Eliza Hutton, his fiancé. They were just about to get married.
It is interesting to see y’all pointing out the inspiration points that come up in different films. I watched this not so long after it came out, so I hadn’t really put together how much inspiration some of the new movies have taken from the crow.
A brilliant movie i saw it back in 1994 and never forgot it ... one of my top 10 all time favorites ! :P
I love how the character of Eric is done as a person who in life was loving and kind and humorous and in his resurrection he is the same person but gifted with the abilities to get vengeance. He didn't have to be this rage-machine with questionable humanity bent on revenge.
Another fun fact, the guy stealing the TV out of Gideons after it blows up is James O’Bar who wrote the comic. Also AMAZING soundtrack!
One of my favourite movies, Brandon Lee a huge talent sadly cut short! The majority of the movie was shot before Lee died, so there are a few scenes that had to be completed with a double and sfx.
Probably been said already but.....This is Chad Stahelski's first movie as a stuntman. He was asked to be Lee's body double after his death. Stahelski was also Keanu Reeves' stunt double in the Matrix movies. When Stahelski became a director and began the John Wick films he chose Reeves for the lead.

It was Stahelski together with Jeff Cadiente. They used Stahelski when they needed more upclose shots, but Cadiente did most of the work because he was a more experienced performer. There are production photos of Cadiente wearing a Brandon Lee mask on set for the reshoots.
Devil's Night was a real thing back in the 70's thru 90's. The night before Halloween was a traditional night for vandalism, but in Detroit it escalated into arson and home invasions. By the 80's it was associated with hundreds of fires, mainly bonfires and cars, but including homes and businesses. In the mid 90's the city organized 50,000 volunteer force to patrol Oct 29 thru Nov 1 that didn't stop the fires but brought them at least down to the national average.
I'm so glad you guys liked it so much. I'm a bit older and remember going to see this in the theater back when it came out and I loved it as well. It's ashame that Brandon was taken when he was probably fixing to break big, just like his father before him.
Heath Ledger said he used parts of Brandon's performance in this film for his Joker in The Dark Knight
Rip Brandon Lee. Both you and your father were a true loss and died too soon. On another note I really feel for the guy who played fun boy. The trauma of having been the man who accidentally killed him, can’t imagine, he quit acting and what not. Nearly broke that man apparently
This is one of those films that they have no business remaking.
T-Bird's death is hands down the best scene of the entire movie. It's amazing. The actor playing T-Bird is from The Warriors as well. Just throwing that out there.
And the guy Arnold drops off the cliff in Commando!
Mofo is Jerry Horne from Twin Peaks. He plays these quirky bad guys so well.
As a point of reference, this movie is set in Detroit Michigan on Oct 30, a night that for nearly 100 years was referred to as devils night. From the late 1960s until well into the 2000s that might accounts for more arson and vandalism than any other night of the year. Hundreds of buildings burned each year on this night until the late 90s when the mayor started "angels night" where up to 50k volunteers patrolled the streets all night to help prevent it. By 2021 only 3 buildings burned.
The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. This film was perfect the way it is and does not need a remake
I got to see this a month before it hit the theaters. I was a a comic book retailer convention and James O'Barr was there for the screening. The whole theater was filled with comic creators and shop owners. When Eric Draven light the fire on the ground there was a standing ovation in the theater. Hands down most memorable experience I've ever had at a movie.
"Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children." You guys should have included that scene with the mother, just for that line.
This is my absolute favorite movie ever. I mean, it’s a revenge film, an action film, comic book adaptation, and especially a romance film. It just hits all the right notes for me. In fact, I have quite a bit of a collection of memorabilia and media. All the movies, all the soundtracks and original scores, the tv show, the comics (including the crossover with Hack/Slash), a cosplay, some posters, various clothes, a few figurines, and a bust of his head.
The soundtrack of this movie will always be one of the greatest.
The crow is one of those films i never got to see growing up. Wasn’t allowed to rent it from the vhs shop cus it was an 18. Same as the first terminator film. Wanted to watch them so bad 😂😂
This and Crow: City of Angels are still to this day in my top 5 soundtracks. Iconic bands and music.

Fun fact that the main long haired bad guy in this just recently popped up in Nope by Jordan Peele. I recognised him just because of that voice, he plays the film maker who joins them at the end of the movie to film the alien.
Only seen him in these two films, almost 30 years apart, but his voice is so distinctive he was immediately recognisable.
Another 90s film with a similar vibe which you guys should really enjoy...it is a modern day noir film called *Dark City.*
Furthermore, one of my all time favorite films is also a film which is set in the nighttime... *The Warriors...* and David Patrick Kelly appears in both films as a villain. He is the quite famous, _"Warriors...come out to play-ay!"_ guy.

The "Dracula" actor Michael Wincott played Guy of Gisbourne in the Costner Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves film, and Rochefort in Disney's underrated Three Musketeers a few years prior to this. He also played a similarly dark character a few years later in The Count of Monte Cristo. He's also popped up in a lot of other films like The Doors, Strange Days, and Hitchcock. Pretty good actor, if kind of typecast. The actor who played T-Bird (David Kelly), who died in the car, had similar scene-stealing performances in the very worthwhile (if kind of cheesy) films The Warriors, Commando, Flirting with Disaster, and his tour-de-force of villainy, Dreamscape, but you may have seen him more recently as Charlie the cleaner in the first two John Wick films (sadly, like Alec Baldwin recently, I believe he was the one holding the gun that ended Brandon's life, although unlike Baldwin, he was not held accountable in any way, and it was the wadding of the blank, not an actual bullet, that did the damage - too much powder, too much wadding, too tragic for words).
You might give Brandon's movie Rapid Fire a look someday, or even Showdown in Little Tokyo (where he co-starred and easily stole the show from Dolph Lundgren), neither being award winners by any means, but both showcasing what Brandon could do - bring the comedy and mix it with VERY inventive and explosive 80's action. His death was such a tragedy - the Wachowskis originally wanted him to play Neo in The Matrix films. With all due respect to Keanu, Brandon's Neo would've been MIND-BLOWING. I would not be surprised if Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger were in some way inspired by this movie with The Dark Knight.
The scene where he walks in the room with the bad guys assembled immediately reminds of the similar scene in Nolan's film and the resemblances between the character of Eric and Ledger's joker are uncanny.

Like 2 days ago, I was walking home, with my phone on shuffle and It started to rain. The main song from this came on and I’ve got to say… it was a very dramatic 3 minute walk/run home in the rain 😂😂😂 Then I go on TH-cam today to see you guys reacting to it! Haha
YES!!!...YES!!!...the one film I've always been asking them to watch and they finally did it. But yeah it's such a great movie and what's creepy is that the movie was like a reflection of Brandon's death and it made people believe that the movie was cursed...I mean it's even strange that Heath Ledger took inspiration from The Crow for his Joker's character and he ended up dying when making the joker role from the dark knight. The beginning part which they filmed last where you see Brandon having a flashback of him getting shot in the apartment is when he died for real by getting shot by the gun that wasn't suppose to happen...and he was the first dead actor to be replaced by computer graphics. But yea a great unique movie...RIP Brandon Lee

I remember seeing this when it came in the cinema. I was 18 and too this day, it's one of my favourite films. The soundtrack...not sure if there is a better one out there. "The album featured covers, including Nine Inch Nails who covered Joy Division's "Dead Souls", Pantera who covered Poison Idea's "The Badge", and Rollins Band who covered Suicide's "Ghost Rider", which is about a Marvel Comics character. Rage Against the Machine re-recorded their 1991 B-side "Darkness of Greed" and renamed it "Darkness" for this soundtrack. My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult re-recorded their original song, "Nervous Xians" and re-titled it, "After the Flesh" for this film. They were also the band onstage during the nightclub shootout scene. The Cure also wrote the song "Burn" for the movie. Stone Temple Pilots originally intended to re-record a song off their Mighty Joe Young demo, titled "Only Dying", but instead chose to submit the track "Big Empty" to the project when Brandon Lee was accidentally killed on-set during production. Medicine re-recorded their song "Time Baby II" for the film's soundtrack album as "Time Baby III", which featured guest vocals by Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, although the original version is performed by Medicine in the film. "It Can't Rain All the Time" was co-written by Jane Siberry and the film's composer Graeme Revell, performed by Siberry. An orchestral version of "It Can't Rain All the Time" can be heard in the film multiple times.
The inclusion of songs written by The Cure and Joy Division are notable because the influences of both bands are present in the original comic book. James O'Barr, the creator of The Crow, reprinted the lyrics to the song "The Hanging Garden" by The Cure on an entire page, and some chapters of the comic book are named after Joy Division songs - "Atmosphere" and "Atrocity Exhibition", for example. In one panel, Eric even quotes a lyric from the song "Disorder" from the album Unknown Pleasures. O'Barr was a big fan of both bands when he was creating the comic book."
Saw this when it came out, regular rewatch. Proyas, the cast and crew were essentially 'B' level with a lower budget (in terms of industry standing, not talent) and made a labor of love on all levels. Amazing vision, amazing set pieces and style, using every facet of creativity to make it work. Also one of the best soundtrack albums of all time.
Don't they DARE to remake this movie and put a shadow over the original! Brandon Lee deserves to be the One and Only Crow!

The guy in the car is David Patrick Kelly, and you must see his villainy in the incredible gang thriller “The Warriors”. An incredible film.
This movie, changed the look of cinema, it made Industrial Rock Mainstream with acts like STP and NIN switching from the grunge aesthetic to the black leather latex looks.
And the Soundtrack, is still an perfect ensemble album, with some songs being made specifically for the film.
Fellas, You just watched a movie that defined an era, a benchmark for all movie to come, because truthfully, there were movies before the Crow and movies After...
