By far the best Danzig album (IMO). I was the first person in my family to get a nice stereo system with a CD player. Danzig III, Ministry Psalm 69, and Obituary The End Complete where the first CDs I got. Danzig III was the limited edition box set. Bodies, When the Dying Calls, and Anything are tops for me (Godless and How the Gods Kill being runners up).
@@thatmediocreguitarist 1 and 2 are tied for 2nd for me, with 4 being 3rd. Pretty much downhill from there with only good songs (from 5 onward). Maybe Danzig 3 is my favorite just because it was the first Danzig album I ever heard. But 1-3 are all great!
I got into Danzig when Lucifuge came out in 1990,so the day when Danzig 3 came out, me,and a buddy of mine waited outside this place called Hogwild Records to open to buy it.I also have the How The God's Kill limited edition box set too.

Probably because it resembles something from November-coming-fire but more Black Sabbath . I have a special place in my heart for this album. Plus I always love HR Giger artwork! Possibly my favorite album cover.

@@thatmediocreguitarist Also interesting to note is this album and 4 are tuned down a half step to e-flat. I'm not sure if this was intentional or it was just easier on Glenn's voice or to give the guitars a slightly heavier edge....
I'd have to say Left Hand Black is in the top spot for me funny enough, it's just too full on. I actually love the song Heart of the Devil too - to me it's like the bluesy heavy rock version of the song Quintessence by Darkthrone - the lyrics are like about the supernatural qualities of man and the singer is claiming their superiority. Seriously check it out, it has the same vibe haha. HTGK when he sings "they cannot end this morning, of my life...show me how the gods kill" whew, that's some lyric haha. I love the clean guitar piano and then the heavy chorus. Beautiful song. Dirty Black Summer I go back and forth on, but the chorus is amazing actually, I love that tremolo effect on the guitar, it's a very fun song to play too. Sistinas is a good date song, lol, every time I went for a drive with a girl when I was teenager that song would come on and then we'd find the parking lots up by the canyons and was always make out city haha. I remember when this album came out though, I was 12 and in 7th Grade (so yes I'm old) and when I got it, I thought it was the moodiest and darkest album he had done to that point. Generic opinion here but personally How the Gods Kill is not only the best song on this album but my favorite Danzig song period. Peak songwriting, great vocals, evil guitar, etc. I can only describe this song as art in its purest form.
