learn to play basketball. Defence isn't insane, pulling the usual 2k cheese is insanely hard because it isn't real basketball, therefor 2k19 is tough has hell for SOME to play.
Diamonds Finest The thing for me is I can usually get a feel of the defense and I have all these potential hesitations, crossovers, etc running through my head that I know will shake off my defender. The thing is I only know them in my head I dont know how to perform the exact moves I want at the time I want to because I’m unfamiliar with the dribbling side of 2k
All y'all must be new to 2k. It's been like this for the last 3 yrs. Also it's always best to put ya dribble layup stick to absolute so no matter where you are on court down is always away from basket, up is always towards basket etc. This is particularly good for sideline veiw and any other veiw than the one being shown.
How do you get those animations from the teammates at 7:36 & 7:43 where the teammate in the corner yells “I’m open” or it’s a “mis-match” is that a setting you can turn on?
Hey Sam, any initial observations on help defence? From your clips I'm seeing an extra defender, aside from the centre, come over to help, leaving shooters on the perimeter. Asking because I've yet to buy the game this year. Still feeling pretty let down after last year!
Hey man, can you make a video of how to make a certain player the play initiator? im not talking about when ur past the back court but when the other team scores nd when the 2 guards are ready for the inbound pass, how do u make it the forward everytime? cause every once in a while the 3 will be the guy who runs the point but thats like 20% of the time. i have never seen a youtuber post a video on this topic nd on reddit all ive seen is “the only way to do it is to put the guy u want to come up for the ball as the point guard” nd ik there is another way. cause whatever lebron team ur on he will come up for the ball like 45% of the time. ive tried to adjust the freelancing settings for the specific players “touches” nd that doesnt work. ive tried to lower the point guards “touches” nd that doesnt work. ive changed the settings vitals where it says “play initiator” to “yes” nd again than the specific player only comes up 20% of the time. so somebody needs to figure this out, im finally happy that when u run a play u can use the 4 as the ball handler in floppy sets for other players cause previously it would force you to pass to the guard but i still wanna know about this topic.
Dope video! Also to whom it may concern, playing on Broadcast camera will help you see driving angles better than 2K cam. It takes some time to get used to but you’ll be able to see the floor from a different perspective, which helps sometimes.
When i try dribble moves at half way line he keeps putting up a shot so i changed the stick to dribble moves only can you do all these lay ups without the stick
What direction exactly are you pushing for the cradle layup while driving baseline at 5:33? You say diagonal to the right but from this angle, does that mean up and to the left or up and up and to the right? The baseline is where I get thrown off because cradle is supposed to just be pushing it to the relative right, which in this case is the same thing you do to trigger a reverse.
Great question. If you are baseline but want to cradle then you gotta go diagonal on the side same as your hand. Since pushing it at baseline = reverse and pushing it back = floater. That is the TOUGHEST cradle to execute, will take some practice, if you really. Can’t do it then go absolute, which might hurt you on the reverses tho.
Yo Sam, big fan here. Was wondering, no one seems to know how to branch to floaters from euros, craddles, hop steps and spins. Any ideas? Devs said it would be available in 19.
Does anyone play with the right stick just for dribbling and do all their shooting with square? Because I need to know how to Euro and all that stuff with just using square for both shooting and dunking
Ok I have this glitch thing where I’ll go up for a layup and I could release it super early or like just before it hits the top and it will always say late release. Not making any layups because of it coz I think the metre is broken 😂anyhelp
Sam this lay up tutorial is dope! I watch your tutorials multiple times to understand the timing of every thing you teach and everything works to perfection. It’s seems as if you were pulling off the Sam Pham boost with Lowry off of the pick, is he capable of doing the boost? I know you said it only works on mismatches however I saw you pulling off some type of combo to explode. These lay ups are really effective this year. It seems as if 2k got rid of everything that could be spammed. Which is good, and makes for a more creative game, which You have suggested that we adapt. Which lay up do you find most effective? Seems as if the floater gives you the best chance to score, in all scenarios. Pham you killed another tutorial and you waste no time. Thank you!!!
Good eye Martin ! Yes i was doing the boost with Lowry however in an iso situation is useless for him vs Kyrie. You saw the "pham boost" worked well there b/c i added in the screen. I will need to make an update pnr tutorial to show how all that works. Is kinda complicated b/c you have to hold L2 while calling for the screen and also switching sides. I've found an op way to do it tho so keep an eye out for that one sometime next week :) Most effective layup is the cradle once you have the guy sealed to a side. like i said before defense ride animation is strong but a cradle layup going towards sideline is perfect counter to it.
I'm also curious to see what dribble and shooting packages you chose for your shot creator build. I followed the shot creator build but a tutorial on packages would be amazing. What works best for "pham boost: etc. Thanks for the prompt responses as well. I watch your tutorials with a keen eye. Lol
Just wanted to let you guys know about away to get past defenders. There is a secret hesitation move that let's you stop and change direction to get past defenders. While in motion just tap LT if you're standing still it will look like a hesi but you can use it to keep the defense from riding you. It also gives you angles to attack.
How do you address layup or shot feedback a lot of the time that states late, but the meter was half or not even full when you released? It still seems 2k shot make percentages is still random without certainty. Great video!
You can do that, if your a 2k player, absolute has kore control. U got muscle memory for that, and you remember it unconciously that your like the player, left hand is left right stick vic mversa
It'd be easier to keep it at absolute the controls would be The same regardless of the angle. The only thing that changes is reverse layups and that's on the baseline
2k made it way harder than it has to me, you have to use a certain button to Dunk, Layup, Floater, like 2k expects one finger to be on one side of controller, & the other finger on the other side of the controller, I just think it should do a floater if it needs to like the system thinks it's nessessary, we shouldn't have to press a button to do a certain fancy move. The dribble moves double behinds the back is the same way, if u try to do the behinds the back crossover like it should be, it's zigzagging, which is stupid, just do a quick behind the back crossover. Idk, but in my opinion, 2k made it way harder for the moves this year than it needed to be. Reply with what y'all think compared to me. 🙏🏼
8:09 floater
Stanley Stanley u the goat lmao i’m tryna get teardrops r
Thankyouuu
How do you do it
🙏

This is by far the best tutorial I've come across. No obnoxious music and clear speach directly to the point. You gained a subscriber!
2k19 is tough as hell to play
TheRamboss thats a good thing
That makes it fun and more rewarding

Walter Hubbard naw they changed up the controls a lot
Sideline view is for buckets

Where do u change that at bro?
Bro I can’t euro with square anymore it keeps pump faking
Thanks for these tutorials u post on TH-cam each year Dam Pham. It is truly appreciated.

Ow where's the hop step sir Sam Pham?
I stopped watching as soon as i saw you say put it on camera relative
why?
Personal preference i would never change from absolute

@@jeremypavlock4337easier this year, I used to not be able to play relative
What lay up package would you use for a my player guard ? I went and head and put it in Kylie cause of the video but no sure if there is better ones.
Wasn’t able to discern what was the determining factor on whether to do cradle or a reverse when driving baseline. Please clarify.
Do you need to touch scar to release the ball or the right sting
Omg this is what I been waiting on thanks SamPham you’re the Man 💪💪💪
“DYEGONALLY” you the man Sam keep it up lol
Having a shot meter on the reverse lay-up makes it even more OP for me. Not sure why, but people online never expect it.

I appreciate that just visit my channel whenever you need help that’s good enough for me haha
The MyCareer PG that I made doesn't eurostep anymore. I use to be able to just flick right stick right. Whats's up?
If you slow down a little coming off the screen you will have open jumpers all day as the big will be dropping back to protect the paint
6:14 nice footwork by brown tho

It sound like he really danced around ya question. He never said which direction he held the stick
Love these SamPham creating an Excel for all these tutorials to maximize my skill
can i get a copy of that excel lol ? Keep myself organized too sometimes i forget what tutorial i need to make next lol
How should i share it w/ you
I sent the file to your business email in your about section
Can you send it to me as well?
I fuckin love this game man just now going to bed at 6:24 am after dominating with the GOAT LBJ all night
For euro can't you just press left or right does it have to be diagonal
We need those defensive settings next
Absolute is the best option not camera relative. It will confuse you. Please y'all use absolute
If I have my shooting equipped to my right stick I can’t do dribble moves I just end up shooting
Can’t wait for the defensive settings to drop!!!
Did you rematch every time you did a new lay up because the score goes back to 0 and you’re still the same team against the same team.
What's the difference between the absolute vs. The cam
Yo Sam, big fan here. Was wondering, no one seems to know how to branch to floaters from euros, craddles, hop steps and spins. Any ideas? Devs said it would be available in 19.
Hii Sam Pham!! BIG fan of your videos!!
Can you make a drible and ankelbreaker video? 😉 With some of your FAV moves 👌🏀
Would you not just use absolute than?
Hey Sam, would you do a video like this one to demonstrate situation appropriate dunks?
This is so amazing and your sister has amazing handles. I’m notification gang now ✊🏿

do you know how to use freelance on myteam unlimited? do you think is a bug or on porpouse?
apparently they got rid of it online to prevent 5-out
Im working on getting acrobat and relentless finisher and such. What else can i do besides the euros and hops to up my acrobat badge?
Baseline reverse
Do you know an easy way to get green light
Can you do 1 for best dunks & dunk animations ?
What’s camera relative ??
Can you show it for each camera

Is there a freelance for pistol action? I’m sure you know of it, you should do a tutorial for it
What if your pro stick function is set dribble moves
Perry P then you won’t shoot my dude

When you shoot late the meter goes back down
I tried your freelance 1 offense but the guards hardly ever cut to the basket
Hey could you do a defensive breakdown video for 19 like you did for 18. Thanks Sam
Coming out this Thursday and Friday. Two parts
Today is the day. I’m hyped bro.
great video thank you sam
I hate playing online my game is depressing can't shoot can't stop people from making 3s my O is stagnant they hardly ever go in motion
Reverse layups don’t trigger for me when I point the stick towards the baseline on 2k cam
To me putting the controls on absolute is easier...so even if your coming from the side of the court you can flick down n do a floater still
Defensive tutorial needed badly I'm getter ripped apart on hall of fame.
For me on a float it makes me do behind the back dribble moves
Tyree Bonnett let off the turbo button
Start at the free line
So you don’t just double tap the shot button to euro anymore?
I believe double tapping the shot button now does a spin layup move
Why not just use Absolute? It's actually easier than camera relative tbh dribbling is super easy too.
I have always done camera relative because of better angles. Absolute forces you to subconsciously want to attack from the middle more
I have a question can you just put the controller on absolute
Yes but is less natural if you attack from the sides for layups you might suffer consistency issues
You can do that, if your a 2k player, absolute has kore control. U got muscle memory for that, and you remember it unconciously that your like the player, left hand is left right stick vic mversa
Came for the hop step 😥 anyone know how?
It'd be easier to keep it at absolute the controls would be The same regardless of the angle. The only thing that changes is reverse layups and that's on the baseline
That is true i just prefer up for reverse lol
Lol oh
What happen to the euro step into a dunk animation
Florvince Joseph do a euro layup but hold RT at the end
@@themiguelodon7206 R2
BillyClutch RT is Xbox doof
@@MilkIsDaBest more 2k users play ps4 lmao plus R2 is more simple the Rt and Rb

Are you gonna give us tips on nba2k20 when it comes out
Absolutely.
Will be doing that daily when 2k20 is out
Sam ... will this work on broadcast view?
Works better on broadcast view
Thank ya sir ... and for everybody that watches .. we appreciate u bru
How come when I double tap square it doesn’t do a spin move this year
Use turbo with it
Honestly the spin layup is a euro on crack, gets you open very easily
Spin layup always gets stripped by cpu
RespectThaGoat 2k, I’m talking about park and pro am
You didn’t explain the reserve layup correctly
Why, does the player slow down when attacking from the corners? Even with turbo.
More ground to cover
Good video very helpfull
Sam if you could please make another defense tutorial like 2k18 for 2k19 that would be fantastic 💯
Next Friday or Saturday most likely. Those take sooooo long to edit lol
hey where is the tutorial for the hesi stop crossover? thanks budd!
Go to my home page and find it on my all 2k19 tutorials playlist :)
Sam Pham NBA 2K19 Tips and Tutorial thanks bro.
Why does everyone use absolute? Genuine question....
I hate it myself. I'm 40 so I'm old school so I grew up on camera relative.
Because the controls are the same no matter where you're coming from...you flick down for a floater whether your driving from left or right
please jamal crawford layup package all lay ups including double behind the back, please :)
This video is beautiful
How to do Jamal Crawford layup ?
Need a efficient way to do these without pro stick
Love how you didn't include hop step thanks so much ❤
Cradle and euro would trigger version of it
Someone help why won't the floaters work?? All I'm doing is dribbling..
It just makes me dribble when I push the right stick down
Nobody puts the camera on camera relative.
Looks like the skill gap is back in 2k this year
Oh this year definitely especially 1v1
Camera relative? YUK!!!
This really helped me but I don’t like how he said MY Kyrie it made me uncomfortable
