I had that Shinobi on the Game Gear. It was one of the games that came with the handheld.
I had a mighty ducks hocky Jersey that everyone at school wanted, and a buddy of mine offered me a Game Gear with a load of games, a gold sovereign ring, and a little gold bracelet.
I couldn't refuse.🤷♂️😂
Woah that's one sweeeeet deal. An image enhancer :0). The GG Shinobi's rock this world.
That Shinobi box looks almost mint pal loads of games there i've never played nice to hear the background on them all nicely shared Ed take care pal
Thanks Bill. Really pleased to have grabbed it. Only realised in recent years that the GG Shinobi games are completely different from the SMS/MD ones; and best of all, there's decent too!
Have yourself an amazing weekend mate.
Fun times! Yeah Gargoyles is a great time. Can't see me replaying them but I enjoyed playing through both the first and second. Haven't played through Demons Crest yet though!
I was really looking forward to Virtues Last Reward but I couldn't get past having to replay every scenario. I wish it just let you play out ONE scenario rather than having to play out ALL possibilities. Just not for me maybe.
😁👍
The wario land series is fantastic! I had to do a bunch of jobs around the house to get Wario Land 3 as my payment 😂 I remember sitting out in the garden of our local playing it!
Haha, it's well worth domestic chores for John :0). You've more nostalgia than me for it as I don't remember playing any Wario titles until the Wii mini games one (Wario ware perhaps). Cheers!
Nice picks, Ed. Fun video. Cheers!
Thank you kindly!
Great upload mate, some tasty games in the collection. Handhelds and Walkmans kept duracell in business 80s and 90s lol. Top stuff buddy.👍🙏🎮🕹
Thanks mate! Hope all is well. haha, totally - I was always on my ole man's case about batteries back in the day; drove him nuts. I don't remember us ever having rechargeables back then but perhaps we should have invested in some :0). Enjoy that weekend.
I don't think i played gargoyles quest. Definitely gotta check that out.🙌
mate, it's superb!!! a bit challenging at points but not unfairly so, and also none of the GB games are that easy haha.
I know nothing about dementium the ward on the DS sounds really interesting Ed
Never tried Tony hawks games so will have to try the Gameboy advance version Ed mate. Never heard of virtues reward but sounds great and I would love to get a wonderswan. Enjoy the garden work Ed buddy 🙂👍
They're a fun crack to pick up and play for sure! A few for the GBA including the Underground series; not sure you could go wrong with any and should be a low price. Man, our garden is still a jungle unfortunately - I started on it but got distracted (with beer!). cheers Glen :0)
Ive recently got into playing those tony hawks games.
Great fun aren't they. Pretty mindless autopilot games which are perfect for me haha
Great Video Ed you got some class games in your collection 😎😎
thanks so much Chris!
Not at all!!! Ray Tracers arrived and I’ve been enjoying it this morning. Great recommendation.
Been really enjoying need for speed 3 hot pursuit as well.
Thanks mate, have a goodun.
Not much of a handheld collector/player,
Really enjoyed advanced wars on the gba, mariokart on the 3ds and anything but sonic on the gamegear.
Great vid mate.
Cheers mate! It's a couple of decades of commuting that got me into them I think, as well as a lot of car journeys around France as a kid.
Great game choices matey
cheers mate!
Belters there Ed - wow gargoyles quest - I have not tried dementium and i have virtues last reward on my Shelf I need to play it now great video brother
Hey mate!! GQ is a cracking game; don't know if you've played but based on some of your tastes I've observed via your vids I suspect it would please ya :0). Dude, get Virtues played!!!! The first one is decent too (9 9 9 I think). Have a fab weekend!!
Great picks again there ed buddy 😄 I really need to have a look at shinobi 2 bud, il boot it up on the wii later. Gargoyles... I want to play that and watch the cartoon now 😂 hours of fun 😊 that 3ds game sounds very interesting bud... another I need to have a look at, my mrs might like that one aswel
Cheers Steve! Mate, the modded Wii idea sounds great. Give Shinobi 2 a shot (first one is cool too, completely different from the SMS version).
Wishing you the best of weekends.
Some good choices there matey.. only handheld I had growing up was the Game Gear.. loved Shinobi and the Illusion games on it along with James Pond lol
Had so many other handhelds when I was retro collecting again but could never get into them sadly bar the original Gameboy which me and my lad would sit and play for hours hooked on Tetris lol
Thanks mate!! How fab is James Pond; a really innovative series when you think back.
A lot of travel and commuting over my life has definitely ingrained the handheld thing. Nowadays I rarely get control of the telly so again it's practical for me to have one close haha.
Have a nice weekend. cheers as always.
Good shout on dementium, ive never heard of it but it sounds great, £60 is alot for a ds game though 😅 ill have to give it a try before buying!
Hey Dan! Hope you're well. cheers so much for watching. Wow, prices have shot up; just taken a look. Granted it's still a chunk of £ but there's a £45 one on ebay - US version but unlike the 3ds, the ds isn't region locked. There's a lot of text so unless there's a language option, a Japanese import wouldn't be a viable option.
Keep a look out; you never know :0).
Have a fab weekend. Again, big thanks for watching.
Ooh, lovely to see Robotron Ed, what a great game, never played the Lynx version, box looked lovely Nick too
The Wonder swan game sounds cool too, a console I've never had
Not heard of Detention but sounds good and can imagine that being big money
Again, I've not heard of the 3DS title either🤣
Great stuff mate👍
Cheers James. Robotron is really cool; must have been a straightforward port for the lynx - plays very well and is nice to have boxed. I'm tempting fate but Lynx games are so much cheaper than Gameboy even thought I'd anticipate far far fewer titles were told. Likely the demand is less I guess.
I grabbed a wonder swan from our mutual friend Jace - loved it so much I upgraded to a backlit modded one. Games are very erratic in price and alas it's yet another rabbit hole. I need to get a better grip on my collecting habits!
Yep, Dementium is on the rise price-wise unfortunately. Certainly not rare but perhaps on the uncommon side - the way it plays (combo of pad and touchscreen to move) would make it very difficult to enjoy over emulation. Won't be helping the price.
Cheers buddy! Have a fab weekend. A couple of your ps1 racing recommendations arrived today. Hoping my son and missus get to beds promptly so that I may enjoy some driving later. thanks again.
@@RetroEdUK oh dear, I hope I haven't caused you to waste your money🤣
Hope you like them. Have a great weekend 👍
GQ is awesome, especially the NES one. One day I'll beat it. Lol.
I've always had my eye on dementium has always intregued me, but I never got around to getting them
Great choices. Let's hope some one new does one 👌
Hey mate! I'll have to check it out on the NES. Miso Retro (local shop) has the sequel but it's a wallet stretcher haha.
Worth grabbing some dementium if poss :0).
fingers crossed - has been nice checking out all the vids.
Gargoyles Quest, such memories, looks like illl be paying close to a oner since starting my collection again. Need to have it just for nostalgia reasons.
One question what is the handheld you mentioned before Wario Land 3? The game with the sad bird?
Great vid! 🤙
Hey!!! thanks so much for watching and for the comment; hugely appreciated. Wow, it has shot up in price :0(; I'm with you know in that it's one of about 10 games I'd pay a bit more for to have back and enjoy those memories. Loose cart in the UK is about £20 so it's a fair chuck for the box n' manual - that said the box art is blooming awesome.
Sorry, I was likely mumbling through! The game was tane o maku tori which is for the Bandai Wonderswan. An extremely addictive puzzle game. I haven't many Wonderswan games. Picked up the handheld as it was a creation by Gunpei Yokoi and with my love of the gameboy I had to check out what he did after Nintendo booted him out.
thanks again and wishing you a great weekend. Hope to chat again in the comments. all the best.
@@RetroEdUK awesome stuff Ed appreciate the info. It sounds great. May have to look into it. And agree, for nostalgia reasons I'll pay the price and will definitely want the manual and box as agree, the artwork is amazing 🤙
Yes 🙌 straight in with the game gear 🤩
Your really triggering me to start a 3DS collection 😂😂😂
do it ;0). but after the gamegear one!
I'd love to get my mitts on Gargoyle's Quest...just had a look at prices though so yeah, might be waiting a while for that one! 🤣 Shinobi II is another I'd like to grab eventually and thankfully that's a lot more reasonable on the old wallet!
Hey mate! hope you're well. should be around £20 (loose cart obviously) in the UK; are the US prices crazy? Shout of you want me to grab one and post it over mate.
If you can grab shinobi 2 at a decent price, do it :0)
have the finest of weekends amigo!
Nice choices Ed. Gargoyles Quest is just fantastic on the game boy. I was lucky to bag a boxed copy before the prices went up. That's definitely a nice one to get complete.
My favourite GB game of all time. Wonderful stuff. Found it difficult as a kid but so satisfying
@bsmith6646 I find it quite challenging too but I enjoy it. Gargoyles Quest 2 on the NES is also great. In fact I enjoy all 3 games. It's a great trilogy.
Thanks Rob. Good move; a few of the comments have made it clear it's far pricier than I was expecting at the mo. Have a nice weekend mate.
@@Champion2D Very nice. I also loved Demon Crest on the SNES. Trying to buy it for the Super Famicom (Demon Blazen in Japanese I think). Not cheap!
Nice picks there Ed!
thanks mate!
I've never been really into the handhelds So this was interesting to see What you've ratted on yours , I remember playing Shinobi 2 Round a mated on his game gear As a kid and having a good time with it, You make all of the other games you picked sound great , I may have to try a few of them out in the future but on the big screen 😂
Cheers Marc - work and travel stuff has got my commuting a fair bit for quite a few years a good ole handheld was my default.
Sorry mate I haven't asked in ages - has your eyesight stabilised a bit (hopefully hasn't worsened :0( )?.
have a nice weekend.
@@RetroEdUK It's great that you're able to play whilst travelling, As for my eyesight it's not great But the surgery I had Last year Has helped and I will be having some laser treatment within the next year Which should make things a little better, However things are slowly getting worse, For now though I'm still gaming But many types of games are off limits To me as I struggle with them But many people suffer with All kinds of disabilities And as long as we have friends and family around us To give us support we need Then we are happy even if we are restricted In many ways others are not, Thanks for asking Ed I really appreciate it
