I would do the Evo III flywheel/jb if your not oem minded and 276°/276° schrick or equal catcam setup if you have a stock 215 engine with cf airbox. It brings out the best off the cf setup without losing down low torque/power. I started with a cf airbox and 3.5kg flywheel, it ended with a 300hp 2.5 S14 😀
Raj you must be well happy, like a new car feeling! Totally transformed the power delivery and the noise is 👌. Personally I wouldn't bother chasing a few more horses if it's not going on a track. The E30 M3 is iconic enough and true petrolheads know that. 🤙
I have two e30 m3s one with carbon airbox and one with stock airbox. Bothe have upgraded cams and both jumped up in power minimum 20% with the cam upgrades, so yes well worth it and they drive perfectly in traffic. The one running the carbon airbox has 292/274 cams, great compromise between low end torque and top end, and the one running stock airbox has 284/274 cams also drives great. In summary go for it you won’t regret it
The new intake would be complimented by a change in cams. However, you can also change the standard cam pulleys for verniered items. This will allow for more tunability. If it were my own vehicle, I would flow the head and put higher rise cams in it. Beautiful car.
If you want to improve throttle response and pickup of the revs, install a lighter flywheel. I have a JBR aluminum 3,5kgs flywheel and the response is much better.
Hi Raj, personally I wouldn't bother with the cams and I've worked on a rolling road and all cars smoke as you let off the throttle, if there was a problem your tuner would of told you, stunning car mate and 100% bbs's👍
I'd recommend a genuine sport evo flywheel next. I've read its great bang for the buck and you'll feel the difference alot. Sport evo whee's also. Just my .02 worth. What a Beautiful clean car!
Beautiful car ! Leighton knows his mapping 👍🏼 id leave the cam Raj maybe change it for a new OE cam as yours could just be worn as it is 30 odd years old 👍🏼
Nice video man, loved to see the process! Video could be a little tighter imo. About the cam, are there other (less aggressive) options that would fix the dip and maybe the top end without sacrificing the drive ability? Regards, Tonny
I'd get the cams done not like can't afford it lol, if i was you i'd buy some adjustable cam pulleys so they can we setup properly, makes a big difference when i had them on my RST, it will require another remap though, get it done and everytime you step in it you know you are driving the car at its best, also i noticed some blue smoke on the rollers, like someone said below its prob stem seals in which case perfect timing to get the cams and adjustable cam pulley fitted ;)
What’s with the torque curve around 3.5k , you can see somthing is going on there as the power curve also takes a slight dive ? Would like to see what the AFR is doing 😐
Raj your car is looking and sitting beautiful, leave the cams alone this car is all about head turning cruising, no need for speed when the car is this pretty
Case of damned if you do, damned if you don't re: the cams. Found myself in a similar position when restoring my Evo, but my dilemma was change to Alpha N or keep standard intake? I wanted my cake and to eat it. Wanted to keep the OE look of the Evo 2 engine but make it sound different, therefore, replaced the stock metal plenum with a carbon fibre one and installed a racing SuperSprint rear box. My Evo was the RHD Misano Red car at BMR when you popped in to have your Alpha N installed. Addressing your dilemma whether to change cams. Hearing you describe how you intend to use/enjoy the car involving B road dashes and shows, then I would leave the stock cams and invest in a little chassis tuning to make the car handle sharper/quicker for those B road fun days, and change its stance for those shows. Purple tag or Z3 steering rack swap for a quicker steering, and coil over suspension and a change of wheels/tyres. Our M3s are no longer 'fast' compared to more average modern cars, however, ours remain some of the finest handling. Would I rather drive fast in a slower but more exciting chassis or drive slower in a faster car? Unless of course you have the track skills of a Robert, Johnny or Steve, then go for the uprgrades that will increase that B road buzz. Enjoy it Raj.
@@SNWMBL The car certainly sounds different from stock. How much of that difference is down to the CF plenum is difficult to ascertain, because the stock exhaust was replaced at the same time with a SS Supersprint racing rear box and centre X pipe. The other noticeable improvement definitely on account of the CF plenum is the engine/throttle responsive which I imagine is due to the lower air temperature reaching the throttle bodies.
Only in England will they guy running the dyno be wearing a damn Cardigan sweater. LOL. You guys are special. OFFICIAL WORLD DYNO OPERATOR UNIFORM England : Cardigan Sweater Germany : Pristine White Lab Coat America : Hoodie with a big American Flag on it Japan : Biggie Smalls T Shirt
Leave the car as it is don't change the cams, its running nice and reliable, last thing you want is it to sound lumpy and not running right and might give you problems that you don't need.
I'd leave it as standard Raj.. it's not a car that your going to be burning rubber in so performance ain't key.. For the amount of horse power your gonna gain changing the cams.. is it really worth it????
Tbh there's alot you could do to the engine and it wouldn't be a waste of money. Oil pump fix - VAC racing Baffle Kit -VAC Racing Valve stem seals Cam Upgrade 50/50 Manifold. The list goes on and on .....

Totally agree - car is now transformed 👍🏽

Great to be able to finally meet you a couple of weeks ago, thanks for taking the time out of your day to say hello. Enjoy your Penguin stickers.
Thanks for the stickers 😊
Gotta hand it to you. That is the nicest M3 I have EVER seen. A lotta people have money and no taste. Yousir are not in that group. 👍
Thanks for the appreciation Barry 👍🏼
Totally agree with keeping stock cams. The airbox looks & sounds amazing. 👍
🙌🏼
the wheels are perfection. would not change.
What a great looking car and it sounds amazing. Best car ever made, i just love my 3er 89er #E30 sedan in Diamantschwarz. Oldskool never die.
My favorite is still the Vw mk2 golf gti...nice E30 n videos Raj.
Leave the cam. The cars for show and has enough go. Love it.
BMR are my local boys 🤟🏽

Leave the cam, you are winning right now 🤛
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Go with stock cams, polish and port the head. Then tune again. 💪💯
Bbs will fit like a glove 🥊
Agree 💯
Keep engine how it is 👌
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏽

What is the chatter like at idle?
BBS 👍🏻
BBS for the win 🏁
The smoke is probably the valve stem seals, good excuse to do the cams at the same time
Booked in for a check-up already 👍🏽

Leighton definitely knows his stuff - think we may replace the cam as you have suggested 👍🏼
love this car and your content on that note of wheel change ill go for the E30 bmw bottle cap wheel with widen extra lip on

I cammed my e30 325i and I regretted it. Too lumpy on idle, great when I was driving it hard. But you also lose low end torque. Definitely do BBS
Agree about the cam and BBS 👍🏼
Hello, nice car. What kind of seats are those?

Hi , Can I ask where did you get the direct replacement carbon airbox?
@@myob3339 Schmiedmann, Denmark.
Hey mate, I'm thinking about doing the stock carbon airbox replacement at the moment. Did it make much difference to the intake noise? Cheers!

Haha - so true 🤣🤣
I'd leave the car the way it is...enough power to enjoy...
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼
Strapless dynos😲... never seen a tuner watch the monitor more than the tune before..
raj id leave it stock for now and just enjoy the power it already has then later in the future possible upgrade it
No point of cams, its not gonna be a track car and its not gonna gain much. Car is perfect as is
Agree, don't think we need to upgrade the cams 👍🏼
Leave the car as it is don't change the cams, its running nice and reliable, last thing you want is it to sound lumpy and not running right and might give you problems that you don't need.

The car isn't strapped!! and blue smoke at the end of the run 🤔

Ps change the wheels and give me 1st refusal on them, my e30 m3 convertible is overdue a change of wheels
BBS RajS's lol, not really a fan of the wheels on it now. Get the classic OEM+ look back, they are a marriage made in heaven....
BBS is what we are thinking 🙌🏼
Leave it standard.... you have other toys if you want to go faster.
That’s what we think 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Die Ventilschaftdichtungen müssen neu
Don't do anything else on the engine. It will be a waste of money.
Tbh there's alot you could do to the engine and it wouldn't be a waste of money.
Oil pump fix - VAC racing
Baffle Kit -VAC Racing
Valve stem seals
Cam Upgrade
50/50 Manifold.
The list goes on and on .....
