As an Australian, in answer to your question about the realism of these films, I always just thought they were documentaries about everything west of Broken Hill.
Passed through there a couple of years back, and they had a mad Max museum, either there or it was a nearby town... But yeah from my understanding it was basically a documentary
I personally love praetorian Jack because he is probably the reason why furiosa in fury road warms up to max and trusts him. She see’s praetorian Jack in max
Currently replaying that game (for the third time) and it’s so damn good and I can’t put into words how well it aged, I can only compare it to the feeling of playing Uncharted and going “it’s old asf but it feels good”.
As an Australian, the franchise is really faithful to the country, the first movie is damn near perfection representation of the country especially in how out numbered the police are to the criminal (maybe if becoming a officer didn’t cost upwards of $300 then maybe they’d have more members 🤷♂️)
Thunderdome is A-tier. It's like two movies in one, and what you call "bad writing" is instead a brilliant way to weave together two different and largely unrelated stories. It's my favorite of the franchise, and I love Tina Turner's sympathy.
The dead people max sees from fury road are from the mad max game from the same year, it's also cool that we saw the final boss (scabrous scrotus) in that game as a character on furiosa before max killed him
Beyond Thunderdome had a lot of behind the scenes issues. Byron Kennedy, co-creator of the Mad Max franchise and George Miller's friend, died in 1983. George Miller was grieving but production of Thunderdome was already underway so Miller brought in a friend to co-direct. As a result, they mixed in a lot of ideas from different stages of development. Miller also didn't have as much control of the film, so the studio made Thunderdome a PG-13 movie to try to make it more mainstream.
IMO Mad Max 1 - F Tier Mad Max 2 - C Tier Mad Max 3 - F Tier I dropped it halfway through Fury Road - A Tier (I could elaborate if anyone cares) Furiosa - B Tier
Good video Nick. But i gotta say: Brian Mays Score to MM2 totally fits the action in my mind. And the tone of the film. It sounds like a soundtrack to some much older Viking-Movie with Kirk Douglas f.e. and when i saw the movie as a kid, i thought of the music as "oldtimey" / not fitting, too. But it grew on me with every watch and now i see it as one more representation of a fall back to "dark times", before the order of civilisation. It made the film for me, just like the action.
Furiosa is tonally a cross between a super hero movie and Mad Max if you look at it like that its pretty cool I realize how much baggage the movie has why people dump on it
@@mjhernandez984 I can agree with that. It's a different flavor, but the same great pieces. I think on rewatch I'll like it more for sure. But I already love it.
I will agree Dementus is pretty slow witted, trying to take over the citadel the first time was a hilarious failure, having his horde completely lose a significant chunk of itself with the mortifier defection, trying to attack the citadel the second time went even worse when he lost everyone except a small handful of men at the end that died in quick fashion, nothing ever went right for him. Given, fitting ending, as someone who took, now cursed to provide, in a very very specific way.
Mad Max 1979 is low key A Tier. "They say people don't believe in heros no more.. well damn them!" -Captain Fifi basically sums up the whole franchise. 😅
I’ve seen all of them besides Thunderdome and I find it kinda baffling that they’re all directed by the same guy. The last two films were just in a different league altogether.
I wasn't a fan of Fury Road for one reason...Max has no personality in this film. Max is just the guy who drives stick. My friend said it best when he said he felt anyone could have played that version of Max, Still prefer the original trilogy
Good analysis of the 5th film (other than that I liked Praetorian Jack). It has a lot to love, but its flaws indeed bring it down to a good, not great, film.
Thought you’d throw some woke bs about furiosa. Stand corrected. Great take. Thunderdome has that part with the kids I felt was like the ewoks in TROTJ. Still inventive. Giving more time, could have been a classic.
I'd have max3 above 1 , 1 was more good coz you'd watch a B movie and realise how good it was and I'd recommend the version dubbed into American for lolz. Also having visited Australia I'd say they are none a like, in the Max films every Aussie person is trying to kill you but in real life it's every non person that's trying to kill seriously they seem to have the deadliest version of very animal / fauna.
The best ones are the first two Thunderdome is weird and not as good Fury road is over done and overrated,it’s a shiny turd that’s on par with thunderdome Furiosa is another over done piece of garbage that isn’t what the fans wanted

Both are Road Warriors
Fun fact :- Even the Mad Max 2015 game is also an underrated masterpiece which was never appreciated lile movies
Currently replaying that game (for the third time) and it’s so damn good and I can’t put into words how well it aged, I can only compare it to the feeling of playing Uncharted and going “it’s old asf but it feels good”.
I'm playing it for the first time (got into a mad Max mood after watching furiosa) and it's fucking awesome
I don’t give a damn if the film makes $1 we better get one last masterpiece in this world from Mr. Miller 🙏🏻
My Ranking:
1. Road Warrior
2. Furiosa
3. Fury Road
4. Mad Max
5. Beyond The Thunderdome

Beyond thunderdome is the worst of all of the films imo… it’s boring and no cars
My mans you are delusional
Furiosa bombed at the box office and lost over 200M dollars ,it reached 172M dollars over a 162M dollars which means mad max cant make more sequels.
Nick's the type of person to say it's ranking time, and rank all over the place.
This shi was funny maybe 2 years ago bro
Furiosa is the best george miller movie yet for me. It's the whole package. It makes fury road better too.
I'd argue George Miller's best movie is Happy Feet
@@AnotherNickMovies Pig in the city.

I heard Miller directed the action scenes only
17:29 the visions he has r of people he meets in the video game and the prequel comic that came out alongside fury road
it is amazing that such an interesting series has so few entries.
IMO
Mad Max 1 - F Tier
Mad Max 2 - C Tier
Mad Max 3 - F Tier I dropped it halfway through
Fury Road - A Tier (I could elaborate if anyone cares)
Furiosa - B Tier

Furiosa is phenomenal.
Furiosa is tonally a cross between a super hero movie and Mad Max if you look at it like that its pretty cool I realize how much baggage the movie has why people dump on it
good. now redo this entire video without ever comparing furiosa to fury road.
Furiosa is better than Fury road
You can leave then. Furiosa is great. Fury Road is a masterpiece. But that doesn't take away from Furiosa.
@@TheLastPrime38 Furiosa is a master piece on its own
@@mjhernandez984 I can agree with that. It's a different flavor, but the same great pieces. I think on rewatch I'll like it more for sure. But I already love it.

i only watched furiosa that came out this year, it was amazing, also nice video, keep the good work.
Ooo. Definitely watch Fury Road if you haven’t yet! It’s a certified banger.
i probably will, i heard that its amazing
how lucky you are, you will see divine Fury Road 1st time in your life! Remember Me!
Mad Max 1979 is low key A Tier.
"They say people don't believe in heros no more.. well damn them!" -Captain Fifi basically sums up the whole franchise. 😅
You left out “Waterworld: Mad Max Global Warming.” Incredibly underrated and unappreciated. My favorite Mad Max movie without Mad Max. 🤣🤣🤣
I had to. That movie is too powerful.
How about the other mad max film also starring Kevin Costner where he has to deliver some mail?
I will never stop hating on the fact they teased the war between immortan Joe and Dementus and don’t deliver.
good video
Thank you!
Mad max was sort of homaged in the 2004 Punisher movie. Honestly, there origins are similar so makes sense.
Furiousa is great man what. Every 10 minutes I was like “damn this movie is gorgeous”
My ranking:
1. Fury Road
2. Road Warrior
3. Mad Max
4. Beyond Thunderdome
5. Furiosa
I’ve seen all of them besides Thunderdome and I find it kinda baffling that they’re all directed by the same guy. The last two films were just in a different league altogether.
Mad Max 2 shound be at #1. Fury Road is just a remake of that movie.
I was not aware Fury Road is almost 10 years old now, dude wtf
George Miller don’t give a SHIT about continuity.
I like all the movies I enjoyed them all and the game is underrated as hell
0:59 no it’s not
Lies
Can confirm it is. Just less sexy
Nothing tells more about your age than calling Mad Max "slow and sluggish".
Yes this is what Australia is like
I loved furiosa
Bold move doing a Mad Max film without Mad Max.
It’s called Furiosa. They added A Mad Max Saga because of dummies who can’t add two and two. Also, he’s in it.
Sense Kingdom came out, do a ranking of the planet of the apes movies
Uh how do you become a vigilante when there is no law? There was barely any in the first movie and none in any of the rest.
I was not let down by Furiosa because the trailers made it look so bad
my exact same ranking
I wasn't a fan of Fury Road for one reason...Max has no personality in this film. Max is just the guy who drives stick. My friend said it best when he said he felt anyone could have played that version of Max, Still prefer the original trilogy
Do one for the Jurassic Park franchise
I thought Pretorian Jack was an awesome character :)

I think the 1st and 2nd movie are the best and beyond thunderdome is definitely the worst out of all of them
Please do The Fall Guy movie review
Edit:I subscribed to u :)
Bro put the original mad max in c💀 dont get Americans to tier list Australian movies bruh
I'll make that deal, but only if Australians can no longer rank American movies.
Furiosa and Fury Road at the bottom
Furiosa is most definitely better than Fury Road
No... its not cool furiosa has a bumbling fool of a man.
It's saying "women need it easy. Let's play on a lower difficulty"
🦍
The original Mad Max films are better
I like the comparison to James Bond, pretty sure it has been confirmed there is no real timeline.
Yeah the Mad Max films are basically post Apocalyptic campfire tales.
Furiosa is boring. Worst movie of them all. And Dementis is unwatchable.
First two are good ... later ones not for me
Ummmmm, NO. Throw this away and USE A DIFFERENT APPROACH…..
no lol
Furiosa was magnificent
Fury road is overrated
It took me 9 years to watch it, its not overrated at all.
Fury Road is the worst movie I have ever seen at the cinema. So boring, just a stuntman circle-jerk.
Here we go…
The best ones are the first two
Thunderdome is weird and not as good
Fury road is over done and overrated,it’s a shiny turd that’s on par with thunderdome
Furiosa is another over done piece of garbage that isn’t what the fans wanted
You do not know what are you talking about!!
film ranked....
1 Mad Max
2 Road Warrior
I super dislike Liam hemsworth, really sucks the life out of everything he is in
Good thing it’s Chris Hemsworth
Video is too long. There are only 3 Mad Max films to rank, not 5. There are 2 Mad Furiosa fantasy films sponsored by... 'you know who'.
thanks. now never rank again
