Everything you seem to dislike is totally irrelevant to me, as a father of two and with a tight budget. Engine is fine, style is fine and specs are perfect. Combined with reasonable price and 7-year warranty I have absolutely no problem recommending the Ceed SW to anybody. I am just about to go from my 2020 model to a new one. Haven't found anything that could compete.

A helpful comment, thank you. Do you know if in the back the space is comfortable enough for two car seats and an adult in the middle?

He did indeed sound pretty biased throughout the whole review

I never understood why for some people it's such a problem to drop gears. You cannot expect any low-displacement engine to give you significant power below 2500-3000 rpm. That's the whole point of gearboxes... If you don't know how to use them, just get an automatic.

Actally I found 1.0 liter motor very good on highway, where I drive 95% time in 6th gear. Town ride is more problematic for me because of turbolag.

Great review - these are decent cars actually and there’s some super cheap lease deals around too

I think the approved used Proceed is a pretty good call.

We've had the previous JD version of this car with the 1.6 diesel since 2013. It's been highly practical, dependable and economical (up to 75mpg on long runs). Hasn't needed any non-routine maintenence until hitting 85k miles. Only down side is that it's a euro5 diesel. Would recommend as decent, long legged family car. Agree about being OK to drive but not super engaging either.

doesn’t matter since all new cars have a warranty

@whybother now most people that buy/lease new cars don't keep them for more than 3-6 years and almost all cars are reliable for that time so reliability isn't all that important when comparing new cars. Let's talk about performance, comfort, tech, luxury, style...

@@kristians2704 This is either nativity or you're a single person with no dependants. Thus, when your car is in the shop it's just an inconvenience to you and not others. For people with dependants, reliability is a huge factor whether there is a warranty or not.

I think I'd opt for a Toyota Corolla Touring Sports.

erm 16 inch wheels means less likely to get broken suspension spring on uk shitty pothole riddled roads

Exactly, big wheels with low profile tyres don't work on British roads if you want comfort.

As a car that does what it needs to it's great transport with a great warranty. As a fun car it's time to look elsewhere.

The idea that driving an SUV makes you seem stylish and adventurous is laughable. Now that everyone has one, it just makes you a sheep.

I can never understand why they put something as small as a 1 litre in a big estate car, it's no surprise that it's not quick to respond as you simply can't defy the laws of physics as a small engine pushing a big car is going to 1st of all have to work harder to go faster and as a result not be as economical as many would think as many will buy one of these thinking that and they're in for a big shock. I think the 1.5 if going petrol or if like me you need and prefer a diesel then that's fine but I personally even if I needed a petrol car avoid anything medium to large sized with such a small engine.

I wouldn't buy any car that doesn't have a spare wheel and well to store it in.

Might get a bit bogged down with a 1.0 litre engine, and all seats occupied plus luggage in the boot.....
