It's difficult to express just how much I love Bakesale and what it meant to me as a teenager in the '90s. It was everything I wanted music to be -- genuine, raw, emotional, melodic, and heavy at the right times. I've been revisiting those songs because of this podcast and they sound even better to me today. I teared up a bit listening! What an amazing achievement by all the guys in the band. Thank you Lou and Adelle for this show!
Love this, can't wait for part x... I listened along to the tracks as they were mentioned by Lou. (sorry Adelle, I chose his order to follow along to, rather than yours). I also tried to pull out the (his preferred) versions he refers to as it plays through. Fun times. While I do like the spotify podcast when i'm working, I much prefer to see you both talking and interacting on YT.
I love you guys! Lou is a big inspiration for me as a musician. Bakesale was my first experience with Sebadoh. But I want to know if there’s a special reason to “act surprised” isn’t on spotify, want to know this cus I live in south of Brazil, and buy the LP(dream of my) from here is just to expensive… again love you guys!
Bakesale and Superunknown are my two favorite albums of the 90’s. I left a three page essay comment on one of the previous installments so I’ll stop for now.
Remember staying up late to watch my favorite band on Conan O’Brien when I was a teenager. Was super excited that they were on TV and they squeezed in 2 songs. Bakesale was a killer album.
This album is the soundtrack of my freshman year of college. A good friend of mine sent it to me (mailed it) back then and we are still great friends today. There is not a dud on the album and I would struggle to place a song #15. I'd opt for tiers. Interesting how different their lists are and the differences from mine.
wait, are there Jason/Tara versions of "careful" and "shit soup"? gotta hear those. anyway here's my ranking: 1. mystery man 2. skull 3. temptation tide 4. give up 5. careful 6. rebound 7. not a friend 8. together or alone 9. shit soup 10. license to confuse 11. got it (those first 11 songs are in my Important Songs playlist) 12. dramamine 13. not too amused 14. magnet's coil 15. dreams
Found out a girl (bit it a crush) on my street liked sebadoh. She loved bakesale. I tried to convince her III was better. It was a fun debate but never got me anywhere. Lol
It was fantastic meeting you in Chicago, sorry you were under the weather - show was still awesome!
I demand more!
you should have Jason on the show to talk about Bakesale!

That'd be cool to get Jason on for one of these bakesale discussions.
Worth mentioning, the B side to the Skull 7". Jason has a song talking about Terri Jane, Punching Myself. Worth a listen.
