Also was forced to go manual as they have take all their automatic in the ceed family of the line for some 'unknown' reason

    Pretty happy with Kias in terms of reliability and value. My Niro PHEV is my transition workhorse car at least until we have more E-GMP based EVs to choose from, and I am financially in a position where I can make a switch. The step to full electric feels a bit larger if you haven’t tried a PHEV first I feel..

    • @JanHenrik541
      @JanHenrik541 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw; the “sport mode” could be called charge mode, but I think tow mode would’ve also been appropriate. If you tow anything with a PHEV it works a lot better if you don’t deplete the battery too much.

    can easily get more than the 57km on the pure electricity, (60 without AC on), I drive 33-35KM each way to work, and can make it there and back on 1 charge here in the summertime :), just cruise at like 80-90km/h and its fine :) traffic doesnt allow for much more anyways.

      So you're saying 70 Km. is doable?? (asking this seriously, because my current Lynk&Co does some 80-ish Km. in summertime and that's something I haven't seen yet in a PHEV below 40.000,- )

    I have the 2021 PHEV SW. Have driven it now for a year in Finland, at the average consumption for 17 000 km is 2,5 litres/100km. Main issue I have with the car is that although the MHEV version comes with a turbo, this one doesn't. Any idea what was the logic behind that decision?

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose here you have the large electric motor to help you out, when you need better acceleration. And ultimately this is not a performance car.

    Bonging is something I mostly associate with American cars (door ajar, etc) but sharp beeping is very much an Asian thing.
    I was in a Prius that beeped like an effing microwave every time it thought the driver was out of her lane, which on the narrow back road we were on was all the effing time. My Passat just tugs at the steering wheel, and on that particular road it realizes it has no idea what’s what and just lets me do the driving.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that's what I'm often trying to convey. German cars usually guide you politely, but firmly. Whereas brands designed in other countries tend to be less firm, but also much less polite about their warnings and suggestions :)

  • @kenanmorad3294
    @kenanmorad3294 ปีที่แล้ว

    after your review I disided not to buy the car because they said 1,5 liter per 100 km and you said up to 7 liter per 100 km after the battery die. so thank you for that information .
    that's meaning att the car convert to normal bensin car after battery die.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  ปีที่แล้ว

      PHEV official test results are always skewed, because during the test cycle they barely use the petrol engine. Assuming you drive mainly short distances, and have a place to recharge cheaply, a PHEV could make sense.

    • @MrCABman1972
      @MrCABman1972 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What are you expecting from a plug-in hybrid. The battery will only get you about 50km... but you may drive longer ranges in ECO mode, perhaps 150-200km with very low overall consumption becasue the battery is assisting in the interval where the petrol engine needs it. If you plan to drive a longer distance you need to turn the petrol engine on at the start and not run the battery dry first.
      Plug-in hybrids are excellent for people that drive allot of short distance and charge them at home during the night, with this you can probably get down to way below 1 litre per 10km in overall consumption.
      This is pure physics...

  • @Usul-xp6ve
    @Usul-xp6ve ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, so Ive owned the PHEV variant for two months and it has a good fuel economy and thats it.
    I have major problems with this car and mainly three. I just cant understand what they where thinking when they designed the dashboard and the windscreen.
    Because the entire weird pattern of the dashboard reflects directly on the windscreen, I dont have words for this, its just beyond me.
    First time that Ive owned a car with this feature, destracting you from the road with reflection on the windscreen?!
    Then we have the auto wipers in front, thats just auto and you cant shut down the auto feature..
    Every time I start the car I get the "agreement" on the monitor that I have to agree on: that I follow the regulations and the traffic law etc. Everytime.

  • @ast5515

    The facelift made it look much worse.
    They had the 1.4 turbo engine for 3 years and whooosh. It's gone. We have no idea if it's reliable or not and now we have a new one that we know even less about.
    I know it has a warranty but many people in the forums complain about random error messages and check engine lights in the 1.5 turbo models and the official answer is that it's a software issue and there is no fix. It's been 3 months at least and there is still no fix.
    New car reliability is shit. With every brand. Source: Sold a Ford because they couldn't fix it under warranty. Thinking about selling a 2019 Nissan Leaf because they cannot fix it under warranty. Friend has a Kia with the DCT and they replaced the clutch pack and dual mass flywheel 3 times under warranty (he knows it's a dct and didn't burn it, it simply failed, the second and third ones lasted less than 1000 km). Another friend gets 3 free oil changes a year because they can't fix the oil dilution issue in the Transit Connect. They also have a Navara and it only needed a new coolant hose, a MAP sensor, and a wastegate solenoid in the first 1,5 years. It also sounds like it has a failing injector but it's under warranty so we don't give a crap until it stops dead.
    But yeah. New cars are rock solid other than that.

  • @bobholmes4215

    Another great review, thank you.
    It doesn't seem that good as a PHEV - terrible performance, a sport mode which isn't sporty, and on top of that the 41k EUR price seems a bit steep. For that kind of money you can now get a fairly decent full on EV, eg. the Enyaq iV 60.
    With regard to the body versions, the Proceed is a really great looking car. If they made a fully EV version of it I would be very tempted.

    Hi, I have a KIA CEED PHEV 2022. I'm very disappointed how the hybrid system works. If it low temperature outside (below 10 C) then the petrol engine always starts if the so if im driving under 10km it never runs purly on electricity.
    Or if the AC is runing the petrol engien starts.
    So the petrol enginen is always running when heating or cooling...
