I watch your startup video a couple years ago. This week, after throwing the software out of frustration into ether, (to no fault of your video) I finished my first model. Now onto my next overly complicated theme 🤣
it is 30 secs in and I am a beginner and only-this is exactly what I need. (yes I will listen to the before-you-start) because everything else what 3d. (I want to fit my furniture SIZES in a room.)
Hello Sketchup School:) I am a builder and general contractor in central Virginia. I am trying to learn how to make plans of my projects for clients and the local building officials. One issue I am having is the distinction between groups and tags and making sure that everything is grouped and organized like you advise, but it is difficult to get the basic grouping sorted out. Somehow my interior walls are automatically included in my exterior wall group... and I am having trouble with the entity info/tag/group cluster F*&!, is there a video specifically for this small but important task of grouping, tagging, naming?
So is there any way to ungroup or modify the group? I delete a window now and it deletes the entire floor plan. I’m using version Make 2017. Do I have to start all over again?
In SketchUp Free, typing measurements while using the Line tool works the same as it does in Pro. Please send a message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will try to help you troubleshoot why your measurements box isn't working for you.
I’m using line or rectangle or anything else with my iPad and I am not able to put the dimensions I want . No keyboard show up on the screen, do I need to get an apple keyboard for my iPad ?(I’m using the free web version)
Hi there - I can't seem to find the video 'SketchUp for Interiors Course' you mentioned 2:21 for using an existing floor plan from pdf to draw a floor plan. Can you link it? Thanks!
The first unit of the course starts here: www.sketchupschool.com/sketchup-tutorial/sketchup-for-interiors-create-2d-floor-plan There are 6 total units to the course, and you can access it with a membership to our Video Course Library: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library
Thankyou for this method of teaching , as a beginner I understand how to create floor plan on sketchup But rather than this I want to know about proper measurements that - Like if I want to make a floor plan for 500 square yards for taking an instance So what's the overall measurements in each and everything , so can u upload that proper measurements video through which I understand the whole process because without proper measurements I can't create proper floor plan according to the need of client .
To vary lineweights, you'll want to take your SketchUp model into LayOut. It's the 2D documentation application that is bundled with SketchUp Pro and together with settings in SketchUp, you can set-up different line weights.
Hi, thanks a lot for the tips, I have a problem with sketchup free it doesn't allowed me to write down the longitude in the bar, I don't know why, someone can help me pls
OK I’ve tried to follow your instructions perfectly. You say the group everything and you say the name the group I can’t figure out how to name the group I see that fox shows up on your screen to name the group but on my brand new version of sketch up it doesn’t.
I am having trouble with vray while rendering any animation. For the first 10-15 frames everything is fine frames are taking around 1 minute on average then I start to get a warning on the vray log window saying num samples per thread reduced to 327170, rendering light be slower then next frame reduced to 276348 then on and on until it reaches 32768 and at that point my renders are taking 10-20x as long each frame to complete then the first 10. This is happening when I render using rtx and cuda mode, doesn’t happen when using cpu. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.
I am trying to learn how to draw a line by using the drawing tool and typing in 25'. I click and let go, type in 25' and hit enter and the line is only as long as I have drawn. What am I doing wrong? Its' got to be very simple. Please help, If I cant even draw a line, I stand no chance of drawing a house!!!!
Started by saying "this video isn't for beginners", then went ahead and explained the use of the line and rectangle tools....................................
Super frustrated - NOTHING works ... I try and input the measurements as per the instructions and it wont accept anything in the measurement box - if i try and draw a line i can only draw up to 20" - I tried to "zoom" in/out but that function doesnt seem to work either - and a 20" limiter not particularly useful when my building is 60m ... no support button or chat bot ... watched the video a bunch of times - gave up
I wanted to like these tutorials but they are all extremely tedious, and covering mac/windows/free/pro options takes up so much time and so many unnecessary detours I always drop it at some point. I just can't sit it through.

you do not go into the bar and type. you start drawing the line, and then just type in your size.
How can I have my exterior walls fill in black either in sketchUp or LayOut?
If you add a Section Cut in SketchUp, you can then go to your Styles dialog and under the Modeling tab you can set your Section Cut Fill to black.
@@SketchUpSchool Can you please link a video for this?
OK I’ve tried to follow your instructions perfectly. You say the group everything and you say the name the group I can’t figure out how to name the group I see that fox shows up on your screen to name the group but on my brand new version of sketch up it doesn’t.
You can make it into a Component and name the Component. So right click and pick the option for Make Component.
