Hello Michael ! Congratulations for your beautiful turntable. A dream ! Michael, thanks for your videos and time, totally agree with you !
Vinyls are very expensive and they should have better sleeves. I want to say that my last vinyls have arrived with some factory problems. Some brands like our admired Deutsche Gramophone, must take care with their quality control. I love vinyls and I can’t believe that vinyls that I bought in the seventies are in better condition that some new and sealed ones. We are paying a lot of money , and you have to pray when you open a new one waiting for perfection. That’s the reason for me to buy again some CDs instead of vinyls. Have a good day and thanks again for your videos. Hugs from South America.

Great sleeves with the outer pocket. I wasn’t aware about them. Thank you so much for sharing. Inners by MoFi are my favorites, probably the best place where a vinyl can seat, safe from dust and electrostatic charge. Great video

For what its worth, I use the Spin Care Density outer sleeves which are slightly cloudy. Although they do not look quite as good as the clear outer sleeves, they do provide protection from UV damage which is important if you have a lot of natural light in your record room.

    Great talk! Thank you.
I like to think of record storage as being like artwork storage. Materials in contact with the records should be archival. A stable temperature that isn’t too hot is good. Moderate humidity levels will help prevent mold.
I always make sure my records are dry before placing them in plastic packaging as it doesn’t breathe.

Wauvvv....finally a topic that rarely get touched. The inner sleeve solution you found, is new to me too, and i will defiantly thinking of change my inner. For my more expensive Audiophile records, i use the crazy priced double gatefold outer sleeve, but their pretty pretty expensive and hard to get in a good quality? I can´t (or won't) spend all that money on gatefold outer sleeves for all my records, as it would ruin me :-( But i DO care about my stuff and wan't it to last a lifetime, so great great info. Thx...cheers from Denmark

another example of plastic migration involved the old inner liners that were PVC based , they actually leached off plastic that bonded on the record

Thank you for the content Michael. I checked out the VSS site and this looks great. There are more options here than I realized so it is a little confusing as to how to apply the gatefold sleeves, but I’m sure once I try it it will be easy enough. Just saw that you have another VSS video too! Thanks!

Really enjoy your content, Michael. any chance you could do a video on how you protect your box sets? I notice that you keep the records on the outside but do you just place the bare vinyl in a inner sleeve on a shelf or protect it in another way?

Mint Sleeves supply these in the UK, and they do a very poor job in looking after their inventory. Sleeves often arrive creased, or tainted with something. And most recently (this is probably Vinyl Storage Solutions' fault) have arrive smaller than usual, with the 12 inch sleeve fitting hardly any 12 inch record I own, whereas previously they did...there's no consistency in the size of the sleeves. Not the most communicative of companies either.

I have noticed that the frosted inner sleeves leave a horrible residue--fortunately I didn't sleeve many records with this, as I decided not to use them anyway and go with a different kind. But this was an eye-opener. It hasn't been but a few months and those frosted sleeves with the same design as the clear (shown at 3:30 mark) left my vinyl looking like a mess! I am praying that a cleaning will fix this issue. I am also wondering if the crystal clear sleeves leave the residue, because I wouldn't mind using these for a specific purpose if he still sells.

Enjoyed the video, I must admit I'm a little concerned about the inner sleeve you show from VSS. I've got some of the clear inners (which I use along with the duel flap solely for displaying coloured records, everything else goes in the MoFi) & they are a much softer plastic with rounded edges. Perhaps it's an alternative I've not seen, but the one here looks like it could potentially do some real damage?

Hi Michael, thanks for the video. The vinylstorage company sells resealable covers and also covers with a single or dual flap. For gatefold albums, can you use covers with a single flap or a dual flap. The way they showed it on their website is that you use resealable ones for gatefold, but not clear if you can also use the tuckable flap ones as well. It sounds like for gatefold it must be resealable only. It would be great if you could comment on that. Thanks in advance!

    • @Michael45RPM

These inner sleeves seem good for archival but for regular listening...not very practical. That flap looks especially dangerous when taking the record out and putting it back in.
I am using antistatic poly lined paper sleeves and I find them very, very good. The amount of dust accumulated is practically null and handling the disc is very easy.
Conclusion: recommending inner sleeves should take into account the frequency of listening to that record (frequently or archiving). 🙂

Hi Michael, I am wondering if any of your viewers are having the same issue as I am with "audiophile" inner sleeves. My problem appears to be mainly related to the ******* Inners (MoFi/VRP style). I have found residue on the outside of the inner sleeves of records I cleaned about 2 years ago when I replaced the inner sleeves at the same time. This is making the sleeves slightly sticky to touch a leaving my fingers feeling horrible, while also leaving the records with some residue, that I cannot see when brushing, but shows as white and cloudy in the alochol/distilled water mix I use clean my Degritter filter with. So far I have recleaned and resleeved 200 records. I haven't started to look at records i have cleaned more recently, but I am seriously pissed off.

I use the same outer sleeves but for my high end records use Mofi inner sleeves.. I saw one particular slightly negative comment about the inner sleeves online stating that when you bend the sleeve to create the opening it creates a bend/crease that has a "pointy" edge that tends to rub on the record.. has that been your experience or has that been an issue?
