Amen! He gets so much crap from other excavation channels for the equipment he buys, repairs and uses. What they don't take into account is the fact that while they're complaining that they hit a rock while digging in sand and clay, all Andrew DOES is dig in ROCK and he does it just as well! If it ain't broke, don't fix it but, if it IS broke, fix it to make it functional and get the job done! I think we can ALL take a page out of his book and learn to do things for ourselves! I mean he literally drove his last truck till it wouldn’t move under its power anymore and was gonna replace the motor until he got this one. So I mean the man likes to get his money’s worth out of his trucks

Cutting up those excavator tracks with a grinder… micro pollution is an inevitability in construction - every time I see a sheet of solid insulation going through the table saw it makes me wonder how many million particles that one cut creates

The AC seal of durability for a rough N ready work truck. As much as Fabrat & MORR put together vehicles seems if a kickstarter or a vc fan could assemble the components & let AC design & build. 22nd century could see a functional practical truck.

I do the same with my Pt Cruiser its got 230000 miles on it and I still keep it going even though its not worth it but its always been good to me so matter what it does ill fix it.

Love the shots of the Alternator repair/replacment. I can't count how many of those suckers I've changed in my lifetime (79 now) but it was nice to see that the same problems I had, were universal ha ha.And that I wasn't the only one. @@AndrewCamarata Those transfer cases are super easy to rebuild bro.. There are plenty of videos about it too. Your detents went bad, that's why it popped out of gear. Your shift forks have little plastic 'wear pads on the ends.. and you must have worn them completely down by holding them with the rope. Easy parts to change and rebuild.
@@AndrewCamarata On the smart charger I had--- it just had a little relay on the incoming lines and would shut off whenever it wanted... so I just lopped around and bypassed that relay so it would always stay on... It's a nice little machine now-- fairly strong. If it burns up, it burns up.
@@calholli I was maybe going to try it, one thing that deterred me was that transfer case was recently rebuilt, so maybe something else was bad, and I didn’t want to do all the labor and have it not work.
A significant part of this is to have the ability to just be yourself knowing a million people are watching you ! Camarata seems to do this effortlessly! Your work is a great show Andrew !
I'm so fascinated that you are so handy with everything, there is seem nothing that you can't fix. I wish I was that skilled with tools and had knowledge of how things work. I work in front of a computer and have zero abilities with real world things. Will start slowly getting my own tools and learn how to fix things.

30:13 The part you were grinding on is actually a slide nut. Instead of grinding it just thread the bolt in and hit bolt with hammer. It pushes the nut back to gain clearance to get alternator slid in.
Was just about to say the same thing, but sure enough you were faster...
they all slide to open up to install...damn mouth breather doesn't understand simple repairs !!🤣
the old alternators had sliding bushings that worked the same way...used to laugh watching guys fight with them...lol...

yup, first thing you do when installing an alternator. ive seen guys fighting for 30 mins to get the alternator on the bracket when all it takes is two punches on the slide nuts.
Use some dielectric grease for those pin plugs on your plow. I like this channel. Much more interesting than watching guys basically just showing off their nice new stuff. Keep on your path bud, great video, God bless

Andrew you are killing me! As a former mechanic I see how a vast majority of the stuff you do could be prevented by doing some "preventative maintenance". If it rattles tighten it up, if it squeaks put some Luby Doobie on it. You do great work on repairing old equipment and making emergency repairs. But like when those pins were giving you trouble, lube them up so they will slide back into place easier. I know you can't use grease on everything because of dust and grit but some silicone spray would help. Next time you change an alternator remove the air box, only takes a couple mins. and you have a lot more room to work with.
Also if he was possibly maybe kinda slightly gentler 😅

Mr. Classic I've been watching Andrew for many years. I love to see the way he does his construction work and his repairs . But have never been a fan of jumping cars or crashing things running jeeps into trucks, it is just making a mess and it does nothing for me. If you like it, good for you . I've worked far to hard in my life time to get everything I own, and had to do without lots of time.
I enjoy watching him figure out how to build something he needs to do a certain job or the building of his home and I'm sure there will be more I enjoy, But I'm not sure that you can understand that other people can have different ideas on things than you do.
As much truth and realism there is in the way AC works on and fixes things, i just have to assume some of his ways are also done to provide the type of content he does. I mean, do you think he would have used the chainsaw to install a radio in his truck if he wasnt filming for youtube? OK, maybe he would!! LOL
You have such a great sense of splicing material together over time that makes it seem like its shot all at once. You would be a great film director.
The edits of the vlog can be as time consuming as filming it. That drone shot of the truck plowing through the woods was awesome. The genius is not just the welding & repairs..

I use the largest can of WD40 i can find and spray everything on the plow with it. Helps keep everything from rusting so much and parts from seizing. I do it all season and heavy before i put it away. I even coat the mold board. It helps snow from sticking. A couple cans a season is cheaper than western parts.
new hydraulic fluid and a garden sprayer, way cheaper and does better and is safe for seals
3:00 best battery charger I ever had was an old one my dad bought from sears back in the 80s, it was one of the small tin box chargers with no electronics/displays on it, just a switch that had like 3 positions- off, 12v charge/6volt boost, 12vboost/6 volt charge. Still works to this day. As long as it continues to work, may as well use it.
Best charger I ever had, I still use. My dad made from scratch about 60 years ago and fits under my car seat. Works fine.

The new "intelligent" chargers out there are a mostly joke unless you can find a good one. Yeah, they can probably can do desulfurization, but give me something with a hefty transformer in it for jump/boost starting.
I’ve had I don’t know how many new battery chargers and they all last about a year of non commercial use. So I went bought a old snap on from the 90s and it still working to this day. I can’t charge AGM batteries with the snap on but I don’t have anything that runs them.
I have the same type, still works to this day.
Your bodywork techniques make me feel better about mine, when I had a messed up bumper like yours i just ran it into a tree until it was fixed

Those Western plows are strong! Here in California DOT Maintenance keeps them on their trucks year round to clear snow, rock slides and smooth gravel shoulders.

Love when you crushed that "smart" charger. I went through the same issue recently, when your battery is actually dead the smart chargers are useless, which usually is the only reason you would be using the charger. All of the stupid safety features make them unusable. Definitely worth hanging on to any old chargers you find that just put out power regardless of the circumstances.
Lead batteries can't be charged under a certain voltage due to toxic fumes and fire danger, also an undervoltage lead battery won't recovery at all.
The "stupid safety features" are there for a pretty valid reason, it's just the stupid people not knowing how things work.
@@gabriele476 I've used the recondition feature on a $40 "smart" charger to bring back batteries that are at 1 to 3 volts and they work good as new with slightly reduced capacity.
@@SamCyanide battery desulfurization are another thing, if you don't do that you shouldn't charge that and it's right for the charger to stop the charge, at least in a closed space.
Ps professional and certified desulfator aren't cheap.
Hope this can help anyone who may be thinking about track-crushing their new charger; clamp a good battery to the dead battery with the charger connected also. This provides the current required to start charging.

Try mounting the indicator stick on a spring. It might last a little longer!! Great snow ploughing. Does a neat job.
It looks like he was using PEX or crosslink polyethylene tubing. PEX is very strong as long as it is not exposed to UV light (e.g. sunlight). UV makes it brittle. Just cover the tube with some red duck tape. A spring joint a the base is a great idea too.

I bought online from "Tom's river transmission" good warranty, good price and excellent product. Years ago, I Had a 95 ram 2500 that ate trannys until I put one of his in my truck. Told him I plowed and hauled, he said, don't care, warranty is a warranty, you won't break my tyranny.

Snow plowing would be how I first found Andrew. I had thought about going into that business and watched all the fancy guys and their fancy snow plows going down nice city roads. Then I find this guy flying down dirt roads in beat up truck moving like 2 feet of snow crashing into sticks and stuff with ease. I was hooked not into the plowing but the guy doing his job with no fear.
I got a perfect name for this channel. Andrew fixed it. Love how you make easy work of it. 😁😁
The bushes in the Alternator leg are a press fit, just hit them with a hammer to open the space up for easy fitting, then it snugs up when the mount bolt is tightened. You don't need to grind them.
Andrew, 2 tips when working on the dodge:
1. If you need to work on anything that side of the engine, remove the airbox (1 nut, a hose clamp, and the IAT sensor connector is all you need to remove and takes about 30 sec total)
This will give you enough room to wiggle the alternator (mine was very tight fit too).
2. If you take a S hook and bend one side 90 deg. you can use it and an extra ratchet to hold the belt tensioner by cliping the ratchet to the lower passenger fan schroud support)
Once again improvise is a must, another Job well done Sir, let's move on to the next one.
I love your body work! Especially that polished bucket. Fine hammer blows. No chance of leaving scratches on the bumper! I always believed this about trucks and cars. Once they leave the showroom - it is NOT an investment. IT is a liability - with costs we have no idea of - except when we do our own work!
EDIT - ok - Sears is dead - so the charger new it was time to die!
EDIT2 - Dashs - fabric store - Fun Fur! Black does not clash - and never needs vacuuming. It looks fine once the Dandelion fur comes out for the year.
Just a note for future reference, the spacer you were grinding on in the alt. ear is to be hammered out to give more space & when the bolt is tightened it will pull in creating the proper length for the bolt. Just support the ear so you don't break it when hammering it out a little. Always entertaining!

Dear Andrew, the smart battery chargers are "smart" because of the few reasons - one is that they have a relay inside and when battery voltage is bellow 3-4V (for 12V battery) the relay doesn't close and charging doesn't happens. In that case You can simply "lie" the charger by connecting with cables another battery in parallel just for a moment. Best regards.

Andrew, you are a crack up and you are always doing something that makes people laugh. You seem to never have a problem that you can't find some way to fix and get it back in service. Love all your videos.
All good stuff here as the repairs got done... Andrew, on those long alt. bolts that eventually threaded into the cast iron block presumably, cleaning up the threads was the ticket, however, as a general rule before I do reassembly work, especially when steel & aluminum come into play on engines in particular, I almost always apply some never-seize on the threads 1st... If you or anybody else ever has to take it apart again, you will be glad you did this...

Hey Love the vids, very informative! One tip about dielectric grease is that its not actually conductive and shouldn't be used inside electrical connectors, although it wont do much harm. works great for keeping water out! Let me know if you know otherwise. Keep up the good vids!
You know what helps sometimes with older rusty bolts? Cleaning them, hand tools, PB Blaster, patience, and finesse.
