Title correction: How a cat can tell these two guys are depressed
Me: am I a joke to u?

@@Kruxxy about to say that
They always ask ”how is my cat” never ”how are you”
"when a cat is depressed it's because there's something going on with them". Probably quote of the century.
Wtf I read this at the same time as the guy said it
Bband Dude is a total mouth breather
"When a cat is hungry, you can see it clearly, when it's eating food.......the same goes for thirst...when your cat is thirsty, it probably drinks......oh, and a very important sign is, when your cat needs to poo, it will poo...keep that in mind, ppl...........and when a cat is meowing, it will tell you something, so keep listening and respond to it exactly, like the cat told you..." 😝
Ma cK DUDE I swear same

My kitty was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes) and she was pretty unresponsive for a good 2 month period. She didn't eat, didn't play, didn't get angry with me. She is under treatment with light chemotherapy and some steroids and she is much better. Each time she bites me during petting feels like huge success :D You could tell that she was miserable before.
So sad to hear it,I hope she's doing better now.
Glad to hear she is doing better, wishing full recovery for your kitty cat.
We’re a few weeks away from losing ours to cancer…I hope yours recovers and lives a long, happy life.
glad shes doing better, i hope shes able to have a full recovery

Asking for a cat.
Just show the cat this video

True
Well, veterinarians is more prone to depression because of animals, them, seeing a cat is sad is already breaking their heart since they like the company of animals more than humans
It's defecating in unusual places
As someone who does not have a cat, I found this incredibly useful.
😂
I have two instances I can tell of our cats having had depression. One of our male cats, Simba, had a severe reaction to the monthly flee medicine we give them. It had given him a chemical burn across his shoulders. He ended up having to wear The Cone of Shame(tm). It kept throwing his balance off, he couldn't clean himself when he wanted, he struggled eating and drinking. After a couple days he just sat and laid down in the corner, even ignoring the kitten he had taken in and taught how to cat. It took almost two weeks for him to come out of it. Think it was a combination of us figuring out that petting him with a rubber or latex glove wetted with a baby wipe was a good substitute for cleaning him, the wet food we gave him to entice him to eat, him learning to walk and jump with the cone, and him realizing that he now had a shield to protect his food from Lexy, the kitten 😂
The second one is sad.
Simba passed during the night *very* suddenly (we think it was a brain aneurism) almost 7 years ago. Lexy did not take this well at all. Lexy was the runt of her litter and got left out and bullied by her littermates quite a bit. When we got her, she was very shy and I genuinely think she didn't really know how to play. It took less than two days for Simba to decide Lexy was his kitten and student 😹😻 After that, they were inseparable. If you saw one, the other was just a few steps behind. Lexy really came out of her shell and her confidence soared. For the first two days after Simba's death, she kept wondering around the house looking and calling for him (she had a meow just for him that if she made, Simba would come running to her no matter where he was or what he was doing). For the next month, she didn't want to do *anything*. She didn't want pets, refused to play, didn't want any of the other cats near her, and only ate a tiny amount of food maybe twice a day. She very, very slowly came out of it, but it took *months*. That poor cat was genuinely grieving. Lexy never was the same after Simba's passing. The closest she came to her old self was earlier this year, where she decided to adopt a kitten we rescued from a parking lot and started teaching her how to cat ❤
i had something similar happen
so we have an old cat, her name is cookie. she is a white fluffy cranky old woman, about 11 years old as of now. about 3 years ago, in 2020, we had a smaller cat. he wasnt small because he was young, he was actually about 3-4+ at the time. he wasnt always the nicest cat but he was a bit of a goofball, loved his family too, name was casper, like the ghost. cookie was like his mama kitty, and would occasionally cuddle and clean him despite him being an adult and them not being related
mid 2020, something huge changed. we were going on a family trip down to visit relatives for the summer, and when we got home, we noticed he was noticably weaker, a little wobbly, injured possibly. not sure what happened, we watched him and let him rest.
the next day casper already was real bad. noticably swolen, couldnt move. cookie was genuinely so worried, as were we. that night my mom took him to the vet. we found out he has a previously undiagnosed heart condition, and is probably why he was smaller than he shouldve been. the vet gave him a shot, tried to drain fluid in his heart, but we knew it would only prolong his life a bit.
it only prolonged it for a few hours, if it even did anything at all. the day after, at around 1:30, i went to check on him with my mom, and he was really bad. and about 15 minutes later, he stopped breathing.
while we were depressed and grieving him obviously, cookie was also depressed, angry. ive never seen her so upset. we just know she knew what happened with him. it mustve been exactly like losing her own kitten, as that was their relation. it took her a looong while before she was acting how she normally does.
a few months after, we got a pair of kittens, and cookie REALLY did not like them at first. i just know she thought we were replacing casper not that long after his death. shes a smart cat. she eventually grew to tolerate and then love them as her new stepkittens, but that took quite a while
im not sure if she actually was fully depressed, but i am absolutely sure she was grieving. instead of the 4th stage, it was the 2nd stage, she was extremely aggressive and mad, which she usually isnt directly
Yeah, my cat got depression too. He used to just sit around drinking and smoking & talking about how the dogs ruined his life...poor little fellow. He overdosed on Catnip 2 years ago. RIP Bozo.

I came home one day and was surprised to be greeted by a cat in my home! My parents had adopted her from a shelter mere days before she was going to be put down. She was so scared, hiding away from me (a 10 year old young boy at the time). Eventually she warmed up to me, she would frequently lay on my lap as we watched movies together in the evenings and I loved her so much! Im still so sad she passed away after only having her for 4 years but I still cherish the comforting memories we shared! I hope more cats can find happiness like mine did!
🥺😭 this is so touching, I can totally picture you with the cat and the bond you had, she was lucky to get a bit of happiness by the end of her life ❤️
My cat which now died three years ago... live to the age of 21 years old. Through the last six months of his life he had an increasing brain tumor above his left eye which we found out when taking him to the vet. Basically all the signs described in this video are accurate to a large extent, especially since we had another cat that was 13 years old at the time and was very happy and playful especially with the first, however never wanted to play with him in return. Although we couldn't do anything about the brain tumor we still gave him all the love and care we could, which I think made him live as long as he did. Take care of your cats! They will live with you through thick and thin!
Fkd but pretty much same symptoms for any sickness i couldn't bear watching the decline when it got to the no eating and dehydrating no pooping part 😢
Hmmmm your cat is 21 years old and has a tumor in its eye? Gee golly I wonder why it would be depressed?

@Mister Unknown Bruh, how can I steal money from my friend in quarantine?
@@gorskei5868 Also when I meant stolen is, the comment under yours looked similar.
we didn't get along with my roommate, buy my cat was very fond of his kitten. when he moved out, he suddenly ripped the kitten away from my cat, and she spent the next 8 months urinating inappropriately, and we were distressed by the behavior, but also sympathetic because she was clearly upset. we recently got a new kitten (that's our own, who won't be taken away) and they've bonded even harder than the last kitten who got taken away. thank you for informing people about cat depression. i actually didn't realize my cat's inappropriate urination was a sign of depression. thanks 💕
Apart from missing the other kitten sadness, the urination may have been a way to help the 'lost' kitten find her way back to cat/home, scent marking for the kitten. Glad she bonded with the new one. I only ever had one truly bonded pair. One was extremely depressed when the other died. We briefly got an elderly but terminal rescue cat, and although she did not bond with the rescue, I think it somehow helped her get through grieving.

Alot of animals can be depressed
Animals are always depressed when they don’t get enough play and attention, just like children
Basically every animal at a zoo is depressed due to capitivity, lack of stimulation, constant stress.
@@benja1378 Animal Sanctuaries/Preserves > Zoos. Avoid supporting these places.
I witnessed my old man get really really depressed twice in his current 13 years of life. One was when his brother died at 9 years old. He would stare into corners for long periods of times, slept with his eyes open a few times, had no energy, and was just a shell of himself. The second was after I got two more brothers to help Titan cope (in a healthy timing and thankfully it worked even tho he gets really annoyed with one haha). He had to wear a cone for like a week or so and neither of my new boys would go near him because I guess he looked weird and scary. JJ would hiss if Titan got too close and Axel would be slightly curious but still stayed far away. Titan felt like he was all alone again, so he was back to that place he was with Milo’s situation (Titan’s brother). It didn’t help that the cone was so uncomfy that he couldn’t sleep all day and into the night after coming home.
It’s truly one of the most heartbreaking sights to see. Especially when you can’t do anything to help.
I tried to cheer my 10 year old friend and partner up by bringing another cat home, but I didn't know that that cat was deaf and extremely skittish so naturally my oldest was pissed off about the presence of this other cat. The new one ran away and I failed to retrieve him and the one in my PFP just kinda came back to his old self.
@@niceboi6364please be responsible with animals. That cat is probably dead now since it is deaf and in the wild
I feel so bad for Titan :( hope you gave him lots of love! Could the vet have maybe given him a body suit? Still uncomfortable but less awful than a cone?

I’ve had many cats over the years and the biggest reason they spray or “mark” is not from depression, but from being around too many other cats in a given space. Especially if you have more than four or five indoors. Cats are extremely territorial and marking is the way they try to “claim” their area, especially if they are not fixed! It can also be a sign that your cat is ticked off at you (maybe because their litter box is filthy, or you’ve been mean to them)

TH-cam: hey wana see a video about cat depression?
Me who never had a cat in his life: heck yea. Give it to me!
I am a very depressed cat. You can tell when I'm depressed because I never leave the house and I do nothing but watch television and eat snacks. And I also don't want anyone petting me or looking at me or asking me what's wrong. When people do that it makes me feel even more sick and depressed so just don't look okay?
He sits with a bottle of Jack Daniels and listens to Radiohead.
My chemical romance
ohwellwhateverr Why the fuck are you also using radiohead as "depressing band"? Havent you heard any real emo bands?
GDjesusOfsuburbia 'Depressing' isn't a pejorative, I like Radiohead. They're just the first band that came to mind.
ohwellwhateverr I'd say that Nirvana would fit way better in that category.
GDjesusOfsuburbia Nirvana makes me happy, not depressed.
"Cats are not interactive"
Cat: spends whole video interacting
lol they never said that cat was depressed tho
@@gigixc6219 yeah but to say cats don't interact is bullshit. (signed, a cat owner 😅)
@@miss_ramz8364 Incorrect that that's all cats do, but I see what you're saying, their interactions are not the same as that of dogs.
@@MamboCat84 My cat litteraly spend her day turing around me, either asking for me to pet her, or to play with her. When I sleep, she'll wait for any sign that I'm waking up to run at me, purring, so I can pet her for half an hour. She's VERY interactive.
@@MamboCat84 yeah that part was weird, I get if it's a very older cat, but for example my cat still likes to interact with me and he's 15. It's something that really depends on the cats personality, same thing with dogs, different personality different type of reactions.
"If a cat is depressed they will pee/poop in weird places" there saved you a minute.
My mom had a cat that was forced to moves houses constantly due to my mom not having a stable home. Eventually, she stayed in this apartment where the cat was only aloud in her room with the litter box and food. A couple months in and she started to pee and poop in random areas of the room. My mom got tired of it and threw her out because "she reminded her of her ex-boyfriend" which is just so dumb. That cat also started to get less playful as time went on. My mom later blamed it on the roommate (which was total bs because he loved the cats and hated how my mom secluded them in that room). She was drunk.
I miss you Tigeres. Our mom is the devil.

There was an old street cat lived in the garden of my dormy I knew that was staring at walls or siting and not doing anything other than looking at distance. Scared of humans but he was accepting me getting close to him. He wasn't hunting for himself, wasn't cleaning his fur much. He wasn't drinking any water and never saw him sleeping. He had only one eye and seemed like it was caused by people, so I knew he was exposed to trauma but with the symptoms I thought he had parasites or something. One symptom I noticed is cats won't tolerate if you cross their boundaries and will smack you for a warning without not much damaging but depressed cats either won't care or will get angry and hit you for damaging you, deep and long tears on your skin. Also he was never ever meowing.
Anyways I secretly got him to my dormy room even if it was illegal and took care of him for 3 years. I respected his boundaries and didn't touch him much as soon as I saw him uncomfy I stopped touching him in that area or stopped petting him. Around after 6 months I gained his trust enough to be able to touch his belly. And he enjoyed sitting between my legs while I slept. Then we were so close that we slept hugging all the time around in 1 years. He was leaving the room everyday and coming to see me if im not in the room, not coming. Once I changed my room my roommate said "There was a cat making weird sounds infront of the door" . I got it was him because he couldn't meow but make weird noises. He just kept visiting me everyday and fallowing me to the bus stop in the mornings. He was hunting again, playing with the bugs in the garden, drinking water, wanting to play with me (I never did because he one shot my tshirt with his claw, split the front in half) I had to leave the dormy after 3 years I miss him so much. I hope he won't get depressed again that now I'm gone. He was the smartest cat I know

My older cat got depressed when we got a second, very young cat. She would retreat into the guest bed room and not come out except to eat and use the litter box. She would not come for cuddles, she would not sleep in my bed, she just avoided the whole family. Got her out of it by just coming by the guest bed room couple of times a day and pet her to remind her she was not being replaced and was still loved. Took about 2 months to get her back to her old self.
BlackKraya Good. I am glad to learn she got better.
cubomania3 you got me there 😁 when I was a kid I got one cat as a gift from my friend, I think of getting another one to be her playmate so she won't feel alone whenever I go to
School and so I rescued a stray cat that always goes to me and cuddles my legs with her neck. They got along but there are times neither one of them acts aloof as hell now I know it's the sign of their depression...
A friend of mine brought his cat when he visited me,and my cat gives zero absolute fucks about it,she just ignores the existence of said cat.The only thing my cats are afraid of are phones.
BlackKraya when I got a third, younger cat, my older female reacted...differently. She pissed on my mom's bed. While making eye contact with her. The little shit knew exactly what she was doing.
BlackKraya aww
