If you have a script you might as well have it do all the calculations for you, including importing your other script to calculate time. Also argparse to pass -d for default to skip all the names. Code reviews are annoying but it’s out of love. Amazing insight from you as always!
I did originally set it up where if you name Cloud "D", it put defaults on all names, but I deleted that part before recording the scroll-through because recording the usage of the script would be easier to understand if I wasn't using shortcuts anyway
@1:46; I think I know why the textbox only renders 5 characters tue first frame, and 6 characters afterwards, though you may need to checj this against frames where it wraps back to the beginning. That is the newline character drops a line - and it's a character (Often "/n", but not necessarily always that.). That first 5 characters it's rendering? Right after the name "C", it's rendering a newline character to drop down to the next frame.
I thought this at first as well, but new lines don't count toward character count. If a character's name is longer than 5 characters, you'll still see only 5 characters on the first frame despite not hitting the first line break yet, also
@@DashRetro Huh - maybe they intentionally limit it because they have to bring up the dialogue box in the same frame, and so it's a subtle timing thing? That is weird that it's not that newline thing though.
With this information is a crime not doing the final Omnislash!
What you never thought you wanted to know but totally wanted to know.
Definitely gonna be listening to your 100% runs while I sleep. Great delivery and audio
Now this is the kinda thing I love to hide into the depths of my brain pockets. Thanks for putting in all this work!
"oh, no, was it almost 20 years ago?" ahhh... familiar existential crisis.
That's when the estimates were done. The game itself is 27 years old.
This is awesome, i love the work you put in on these, thank you 🙏
Great in depth explanation! Thanks for taking the time to make this. And gg Brutal haha
This is such a sick video. I love this kind of stuff. I'm glad to say that I am in the

@@DashRetro passing “D” to an input is still not the same as using ArgumentParser. I will fight you! 😂
If only calebhart42 saw this before he got a 7:04:00 as his PB pre-calm skip
Caleb did get a sub-7 pre-Kalm Skip, though! 2nd sub-7 ever www.speedrun.com/ff7/runs/yjgn6d3y
This channel needs more subs. Full stop.

You should apply for a PHD with that work.
thats about a 10% benefit
Fetty Wap tried telling us the answer to this question years ago in the beginning of half of his songs but nobody cared smh
dude,, you are a computer pro. Nice.
Summary: None.
If its only saving a minute why is this even a thing? Just make it a rule to leave the names alone lmao
Why make it a rule? Why not easily save a minute?
