  • Replacing the High Pressure Fuel Pump in my 2010 Porsche Panamera. This procedure should be relatively the same whether you have the 3.6 6 cylider or the 4.8 V8 NA/Turbo. (I'm replacing the HPFP in my NA Porsche Panamera 4s in this video)
    PARTS NEEDED:
    High Pressure Fuel Pump: 948-110-316-HX rennch.com/hpfp
    Camshaft Plug: 948 105 114 00 rennch.com/camplug
    Note: All of the OEM HPFP are "remanufactured" now. That's what the "HX" means at the end of the part number. Not to worry, they are factory conditioned and ready to go.

    This is a Porsche 911 restoration that was abandoned in 1994 after being converted to a race car. My plan is a twin turbo Subaru EZ30 porsche engine swap with 400+ HP to the wheels. Stay tuned.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I learned the hard way not to use a Walmart or Amazon HPFP as they do not have enough boost to start the car . Implausible errors, I used the factory pump and it ran like a rocket. Thank you again. 2010 P Panamera S here.

    Great video. Looks like we could DIY this if we didn't have already have our miata in pieces in garage for clutch repair. Our 1st gen Panamera S has a P1023 fault code, error message Reduced Engine Power, hard start, in and out of limp mode. Mechanic is diagnosing as low pressure fuel pump because "fuel pressure is dropping 1200-1500kPa after shut down indicating a leak in the low pressure fuel delivery system" although he admits he has low confidence in this diagnosis as he's more of a 911 shop and is suggesting taking it to a dealership since they see more panameras. Most of the info online for this code points to HPFP. How did you diagnose your problem? Any advice would be appreciated!

      I can see many hours labor and full dealer msrp on parts plus diagnosis would have made this very very spendy if you didn’t have the skills to take it on.

    • @rennch.
      @rennch.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Gray I think it’s $4k at the dealer. As far as skills...if you can turn a wrench right and left you can do it.

    • @davidgray5583
      @davidgray5583 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I started wrenching there was no internet and no forums and information hard to find. I learned by doing and some hard lessons with expensive parts. I still work on my own vehicles and with the quality of content on TH-cam nowadays, I am taking on jobs I would never have dreamed of. Looking forward to your next episode on the 911 race car. In the interim I will be replacing the “coffin” arms on my C4S without a lift in my driveway :-)

    Great video, mine is a 2014 model 4 with only 35K miles and looks like the pump needs to be replaced. I would have expected the pump to fail at a higher mileage and not at 35K. A very expensive part and lots of effort to replace it.

    Can PIWIS separate low pressure pump and high pressure pump ?
    If low pressure pump is unnormal and high pressure pump is normal in case of replacement for high pressure pump, the work is to be wasted.

    did you have to recharge the ac system after unplugging the two lines?
    or bleed the cooling system if any of the coolant lines were removed?

    Is this the same breakdown procedure to get to rear bolts on the valves covers to replace the gaskets? I need to replace a leaking spark plug which will require me to replace the entire valve cover gasket and I have no idea how to remove it due to the rear being so closed in that I can't even get a wrench back there. Plus I can't find a TH-cam on replacing valve cover gasket on a Porsche Panamera Turbo. Thanks.

    Oh...Porsche engineers...why you gotta put the fuel pump wayyy back there ? It could be worse. Try replacing a fuel sending unit on a Nissan Xterra...it's inside the gas tank. Ridiculous. Good video - thanks for putting this up !

      Porsche has one or two low pressure fuel pump(s) in the gas tank as well.
